This is regarding the tajmal hotel near railway station. We have been coming to this hotel for more than 3 decades.recently last few times. The service and taste has been totally compromised.
The sambar is like water. Idli was cold. When informed this to the waiter they seem to not care about anything. We asked for little extra chutney.the staff manager "Mr Vinayak Gaytunde" actually said.we gave you once that it.take it if you want.for which we even said we will pay extra for it if you want.
He showed such a bad attitude.as if we were we are favouring them by going to their resturant, having tastless & cold food.and pay them.
We had even ordered their signature biscuit roti.must really say.they have lost the charm. Now.would be great if the management really improves and understand they, are in hospitality industry.and instead if showing some stupid attitude. They should really think of improving and focusing on quality and service.
Sad that a brand like Taj mahal. Has lost their charm.
Worst hotel I have ever visited in my life, the food is bad. All the staff here are very arrogant, Can you imagine the person at the counter using abusive words at the customer for sitting for half an hour having coffee and breakfast, Yes it happens here. Worst hotel, Please don’t visit this place and get disappointed and Shocked at this worst behaviour here. All I can do is warn you, so that you don’t ruin your day. Worst hotel
This place has been in business for so long. I had placed a huge order along with biscuit rotti, I kept asking the guy if he has placed my item in my bag along with other items to which he agreed he has. I saw a similar packet as mine on the counter and checked again if it was mine but the cashier kept denying. Once I reached home I unloaded all items and found this specific biscuit rotti item missing. I had to go back spending money on auto to and fro for this. While returning back when I mentioned this incident I was told they do this deliberately so that I hey can consume this for evening snack. I am very disappointed.
This is one of the oldest restaurants in Mangalore. The food is simply amazing and simple. The poori masala is a favourite, as we don't get that masala in Bangalore. The chow chow bath was good. Upma was a little sweet. Coffee was the right strength and taste. Kadubu idly and rava idly were also very good. Chutney and sambar are a little watery for my liking, but the taste was good. Definitely a must try when in Mangalore.
One of the best mangalore style breakfast I ever had. It’s a small restaurant, but quality and taste is very good. Don’t expect 5 star style service qualities, it’s decent enough. Decent amount of parking space, value for money. Overall very good experience.
Must try items as per my experience are Buns, Biscuit Roti, Poori, Golibajji and their Coffee.
The goli bajjis were both crisp and soft. The waiter recommended capsicum bajji, it was a thin crust and tasty. We had the poori, both the potato and chutney were worth going to eat, simple flavours.
Visited this place on 27th Dec 2020. Very poor quality service. Dosa was very thick and not good the batter was not properly made. Coffee felt like water with tons of sugar and coffee powder. Biscuit roti was too hard. The only thing that good was Buns. Very late service as well.
Worst, Worst, Worst Extremely Overpriced Most Items tried here were either Worst, Horrible or Bad. Please don't go by this Review. Nothing but Dirty Taste Very Very Over Priced
Always a good place for a south indian breakfast /snack. The rava dosa here is always crisp and fresh. The tea and coffee over here is very famous! Has both AC and Non - AC seating areas. The buns here are fresh in the morning and evening and is a must try.
One of the oldest restaurant in manglore.favorite destination for breakfast since childhood.clean n well maintained.u can say Best place for breakfast in Mangalore. Love there tea coffee buns.dhai vada.u get good wheat halwa.
Quality of food and rates not compromising. Not economic and pocket friendly comparing other nearby hotels in the locality.
Today 24/11/2019 at 6.30AM I visited to this hotel I had my breakfast for 175/- (idli sambar 1 plate consisting 2 normal medium sized idlies 1 small katori of insufficient sambar charged 50/-; 1 plate puri bhaji consisting 2 normal medium sized puri with small katori of Aaloo bhaji charged 50/-; 1 plate of Mangalore Buns consisting 2 number for 50/- and coffee 150ml at Rs. 25/-). The waiter was lazy fellow with slowly serving. The same stuff with same quantity/quality is served at nearby restaurants at 120/-. So I rated unwillingly 2 stars.
Must try tuppa dosa which is very tasty.also tasted teek roti which looks like poori but has some little bit different taste.but not up to the mark.and then Mangalore buns which looks like a North Indian dish kachori which is also just ok.finally their coffee which is good to taste but not that much hype for especially to go and drinking with the positive reviews which says an extra- ordinary coffee is available here.
Ordered a special veg thali, worth Rs 95. And it was worth it.starting from soup and ending with an option of gulabjamun/ice cream. Simple food at its best. A bit old fashioned though, but each and everything was just worth it!
Taj Mahal hotel at Mangaluru is also famous for South Indian Thali (Rs 75/-). Starter Tomato soup is served and later you can opt for Brown Rice or White rice. The service is good and the waiters are very polite and courteous, good to visit once again in Mangaluru.
Some places are famous because of its history and how long they have been in business, so this is one of those places!
This place is in heart of the city near to Central railway station and old bus stand hence its bit helpful for tourists with their luggage to settle down for a quick bite, the service is very quick which is good in both A/C and non A/C.
Local dishes are good like buns, masala dosa, vada sambar but some of the others dishes are not good. Food is bit more expensive comparing to its tastes.
People who wants to visit should forget about parking (who are visiting by there own vehicles) mainly don’t forget to carry cash as they don’t entertain cards or any other payment mode.
Iconic restaurant serving South Indian Konkani food. They also have a sweet and savouries shop where you can buy their signature banana and wheat halwa. Must try if you are in Mangalore
Some places are famous coz of its history and how long they have been in business. This is one of those places. The place is near for transport services and hence is helpful for tourists with luggage and stuff. The service is very quick which is highly commendable. Been with my family and had limited food that consisted of few Thalis and some other food varieties. Was very disappointed there.sub standard taste. Not at all worth the high price. People who still want to visit should forget about parking spots and carry cash as they don't entertain cards.
Legendary place, has a history of over 50 years, Food is ok, service is fast, limited parking space. They have 2 outlets but should try this place for its old world charm. Must vist place for vegetarian food in Mangalore
It's an very old one in mangaluru.but an one and only very good South Indian restaurant in mangaluru. I could say it's not the best but good comparing to others.
Clean, hygienic place with wide range of rice-based items. The sweet shop is also a good place to pick up the famous Mangalore halwa and crisp savouries
It's very costly. Poor serving. ₹25/- for coffee. Worst one. No taste. I expected more, because I heard its history From others. But after visiting I realized waste of coming. Late serving
One of the oldest and renowned vegetarian restaurants located bang in the centre of the city, with lots of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner both in South Indian and North Indian styles.
One of the oldest and best known land mark place in Mangalore opposite to wenlock district hospital usually very busy in peak hours and notorious for it's BUNS and Tuppa dosa poori& baji masala dosa and pakoda.and many more varieties.crowded neatness is reasonably ok at out side place.but there a Is an a/c cabin usually filled most of the time.the staff are pretty good and working for years together.sweet store located outside good for motichoor laddu and onion pakodi.
Nice veg restaurant in mangalore near mangalore central railway station. Veg thali is very good. Lot of items for breakfast. Mangalore style dishes like buns, goli baje are good and other are just average. It's usually crowded during breakfast and lunch. Service is good. Ambiance is just OK.
