One of the best Pediatric cancer Hospital in Bangalore. My 3 year old son diagnosis as B cell ALL. I come to know it cost lot for chemotherapy, in one of other famous Hospital. I was very panic about cost and also where to stay in Bangalore up to 7 months.

At that point my Brother talk with Dr. Anand K C sir about my situation. Immediately sir suggest us to Admit baby, don't wary about money. They facilitate fund for treatment and provide Hostel facilities with free Ration.

This Hospital provide world class treatment with affordable price. This is an non profitable organisation serving for poor and needy people.

Dr Anand is very experience Pediatric Oncology specialist in Bangalore. He is very concerned about children. He treat children with global standards chemo medicines.
He treated more than 9000 children with cancer.

Dr Arathi madam and Dr Ramita madam are also as good as Anand sir. They are very friendly. They always ready to solve any doubt. Very good experience I had. I never feel it was Hospital. All sister's also care a lot. They always help full.

Now my son finish 7month treatment, we are in maintenance. I will strongly suggest Sri Shenkara Cancer foundation Hospital for any kind of Cancer treatment. They charge very less when compare to any other cancer Hospitals.

Hi friends today I am writing about SRI SHANKARA CANCER FOUNDATION AND RESEARCH CENTRE. It is a worst hospital.

We had to consult Dr. Natraj at 11.00am. But, the doctor came at12.38 pm. Our time and day was wasted.
Doctor asked us to do a blood test. The nurse took the blood very painfully.

There is a cafeteria to have lunch, breakfast and dinner. There we had butter kulcha, curd rice and north indian meal which had no taste.

There is another cafeteria in ground floor. Here snacks is very tasty. Here I ate french fries which was super tasty. So I request everyone not to visit this hospital. Ok thank you. Bye Bye.

It is a worst management never seen in my life Dr Anand he is not responding correctly to the patients this hospital only for earning purpose staffs are very low class worst people's not respond for patients pain plssssssss no one go for this hospital

They have to increase bill so they will make to stay extra days extra room bill worst insurance disk.

There is no proper management. For the visitors if ur not allowing to the patience room at least you should allow to sit at the reception, if you are not allowing visiters to reception place also then where does the visiters go?

I would like to share today's experience with Dr. Naveen shetty (Orthopedic Oncologist surgeon). Very Good human being rare to find him in these days in doctor profession. Who analysed cause for disease which wasn't found by more then 5+ specialist from past 2 year. Yesterday and today he was with me to visit the scanning department and other to make it happen as if it's his own responsibility he took my responsibility as his and did great work. Today even he was waiting for injections to arrive and did on his own. Really thanks a lot sir personally I would suggest him for any patients in need of orthopedic oncology

Sri Shankara cancer hospital really very wonderful and miracles in curing the diseases. The slogan has temple of healing.

We wanted to consult a particular doctor in the OPD department but were forced by nurses to go to another doctor within the same department. The nurses acted as if we are doing a crime by asking to consult the doctor of our preference. When we pay in advance and take an appointment with a particular doctor, it is only fair that we expect to visit that particular doctor, not anyone else in that department. Nurses, please do what is required of you and guide the patients properly. Also don’t act as if we have committed a great crime when we ask to consult a particular doctor of that department. A very bitter experience indeed!

We did the treatment for my father using Nuclear therapy. The doctors were very positive and told us this is the best way to move forward. We were using Chemo and it was working all fine but this time we switched to nuclear therapy.

After the Nuclear therophi his health started to deteriorate day by day but the doctor said nothing to worry, we eventually lost him in a few weeks.

I would strongly recommend people not using Nuclear therapy with this hospital.

The doctors has changed.if there is emergency it's bit difficult to consult here.the staffs are over whelmed here. I give 2 ratings because of service.lot more there to explain.but not good

Excellent hospital where we get world class treatment at affordable prices. Doctors are very approachable and answer all the queries patiently. They are not money minded and give only the required treatment as needed. They are knowledgeable and trust worthy.

