Suryawanshi Restaurant

On Sunday 1 pm to 2.30 pm most food options were not available. Had been to the restaurant after checking on the call.
The fish served was almost uncooked and red inside. Overall left a bad after taste and a upset stomach.
Service wise food was late and atomosphere close to any government canteen.

We visited this place for dinner on a Sunday evening, the place was not crowded at all.

Food - Tried a couple things:
• Kohlapuri Chicken Masala
• Yellow Dal Tadka
• Tava Fish
• Vada Pav
Though every dish was really good but Chicken Masala and Dal were lip smacking. Overall everything was towards the spicier end.
Solkadhi was quite revitalising.

Ambience - Quite spacious and decent enjoyable ambience

Definitely a go to place for spicy Maharashtra food.

Will not recommend for dine in. Looks like the place is shutting down soon. Food wasn’t great as well compared to previous experience

Mainly people judge the behaviour and i am most impressed by restaurant Staff, special who sit in the desk, thank you bro for this, kind of welcome, hope your restaurant go good sale.

Went there with lot of homes about their fish and non veg thali. The chicken rassa was bland and the fish fry was cold. The plates didn't look too clean beother did the ambience and space.worse than a roadside mess.felt uneasy in the stomach after eating their food

We visited this place on holiday, there was less staff but still we were provided good service, slow service but good service.

We ordered:
1 - Puranpoli - It was good.
2 - Modak - We were lucky enough to get modak as it was Ganesh Chaturthi that day, but the modak lacked fillings.

3 - Misal Pav - I've had Misal Pav in other places as well, but I like it here, they did justice to it.

4 - Ussal vati + Bhakri - It was tasty but I'll warn you, it is spicy.

5 - Kanda bhajji - This could have been more crispy, but the taste was nice

Overall a good experience.

Service needs to be improved. We come for Hot Rassa we get a cold Rassa. We come for Hot Chapati we get cold.

Overrated, less quantity, high price and below average taste, even the dining area is not good, doesn't look hygienic

The restaurant's service and taste doesn't come close to what they serve in their indiranagar branch.

I had sabudana khichdi and puran poli here. It tasted like home cooked food.

Even the place is spacious, and i find it clean also. I liked this place and i will again visit it for some good food.

It was giving good food and taste but in recent experience brings. Reduction in quality and increased cost. - charging extra for Sol kadhi n pandhra rassa is really bad marketing trick.you can earn short term profit but in long run it will not give benefits

Fish curry no way close to malvani cusino. Fish fry was worst

Don't sell anything in the name of malvani and kolhapuri if you don't have proper cook

Restaurant Was Good As I am From Maharashtra I am looking For Maharashtrian Food And Found Suryawanshi, every thing was Good Except Food Prise Restaurant Food is Too expensive in Maharashtra Same Food we enjoy in half prise.

My review is only for the puran poli dish. It is horrendously prepared and has no resemblance in either looks or taste with authentic maharashtrian version of puran poli. So if you want to taste authentic maharashtrian puran poli, please do not even think about the Suryawanshi restaurant for it.

Visited this place few days ago for lunch.
Sharing my experience for this wonderful meal that I had here.

Firstly this place is very simple and homely.
Tried kharada chicken which was a spicy preparation but absolutely delicious, paired this with chapathis and totally felt like home made food.

Prawns sukha and fish rava fry was delicious, flavorful and freshly made to order.
Puran Poli was also made hot and with generous stuffing.

Overall a great place for some good food and service.
Will definitely visit again to try a lot of other dishes on their menu.

They have Nice ambiance but bit costly sabudana vada they charged for 120 rs per plate and taste is also not that good

Went there on a quite Sunday evening. The place is known for its nice Maharashtrian food. Don't go by ambience but they give some real good fare when it comes to Maharashtrian dishes.

We ordered a fish fry which was well done, not too oily had nice flavours to it.
Chicken sukka was well done chicken in home style starter. It was well done with masala, again not over spicy but nicely spiced.

We chose mutton keema and chicken thali in mains. Chicken thali has a chicken sukka, a chicken gravy and salan kind of gravy served with rice and chapattis. Was well done and nicely priced. Good for 2 for sure.

Parking can be a constraint if its a 4 wheeler. So plan accordingly if you want to enjoy your meal carefree.

