Great organization which is feeding mid-day meal to more than 1.7 million school children everyday. It is one of the largest NGO with world's largest kitchen (at Hyderabad).
While it is a NGO, the functioning is modeled after a corporate company. There are departments and culture is quite professional at the HO. They have implemented ERP etc.
TAPF is functioning in more than 12 states and has over 40 kitchens. Individual states have separate structures.
Overall, it is an organization which is working to remove hunger from classroom.

The headquarters of the mission which is out of this world. Started with a humble beginning in the early 2000s and now grown to a massive scale of serving over 16 Lakh school children across India, Akshaya Patra has become the largest mid day meal program of the land. Started by monks in Bangalore ISKCON, to fulfill the vision of the greatest Acharya of modern times Srila Prabhupada that no one in 10km radius of any ISKCON temple should go to bed hungry, and supported by corporates and kind hearts across the globe, the scale of operations handled by this non profit organization is humongous. To understand some part of it, it's worth paying a visit to this headquarters building located opposite to the ISKCON Bangalore temple itself.