GREATH HEALTHCARE AT AN AFFORDABLE COST:
I am a Finance Professional am used to being treated at the best hospitals in Bangalore and having lived in London for two years have experience of visiting NHS hospitals as well. This review is from a person who had insurance and also the wherewithal to afford a five star hospital but choose Shankara instead

My nearly 80 year old mother was diagnosed with Colon cancer and we admitted her to Columbia Asia Yeshwantpur. Due to an impending eclipse we had to postpone her surgery by a day and used that extra day to take a second opinion.

Luckily for us, we have acquaintences in Shankara and we visited them for the second opinion and decided to shift my mom here.

By the blessings of the almighty, my mother's surgery was successful. Total bill for Shankara was around 3 lacs (Operation + 4 days in ICU + 8 days in a single occupancy Deluxe room). The estimate given by Columbia Asia was 6-8 lacs (one day in ICU and 4 days in a twin sharing room) My mother choose to spend 4 extra days in hospital even after the doctors had signed off her discharge. This itself is a great testimony of the service she got during her stay.

Now coming back to my review of the hospital, both the hospitals are really good. Both are centrally air conditioned.

The staff at both the hospitals were very professional and the nursing care also was great at both hospitals.

Coming to the physical infrastructure - particularly the room - Shankara rooms are much more spacious and since floor 3 and above are recent consutructions, you will find relatively newer bathroom fittings in Shankara compared with Manipal, where things definitely look quite dated and old. Same is the case with the patient bed. In Columbia we had a rickety hand operated ICU bed whereas in Shankara we had a brand new fully automated ICU bed that costs 3-4 times.

Now given that both hospitals are good and have professional staff - which one would you choose?

It comes down to your personal choice. As explained above, the costs in Shankara is anywhere from 30-70% cheaper than Manipal and other such Corporate hospitals. If you are covered under insurance for large amounts, you can choose either. However most private medical insurance coverage is around the 3-5 lakhs range and Shankara would make more sense. I believe they also offer large discounts for patients who cannot afford as this is a not-for-profit hospital run by trust

Here are some apple to apple comparisons between both the hospitals.
(a) Cost of a large Deluxe room in Shankara - Single occupancy - 6-7K a day. This has the fully automated ICU bed
Cost of a twin sharing room in Columbia Asia - 25-30K a day with an old mechanical ICU bed
(b) In Shankara, they provide the attender with a proper single bed. In Columbia Asia they provide the attender a Sofa cum bed which is extremely uncomfortable for sleeping and I was given a broken Sofa cum bed. Even the replacement bed was broken. So much for a 30K a day room!
(c) Shankara is large and spacious and most parts of the building are ventilated by natural light. Columbia Asia is Claustrophobic in comparison.
(d) Both hospitals tend to get crowded, particularly the outpatient parts - but given Shankara is larger, you have more space to sit whereas in Columbia its not uncommon to see people standing
(e) Shankara has a very good vegetarian hotel which is very affordable. Columbia has non veg options but is 2-4 times expensive.

All in All, I have spent two days in Columbia Asia and around 20 days in Shankara (12 days for operation + 3 days each for 3 rounds of Chemo at fortnightly intervals) and am really glad we choose Shankara as we are very impressed with the care we have received so far. Hoping and praying for mom to make a full recovery post her chemo sessions.

It is an excellent hospital with good medical care and treatment. The staff are service oriented and utmost importance is given to cleanliness and maintenance. Patients waiting areas are all equipped with very good seating arrangements. All diagnostics and speciality consulatants are available under one roof.

My mother underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery here and is recovering well.
Dr Sandhya, and team administered chemotherapy and she was very patient with our queries and kept our confidence up during the long weeks of treatment.

Dr. Anand & Dr. Tanushree Paul have been extremely caring during the hard time; soft spoken, empathizing and down to earth. They are truly God sent Angles to people like us. Very good Hospital, Drs are like God. Each patients will be treated equally. Whole team has lots of patience & they advise & diagnose in such way that, patient will be 50% cured by their talk. I'm very much thankful to Dr. Srivatsa N. Nursing is also very good. They never ignore patients. Treat with smile all time. I recommend this hospital strongly. Finally thankful to whole team of Shankara.

Doctors and treatment are good but some Nursing staff has negligence and very slow response. Sometimes they are irresponsible with the medical files of admitted patients in the hospital. The files proceeding from one department to another department is very slow and they misplace it too. They intentionally make patients to stay for a longer duration without proceeding medical files and discharge summary.

