My go to place for ‘cha’, singara and adda. This is a very small eatery modelled around the road side tea-stalls of Bengal. One of the best places in Bangalore to try finger and fast foods of Kolkata. I have been visiting this place for the last 9 years and the quality has been consistent. The owners and staff are very courteous, polite and kind. If you are visiting in the evenings I would advise you to carry some odomos. While they would put some mosquito coil, fumes from the coil might bother some and the odomos can come handy.
A visit to Kitchen of Joy in Indiranagar is a delightful escapade into the essence of Bengali cuisine, encapsulated in their Chicken Moghlai Paratha.
The modest roadside setup with limited seating is juxtaposed against the captivating wall clocks that add a unique charm. Though the place gets quite bustling.
I'll recommend it for people having liking of Bengali Cuisine.
The Kitchen of Joy left me unimpressed with its attempt at replicating Bengali flavors. The food lacked the true essence of the cuisine, offering only a faint resemblance. Furthermore, the high prices did not match the underwhelming quality on my visit. Overall, I found the experience to be overrated and the cost unjustified for what was served.
This place serves the most authentic Bengali food. Hats- off to them for not playing with the original taste. Very popular in my family. Dishes, are reasonably priced,
Overhyped and overpriced. The shop owner has a patent dialogue while taking orders "wanna try momos? ". Why would you ask that everytime? If I want I will tell you. The items are priced high for no good reason. You get the same thing, infact much better taste of the same food in West Bengal at a cheaper price. Just coz u opened a small restaurant in Bangaolore you are looting people here.
I am surprised. But my first experience was really good! Only one big -ve. That is they have very little space. But without doubt it's one of the best in Bangalore! Keep it up.
Apart from it's limited seating space and parking space crunch, every thing is good about this place. The food is authentic Bengali style. They even have Malayali cuisine. Really well maintained for a small place. Must try items here are the Mughlai Paratha, Egg Devil and Fish Cutlet.
Sweet place. It's more like a cafe and I like the roadside feel. They claim to serve authentic Calcutta street food. About the place, it is usually crowded in the evenings, especially on weekends. If you're looking to grab a quick bite, its perfect, else it is difficult to find a place to sit. I'm fond of their rolls and the biriyani is a must try; Bengalis should love it for the taste. Didn't like the cutlets though. All in all if you are in Indiranagar and like Bengali food you should definitely give it a try.
As there is no dearth of good food in and around Indiranagar, the "Ambiance" is the name of the game. I'd like to go a bit further and say that Kitchen of Joy has character, which is why it attracts more people. Because it's that tiny, it seems to be perpetually full and they have a row of seating specifically for loner, (Because of space constraints as well) which is welcoming for people who want to work/read etc. Also, the food is above average and the service no nonsense. Love that.
This is a place in Bangalore where you can taste Bengali snacks. You can test various Bengali snacks and dishes here. I like the interior design of the restaurant specially the clocks on the wall. One thing I really dislike about this place is the price of food. It is just too expensive for Bengali dishes and snacks. No way you can imagine such high price for food like mutton roll or aloo roll. Only because of this I am giving three stars.
If you have the crave for bengali food, adda and tea. This is your place. Fond of Bengali biryani (potato or alloo) in biryani they serve it with both Chicken and Mutton. I like there loochi with Mutton / Chicken / Aloo dum. Mouth watering.
Awesome bengali cuisine, luchi aloodum, rolls and rasgulla, damn good. Be prepared that there is very less space to sit properly but quick bites it's great.
Fantastic Bengali food in a tiny shop, like the ones you see in smaller lanes of Calcutta, tastefully done up. I tried their Mutton Mughlai paratha - the best i've ever eaten so far. Luchi Aloo dum was good, the green gram dal curry was also superb. You may have to wait for sometime once you order, but it is well worth the wait. I will surely go there the next time i am near Indranagar.
What will strike you the most is the casual setup. It's a mixture of nostalgia and tounge in cheek posters that differentiates itself from others. It's small, you can call it crampy but that makes it ideal for small gathering of friends. The food is decent, can be improved.
Easy laid back sort of vibes inside the cafe. Its a bengoli theme cafe serving some good teas and lunches. Tried the darjelling cha. Not a big place but sweet little cafe for sunday noons.
If you are an ardent Bengali foodie. Avoid it. You would be disappointed. The pricing of to the food is on the higher side and doesn't do justice to the quality of food served. We ordered chicken biryani, which we felt was below par given the price. The mutton kosha was again average and lacked the spice you'd crave for. The presentation was good, it infact smelled good but the taste was offbeat.