If you’re craving for delicious Vada Pav, wholesome meal of Pav Bhaji, spicy Misal Pav, comforting Puran Poli, Pithla Bhakri, Poha and whatnot, then I feel you. You might be missing your mother’s homemade Maharashtrian food here in Bangalore. This little place in Sarjapur has got it all ️

Went with a lot of expectations and got disappointed. Test is average, service is good. Little bit costly.

Nice place for Marathi people to taste their Maharashtrian Spicy Non-Veg food.
But the ambience was not that good.

When it comes to food, I love to explore different cuisines.
So one such weekend I visited Suryawanshi.
As most of you must be aware they serve Maharashtrian cuisine and I was impressed by the authenticity they provide.
Its a humble meal experience!

what I tried here?
Anjal Rava fry- when it comes to sea food I love it bound in rava It had the perfect crisp texture outside & soft well cooked texture inside. Also, less oil & healthy.kharada chicken sukha- a super spicy chicken preparation. Chicken was juicy, tender & well blended flavours.
Was a perfect match to have with Chapathi. If you are a spicy food lover you must try this.

Prawns sukha - was a semi Tomato based gravy preparation which was well cooked and simple flavours and goes really well with the rotis.

Puran Poli - was delicious with generous filling and dollop of ghee smeared over it. They make it fresh on order.shirkhand- is yogurt based dessert and was smooth, flavorful with cardamom & saffron blended in perfectly.

Overall a very humble & homely food experience.
Dont miss the thalis here and the Maharastrian local fare like Sabudana vada, misal pav etc.
You will definitely love the food here.
Priced very economically too.

The Thalis are a must try. Tried veg stuff here. Vada pav was good as was the Sabudana vada. Mr Suryawanshi is passionate about his business and oversees the preps himself.

Very calm and simple place with homely and hygienic maharashtrian food.
Started with misal pav with perfect spice level, sabudana vada and sabudana khichdi which were really good to try and vada pav which was the best among starters. Must try!

Their thalis are really wholesome, i tried the jawari thali with sabzi of the day and it was really good.
For desserts i had puran poli which was just perfection ️

The batata vada is to die for.closest to mumbai vada pav I have had in bangalore. Sabudana khichdi is my 2nd most fav.excellent stuff for those missing mumbai vada pav and sabudana khichdi etc.

Bad experience during our Sunday family lunch in Suyravanshi Sarjapur.
The food was badly delayed. We came at 1.20pm with two hungry kids. The waiter had told us that it will take 15 mins to prepare the food. We were ok with 15 min wait BUT by the time the food came it was 2.15pm. For a whole hour we were waiting and the owner just kept seeing 10 mins. All these while, he continued to take Zomato requests instead of catering to his in-house guests. At one point we got up frustrated but he again requested us to sit. Even when the food came after an hour, it came in parts and that too when most of food was almost finished. Jhunka-Bhakri thali was changed to plain Roti etc but by this time it was dont-ask-just-eat policy by the owner. At such a stage, any restaurant owner with minimal decency would waive off some charge but this guy said as a favour he has not charged for the bhakri since its replaced by Roti and instead charged for the butter milk which he had missed in the thali. The food although on the spicier side was edible, so 1 star for the food. But 0 stars for the service. Avoid if you can.

This place used to be much better but recently has lost its charm. The food is terribly delayed and is pretty expensive for the ambience and the food. We ordered the Junka Bhakri thali and the fish thali. Not only was the food terribly delayed it came in bits and pieces. The food is utterly expensive for basically home food and that too veg. The fish was stale and most of the items in the thali were missing. We just ate what we got cause anything else ordered will take another hour and spent money worth a five star hotel food. Not going there again, for sure

worst Maharashtrian food i ever had. I had ordered Chi. Malwani handi (which was just Chicken masala gravy), and Chi. Kolhapuri (which was like butter chicken gravy filled chilli powder in it and nothing else).
Bhakar was good.chapati was ok ok.and egg bhurji was nice

Suryawanshi chicken special thali is Amazing must try. Amazing flavours bit costly but worth it

Taste is okay kind not exactly like Maharashtrian food. Specially their tambada and pandhara rasaaa is bad in taste. Smells different. Fish thali is good. It's very costly though than other restaurants like they sell gold only. Kindly reduce the prices which I feel is big con of this restaurant.