The Service is not worth at Isolation centre and the care as expected not getting for COVID patients.

They are very rude & don’t care about patient. My relatives went there 2-3 times. Hard to get appointment without connection. They don’t have time for 5mnt to talk also!

One of the best hospitals as the doctors work with devotion to the cause of alleviating cancer & the allied issues.

The departments work in unison so that the patient and attender are not left in lurch.

The temple inside the campus gives a sense of assurance.

Dr. Srinath is the one who treated my mother. I really felt he's a role model. Very few are like him. Warm and kind hearted person. The lights were on in the washroom when nobody were using it. He himself turned off the switches without asking any of his juniors to do so. This really captured my heart, he seems very humble, disciplined, dedicated and has lot's of patience. Hospital has a good ambience, Oncology Doctors were really amazing. You get good responses and they talk crisp and clear. All your concerns & Doubts are addressed.
While admitted in the ward, Mr. Diwakar (Nursing staff) took care of the patient really good like their parents. Very helpful tips he gave. Much appreciated.

Doctors, Nurses and other medical support team is good.
1. But front desk team providing appointments to doctors/ interactions with patients are very poor. Every week, they come up with new procedure to meet the doctor. It delays our waiting time for more than 2 hours.
2. Day care slot booking system is very poor. They ask us to book the appointment for day care. But when we come for the treatment as early as 9-10 am they ask us to wait for more than 1-2 hours. In that case, I do not see any necessity to ask for booking the slot much prior.
3. Payments team is having a complicated process. It nearly takes 2 hours to finish discharge formalities after treatment is completed.

Huge space to park Vehicles in the Hospital.
Unfortunately the parking space is not concreted & it is full of Dust.
It is not a covered parking space.
Cars get very dirty while it is parked and the pricing is also quiet expensive considering the current environment to park.

Being a doctor i must say it's a great hospital with outstanding infrastructure and most oncologist are very famous & have an amazing track record.

Very rude security team, careless and ruthless maids, doctors busy for meeting new patients. Sisters are well trained. Not sure medicines are changed frequently.

Sri Sankara Cancer Hospital is really  a world class cancer experts in medical care. We are from Hyderabad and my wife Sujatha (146470) was suffering from right side breast Cancer were fortunate to be came to of their dedicated services & healing. Their ambience, professional care, cleanliness, all diagnostic facility under one roof empowered us immense strength & self confidence.

Especially we have enjoyed the personal care & attention in Surgery, Chemotherapy and Radiology by Dr. Srinath, Dr. Sandya Madam & Dr Karthik through their breadth of expertise & technology and we felt like safe, secured to feel a little more like home through whole cycle of her treatment.

All staff were very cordial, attentive and kind and moreover we have never faced any monetary crisis as the bills were affordable and as their in built insurance office took care & responsibility for timely processed all our payments without leaving any constrains to us.

"Worst service in newclear Radiation department"
They are doing drama in Radiation centre
Once we paid advance amnt for Radiation medicine they telling it's coming after one week, after the week they are telling it will take some more time it has to coming from Bombay or out side we can't do anything sorry, and some time they suddenly call we have medicine.
Also they giveing in dose of medicine (newclear Radiation) very less quantity if patients need 100ml dose they giving just 50ml or 60ml.in that ml also they cheating and charging more value amnt, in that method also they are cheating for public this is the most criminal activity!
In that department there are two duty doctors Harish & pallavi both are cheating my wife case issues! Not only me it will happens more patients cases wich i have seen!

Good, affordable hospital. Main point to note, if you can afford HCG is also better as per my understanding. Please do some ground work. This is just my understanding. Though hospital is good, ensure you are meeting some good Dr. Also focus and what treatment they are giving and know about drugs they are giving, side effects. I lost my mom for some reason. Not sure because of not addressing the side effects not addressed properly. Reason can be anything I lost my heart. I'm alive but dead without her. Best for all types of cancer treatment and cheapest also. The motive is no profit and the hospital runs on funds raised by the trust.

