Whenever, someone wants to see Beach in Mangalore, they say Sultan Battery. You have a boat service from this place to travel. There is nothing much to see around, but you can spend some time just roaming and having something to eat. There is a small fort like structure to climb and enjoy the breeze.
Nice place to visit. We visited this place on Monday in August when all the beaches were closed due to rainy season. Typical backwater place where you will found multiple temples and ferry to take you to Thannirbhave beach. Ferry cost is around 15/- per person. You will like the 10min ferry ride which will take you to the beach as this beach is one of the most beautiful beaches of Mangalore.
Historic place. This was probably an ammunition godown cum watch tower built by erstwhile kings or local palegars of the area to safeguard their territory.
This is a historical monument protected by the archeological survey of India. From here you have a wonderful view of the backwaters. It's one such a relaxing spot, or a tourist destination in mangalore with a historical importance. As a tourist, it's a serene place to view sunset and just be one with the nature. Nature is at it's best. Plan your sunset at this beach its just beautiful and peaceful. You can take a ferry ride which will take just 4-5 min (the last ferry will be at 7: 30pm) or go by road to the beach if you wish to stay a little longer
Sultan bathery karnataka is very beautiful place to visit.beautiful time to visit is in the evening. After 4 pm. Where you can get to travel in fairy boats and enjoy the water rides and the best thing is to witness the sun set over ther. As it is connected to arabian sea it looks very pretty good in the evening time to visit the beach on the other side.must visit to sultan bathery will blow your mind.
Very beautiful and attractive place. One of Calm and peaceful place in Mangalore, close to nature. One can enjoy the beautiful river view from here. This place has a historic watch tower.
Very neat and clean park. Children will love this place for an evening play as it as sliding board, swing, merry go round and so on.its breezy and good to spend time with family
A fantastic pinnacle that was built just to see and watch out for the assailants and intruders previously and during the battle in our set of experiences. Tipu Sultan fabricated the lookout, being the most thrilling traveler spot to step in. Don’t forget to visit the ferry and park which is at walkable distance.
Nice place to visit. Boating is available. Children park is there. Good restaurant with many eating options. Clean area. Family friendly. Good sunset point.
Pros: - Historical Place. - Good Views of the River.
Cons: - Not well maintained. - No proper connectivity. - it's jus a small tower, nothing to see or do.
Verdict: - Go only if You're free and nothing else to do, you can probably take a boat ride to the beach on other side which is more fun and exciting than this.
Nice view from top side, when we went rain is coming, lots of plant need to cut, watch for small insects and warm, good to visit, ground floor and underground tunnel need to discover
It's a very small place kind of fort on the way to Tannirbhavi beach. Not a place come to see specifically, however you can visit on the way if you hv time.
Nice place but Nothing much to see and the boat journey to thaneerbhavi beach is very short. It would have been great if the boat journey was a bit longer
View from the fort is not that great infact, but u can go through boat which is cool who haven't gone in boat, also by walking 300m from there u will reach tannirbhavi beach
Ample parking space. There are some recreation activities built there for kids. However the Sultan battery could have been better managed by keeping some of the old cannons. There is no fee for visiting the place.
The place is nice. We go there for the ferry ride to Thannirbhavi beach. The watch tower is a good photograph spot. The only problem we felt was that auto rickshaws aren’t easily available. If the stand is empty one has to wait for long or travel by bus.
Not much to watch other than the small watch tower like structure. This place has ferry service to Thannirbhavi beach. Also there is a temple and a kids playing area. There is parking ground where you can park your car and walk to the ferry ticket counter then to ferry
Sultan battery is a watch tower is situated in the river bank of Gurpura is in Boloor, 4 km from the centre of city mangalore. This watch tower constructed by Tipu sultan. It"s one of the tourist attraction in mangalore and also is this place a short way to Tannirbhavi beach, crossing the Gurpura river by ferry. This a good place spend an hour and enjoy with famalies, some eataries and snacks is avilable for bit it.
one can easily go to tannirbhavi beach from Sultan Battery as boat rides are available from here.the view from sultan battery fort is awesome.this place can be reached by Bus or Auto.take some best photographs
Located on the river banks, a small Sultan battery! Very scenic place with lot of photo opportunities. Make sure to take a boat ride to access nearby island for fun and a picnic. Place is accessible by bus.
It's one of the few toursit spots which mangalore offers. It used to be a watch tower during Tipu Sultan rule, and was built to make sure that East India company doesn't come through this route to attack on tipu sultan's region. It offers nothing apart from average views. Its condition doesn't look very promising despite its history. It can be avoided for sure if one is not having time while visiting mangalore.
It's the port to reach Tannirbavi beach by a boat at the charge of just 7rs, the place is well maintained but still one can see that "tourists" can never maintain such a beautiful place. People litter the river. The management people are seen cleaning always.
It is a great place to spend quality time with your family and loved ones and also in solitude. Calm and quite place. Has really developed over the period of time.
There is boat facility from here to Tannirbaavi beach which is a great option. Good seating arrangements and refreshments available. There is a fort too.
Parking place good, there is a jail like structure near on the bank of the sea which was built during ancient days, most of the people go to tanneer baavi beach from here, you need to buy tickets here first, and at the same place boat will come and pick you and will drop you on the other side of the river which is near to tanniv baavi beach, but you cannot take your vehicle in boat, only passengers can go
Scenic spot to visit early morning or after sunset, next to the Gurupur river and across from the tanir Bhavi beach, which could accessed through a short boat ride from 7 am to 7 pm.