Looking for authentic Maharashtra malvani food, do visit this place at Sarjapur road. This week they are shifting to a near by bigger and better place which also has a parking. In snacks category don't miss the BATATAWADA n lasun chutney.
In meals try their MALVANI CHICKEN CURRY N JAWAR bhakti.
In set Thalia, do try their prawns Thalia. Value for money. Courteous manager and staff. Thought they all would speak Marathi, but the did not.

Nonveg food is awesome. Home of Authentic Marathi food. Place is quite difficult to find and there is no car/bike parking.

Just love the mutton here. The meals are a definitely overpriced but also the best non-veg Marathi meals available in town.

My favourite is the puri/puranpoli+aamras.
Service is slow and haphazard, primarily because they prepare things fresh. A small price to pay for amazing food at decent prices.

A good hole in the wall kind of a place on sarjapur main road, serving malvani cuisine. Home style food. Liked the keema pav, the thalis and sol kadhi.

Cost is too high.simply overrated for the dishes they provide! I didn't felt any marathi taste in this place. Highly Not recommended.

It's a Malvani (Maharastrian) style restaurant on Sarjapur main road. Difficult to recognize from the road as it's on the first floor. Absolutely no parking facility. The food is really good specially if you are a fan of maharastrian flavors. It's a calm restaurant wherein you can enjoy your time peacefully having your mail.

Good Maharashtrian/Kolhapuri food. All the veg items are very well made. My friends say meat and fish items are great too. Restaurant is hygienic.

A very nice restuarant located on sarjapur road close to Wipro that serves simple food veg and non veg (Marathi/Gujarati style). This food is good and worth the money. Service is also decent. They have other branches in various locations across Bangalore.

Understaffed but food is great. Different veg and non-veg thalis make for a delightful meal. Parking can be a hassle due to location. They have 7 tables and one literally has four rickety office chairs.

The service is fantastic. The people who own it are very passionate, which is evident if you have a conversation with them.

The Vada Paav was good and reminded me of some of the really good ones I had during my Mumbai visits.

The Misal Pav was tasty but too runny for my liking. Sabudana Vada was amazing. Must, must have. My son had Shrikhand Puri and loved it. After all this, it was difficult to take a go at the Thalis, which we still ordered. Everything in it was fine.

I am a huge Vangi fan but this one was a little too bland in taste. Varan also lacked flavor. I had the Zhunka Bhakri Thali - both items I loved.

If you are looking for authentic Maharashtrian food, this is the right place to be.

Food and Drinks
The food felt very homely, and had the use of simple ingredients.yet so flavourful.

From the Chaat section we tried
Misal pav- best eaten spicy
Vada pav- the patty was so crisp and even though it did not have overtness of spices, it tasted so well.
Sabudana vada and Sabudana khichdi. - Vada was good. Khichdi had good flavour of ghee coming through just like home. Delicious.

Kharda paneer - the green chilli paste added that extra zing and elevated the dish altogether, and I really liked it.

Solkadhi has kokum as major ingredient, and is a part of every traditional meal and a great digestive. It is surely not to be missed here.
Kokum sharbat had a sweet base and was good as well.
For main course we tried jhunka bhakri thali. Jhunka was extremely flavourful and my best pick from the thali spread. Rest of the items had decent flavours.

Desserts- Puran poli is a must must try here.
It is basically flatbread stuffed with gram pulse and jaggery, flavoured with cardamom and ghee. I ordered a second serving.

Shrikhand (flavoured yoghurt) and amrakhand (mango yoghurt) were yum as well.

Service was courteous and good. Would definitely visit again to try other dishes.

Food was decent. I ordered veg Thalia which had one dry veg, one curry veg, 2daal, roti and rice. Thalia was nice but roti could have been fresh. Overall thali was decent. Place is ok nothing where I will go with family. Some of there non veg stuff especially malvani preparation looks interesting. I would go for thali again and try non veg or order home delivery.but not for eating out with family. Recommended for thali or snacks or home delivery for sure. Try for sure and let me know what you feel.

Best restaurant to try Maharashtrian cuisine. Try their Prawns Rava Fry and Solkadi. Enjoy their variety of Thali. Worth a visit for Sarjapur people.