In most of the hospital parking is charged, it is acceptable. But here, blood donors also should pay for parking who comes to donate blood components volunterly. Most of the hospitals will not charge for parking for blood donors. Which ever hospitals charge for parking for blood donors, they should stop it

My Mother was treated by Dr. Vishnu Kurpad. He is one of the best doctors I have come across. He is extremely patient friendly, very approachable and down to earth. He has a very calm demeanour that puts the patient at ease and explains things clearly. We are extremely thankful to Dr. Vishnu Kurpad for the successful surgery and for the confidence he has instilled in my Mother and all of us.

Dr. Vishnu Kurpad is one of the few doctors who is an abode of PATIENCE. He is extremely FRIENDLY & COMPASSIONATE towards his patients. Highly KNOWLEDGEABLE and yet very down to earth. Blessed to have met him & experienced his expertise He is the best doctor i would ever suggest to anyone.

Dr Arjun in Shankara Cancer hospital is arrogant never listens to patient. He is disgrace to the hospital. Never go to him for consultation.

It has been an immensely positive experience getting treated at Shankara Cancer Hospital. The hospital is very systematic with well informed ground staff and nurses. This is one of the rare hospitals where you find service minded doctors. My mother underwent her breast cancer surgery here and she was taken very good care of by the surgical oncology team. Her post op care was also top notch with regular visits by dietitians, endocrinologists and regular duty doctors. And since they are a not for profit org, the expenses that you would have to bear as a patient is a fraction of what you would in a corporate multi specialty hospital for the same or dare I say better care.

I have admitted my wife for treatment.
The services of nurse is very poor. We have to find out nurse for any emegency.
In night time the nurses are not available in wards for any emergeny. So post adequate staff of nurse and also house keeping Ayas they are also not available at requuired time, to help patients. So please take action.

Centrally located which is a big boon for cancer patients who have to come regularly for their chemo or radiology. Qualified and experienced Staff.

Best option for cancer related issues, Best doctors are available and also the entire staff, very cooperative team.

Drawbacks is pharmacy, Need more staff for maintaining it. They are taking 20 to 30 mins to issue medicines for inpatient also.

Worst thing is they are charging heavily for vehicle parking without any parking facility made, management need to look at it.

I called them for appointment of Dr K S Nataraj more than 50 times, but most of them don't know he's from which department, most of them don't know who this Dr is & many times they faultly connect you to lab & then the lab person bashes you, no doubt the hospital is very good, the doctors are excellent, but the staff who answer the calls are not professionals

Please don't go for this hospital we lost our father, there many ayurvedic medicine available it will cure very fast please don't go for this hospital your kind advice. Ayurvedic medicine in Giddaluar prakashan District (Andhrapradesh) and kerla we have very good herbal treatment.please don't go for shankar hospital.

High standard hospital with reasonable cost. Staff and Doctors are highly qualified and disciplined.

Parking space is adequate. However, it's not paved. It's paid parking. Rs. 20/ hr for an unpaved ground is not worth.

Approached the hospital with a request for radiation treatment post cancer surgery done in
an other hospital.
The doctor in charge of the hospital informed that they will not allow the radiation treatment for surgeries done outside their hospital.this being a charitable hospital refusing the radiation treatment when many hospitals do not have the facility is unethical.the interaction of some doctors with the patient / atendents is not cordial since surgery was not under them is really painful when patients already suffering from the dreaded decease is inhuman.
Whereas when approached BGS hospital they welcomed happily.

Empathy is the most essential component in health care. Do the needful to patient's who trusted you. That's all. Iam not here to make an issue.

The doctors and the hospital is good but the administration is the worst they are money minded and only think of money they dont think of anything else.the lady who works in administration always demands to bring something or other and is always on neck asking patients relatives to bring something or other. Nurses have no courtsey and duty doctors dont clarify anything when asking questions

I am going here with someone my relatives, he have non hodkins lymphoma 4th stage. He don't know about when its happened with him. Let's hope here he will fight with Lymphoma and hope will win over this cancer problem. This hospital is really good and middle class people also can take treatment here. It's better than HCG and more others.

Worst experience from general medicines store dept from upper basement. And few nurses are irresponsible in day care and ward.
They act as if they r serving the patients for free I'm giving 2 stars because of the doctor's they r really good and professional at work.

My dad went through surgery and had to stay for almost a month in the hospital due to complications. In overall, we had a good experience.

Positives

Hospital is very clean, qualified doctors and nurses, reasonable price. The doctors who treated my dad were very good and guided us all along the way.

Room for improvement

Pharmacy service process needs improvement. The caretakers of the patient is asked to get the medicine multiple times on a daily basis. In our case, caretaker was not a family member and would run short of money sometimes to buy the medicine and the staff would wait until the family member comes to administer the medicine. This process was bit frustrating. Hospital doesn't have the option for advance payment to Pharmacy or the option of including it as part of the billing process. It'll be easier and efficient if the hospital staff can use the medicine from the storage and bill it to patient.

As good as the doctors are, barring a few, the staff (including the medicine dispensary) is equally bad - insufferable at times. They forget their job is treating cancer patients, and are moody to say the least. If not for the doctors, (or affordability for some) I would suggest any other hospital.

Doctors, therapist, nurses are good. But the ground staffs (front office) should learn how to talk, dont have manners and dobt know how to be polite. Worst service from them. But Dr. Karrhik Rishi and Dr. Ravi tippeswamy are the best.

Well we are extremely delighted by the treatment we received at the hospital. The care n concern that the doctors and staff of the hospital showed towards us is most unlikely to be seen in any other hospital. Be it hygine, moral support or cleanliness this hospital is par excellence. Would like to make a special mention about the urology team headed by Dr Srivatsa N an his colleague sister Asha who helped us during our tough times.

One of the best cancer institute in the country with service minded and caring attitude towards patients. We went for Hodgkin Lymphoma case, 4 cycles of chemo are done, the way they care of patients is simply admirable. Our doctor team was Dr. Ravi Diwakar and Dr. Sandhya Appachhu who take care of my mom by advising correct chemo regime and proper follow ups and teamwork with other doctors concerned. The hospital is led by Dr. B S Srinath who is an expert maestro in this field. I have shared and article of his interview in my review, do read it. The cost of treatment is also moderate. The hospital works on no profit no loss model. Most of the places u can see the donor board, which justifies its model of working. All the staff from admission, nursing, pharmacy, doctors, billing, management and canteen are so humble and treat us in the best possible way which makes us have a feel of home or temple rather than hospital. One of the finest hospitals. Doctors are so experienced and so cordial, treatment is given at its best. Above all the nursing and admin staff are outstanding and the hospitality is very good.

My relatives have taken treatments over here.one request for hospital management.those who are on the death bed allow them to die with dignity.don't show them hell. The doctors are good.but because of excess patient inflow they don't have time to attend patiently individual person.patient counselling and nursing care is bad.especially in the 2nd floor wards.no doctor no nurse no attender at night.bed ridden patients with bed wetting had to be in the soiled clothes all night because nobody was there to attend to them.they just said no gown.what an excuse.
I feel doctors are equally responsible as management.trust hospital is just a name.for those patient with inability to walk and self care.suffering is too much as nursing care is bad.

Doctors and treatment is good. But long waiting hours at the hospital to meet doctors. And also doctors are not easily accessible on phone when required to talk about patient in case of emergency.
Front desk requires more friendly people (ESPECIALLY THE LADIES) with patience to respond to queries of patients/attenders (considering their state of mind at least)
Parking lot fee for cars is too high!

My one of relatives taking treatment in this hospital. Hospital.is very good and very clean. Except few staff, and few Nursing staff. But only one problem is long waiting for doctors. Treatment is good. Depends on patients are in which stage of cancer Cost wise compared to other hospitals it is very cheap. In Canteen, food is very good very reasonable price. In general hospital is very good

My brother was treated here for cancer. Doctors and staff gave their best in helping my brother get his cancer cured and recover from cancer drug effect. He is now on maintenance dose. I see same care and enthusiasm from doctor and the staff. The support staff like Insurance claim, pharmacy, reception, admission, blood test lab doctors secretaries and the housekeeping staff are equally cheerful and helpful. Hospital in a hygiene place. My salute to Dr Srinath. He deserves Padma Bhushana for his selfless service. Many patients and care givers like us have immensely benefited from the the hospital care.

Very pathetic service, they don't even plan for the treatment, for 2 days chemo it takes 5 days in this hospital, security staff are rude& they are biased, nursing staff are not properly trained,