A hidden gem for Seafood and Maharashtrian/ Kolhapuri food in Sarjapur! Their thalis are too good, you name it and you have it here, seafood, Mutton, chicken, everything with bang on flavours from Maharashtra! Loved every bit of it. Though Sarjapur road is pretty screwedup with all the digging work, but what the hell, go for it this place and you won't be disappointed for sure.

It good place.but the entrance is too small.and they don't have lift.so people who have problem in climbing stairs will find it difficult to reach.food was ok could be tried once.

Nice authentic Marathi Restaurant. We tried the Misal Pao and Veg and Chicken Thalis.
All portions were perfectly sized and the taste was really flavorful, with Rich aromas of whole spices.
The solkadhi and aamras deserve special mention.

The ambience is minimalist and staff is polite, courteous and serve with a smile.

Food is good but isn’t taste that much authentic. Had Kheema, Mutton Sukka, Fish fry. Fish fry was too much oily while I found the mutton sukka was taste like some local dish.

This is our go to restaurant. Authentic Marathi Cuisines. Friendly staff, well maintained. I specially like Chicken Fried Thali, Aamras, Puran poli. For spiceovers I would recommend Misal Pav and Mutton keema.

Best place to go for Maharashtrian food.you will get the authentic taste! The food is very tasty I tried both veg and non veg and masala used are home-made, you can taste that homely feeling in food. Owner and staff are very friendly.

I ordered lassi and got delivered some really bad quality of something which was stinking, definitely not qulified to call it as food. Not sure how other food is delivered and prepared. I would certainly not going to recommend this to anyone.

Authentic and tasty Maharashtrian cusine. Malvani dishes are particular standouts along with Chapati/Bhakris.
Ambience is very simple, service is ok (few more staff could help). No dedicated parking, you need to park on the road-side (this portion of Sarjapur road is very narrow and is traffic congested most of the time).
Food is value for money because of it's authenticity and consistency.if you don't crave Maharashtrian food or are trying out first time, then you may find it to be slightly pricier (especially compared to Nandinis/Nandanas/Rashtrakutas/Anjappars for nonveg). But it's truly worth it for the unique home-made taste.

Repeat visit restaurant for sure.

Good option to enjoy Maharashtrian delicacies. Vada pav and Sabudana vada, kat vada pav, vada usal to name few. Misal pav is a must try. Also, there several good options in non veg menu. Rava fried fish and prawns are too good to miss. There is chicken wade, mutton wade thali and fish thali available. In sweets, Amaras poori, Shrilhand poori, Gulab jam and Pooran Poli available. Solkadhi is also good to have post meal. One recommendation, some of the menu changes daily. So if you are visiting for a particular delicacy, check with them before visiting. Weekends usually ideal time to visit. Everything will be available.

With that lineance we chose our choices for 3 of us in the huge Menu!
Vada Pav, Saabudana Vada, Saabudana Kitchdi, Misaal Pav, Chatpata Bhindi Fry, Karela Fry, Gala Mutton Thali, Gala Veg Thali, Shrikhand and Puranpoli Aamras!
And yes Bangda Fish Fry!

Along with our Poona style Jhunka Bakri Thali we chose extra curries Bhindi and Karela made our Thali more huger that two of us shared it!
It had Solkaadi, Varan, Aaloo curry, Jamun Jwarchi Bhakri, Besan veggie delicate Pegeant gravy Jhunka, Thecha, Koshambir with - was good but very mildly spicy and is priced at 280/- is a lil expensive for me!
With this amazing Thali and a lot of starters and special curries we were too full!
Dessert is not be missed - Puran Poli with Aamras - I am a person who prefers my Puran to made of Tuvar Dal but yes I like Ds too which is made of Chana Dal which is ok with Aamras which helped me to enjoy the taste completely!

And we chose Splendid Gala Mutton Thali of Kolhapuri Style and it has everything we wanted and good spiced meal!
It had Exotic Kolhapuri Mutton Sukha, Mutton masala, Mutton Kheema Masala with simple rotis, Tambda Rasa, Pandhra Rassa, Solkaadi, Rice, Sweet and a simple salad for 480/- is a Great Deal because of the huge mutton pieces and we were completely convinced with pricing and Portion of it - Exotic and not to miss
Coming to the Malvani cuisine we chose just a simple Bagda fry which was very good and we were too full!
