The Market

Overly crowded. Food taste was poor. Very few veg options and both veg / non veg dishes were kept right next to each other without giving any space. The cutlery used to serve dishes were common for both veg & nonveg. Staff were busy running around from one corner to another but no personal attention was given for the guest. The hall and the table arrangements were such that, the guests were forced to sit in a congested manner due to lack of space. Food arranged were in a haphazard manner and new comers felt confused from where to start. Definitely don’t wish to recommend nor wish to visit again.

We went to The Market - The Ritz Carlton Bangalore to celebrate our wedding anniversary on 14.02.24.
The experience was poor in terms of food and service. There was no doubt a vast spread (kind of unlimited options) but the maintenance of the same was not happening. It felt like the restaurant is just minting money being Valentine’s day and they did not care about food quality. The food was totally cold. We told the same to 3 different attenders and all confirmed “Sir, I will just check and will get back to you”. No one came back. When we tried looking at them again and they knew that we are looking at them, they just changed their direction and went off.
I requested for spoons for dessert and the experience was same. I went to a counter where billing was happening. 3 different people confirmed that they will get it. None of them came back. Finally after the wait of 15 mins had to call someone again who then brought the spoons after 5 mins.
Pathetic service and cold food quality.
The only good experience we had was the smiling face of Lisi who tried to make sure we get our table. Apart from that everything was poor.
There is a saying in Hindi - “Oonchi dukan, feeka pakwaan” which means, “Great boast, little host”. It can also mean, all that glitters is not gold.
Will not recommend The Market-The Ritz Carlten to anyone, specially on their D-day.

Very good brunch, food was tasty, good combination of Indian and pan Asian food. The best thing was deserts, Lot of options and very tasty.

Everything was fresh and good quality.

We went to celebrate my wife's birthday. With all the hype that i heard about the brunch, i thought this was a good occasion to try an exquisite brunch which was a disappointment in terms of concept, offering especially brunch selection

Things to highlight
1. Service is good
2. Staff are polite and very hospitable
3. The quality of the Chicken was very good

Things to Improve
1. No one from the restaurant called to confirm the booking, i had to call thrice since I had a big group. Very disappointing to see this from a Ritz Carlton

2. Beverage selection especially cocktails were worst. Menu selection was poor and to top it up the drinks were pathetic. It does not mean that the bartender should be reprimanded, but the overall curation of the menu needs to be looked into and drinks should be tasted before service.

3. Ritz Carlton should look at the experience and the product and in this case they fail miserably.

4. No Seafood on the buffet except for cheap fish at BBQ station.

5. Very limited European selection / Brunch looked like a mix of North and South Indian

6. Salads and desserts both were not on cold counters and hence temperature is an issue and could lead to potential foodborne illness if not managed.

7. Desserts were very good in terms of presentation but the taste was very sad. All of them tasted the same and as always towards mid-way, refilling was a challenge.

8. The place is so cramped up that you can't walk

9. They promised a cake for my wife bday but did not serve the cake and whilst I do not want anything complimentary, if you promised on two occasions, the message was not delivered to the team on the ground.

10. Kids play area needs to be looked into in terms of overall experience. Throwing simple drawing sheets does not make it as per Ritz Carlton standard.

Overall, there is a lot of areas to improve. If you want to charge USD 50 per person for your alcoholic brunch, it needs to be re-visited in terms of the product offering and experience.

I am not writing to criticize or in anyways say that this place is not good, but for brunch of this price, it is surely not worth the money spent.
May be Senior management needs to look into the overall experience and see how they can elevate the same as this surely fell short of a Ritz Carlton experience.

Most expensive buffet also is the best buffet in bangalore. They have around 64 items to try (including salads) and mojority of the items are available exquisite.

Few items have bland taste but that's on purpose because of the type of patrons visit the place.

Sunday brunch is the best bet! However, few items were not quite up to the mark. The choice of items available in the brunch buffet was huge.

So i will be really honest about the review. I loved the hospitality, i loved the staff behaviour, ambience 10 on 10 but the food was a bit disappointing, items being bland. Like butter chicken is supposed to be rich in flavour but it wasn't like that. Over all the continental dishes were good but Indian wasn't as expected.

Had a buffet at so many places, but at 3000/- per person it wasn't worth that much. Maybe it's my personal review as i like my food full of flavours and i have been impressed with the quality at many other great places.

Over all 4 stars, 10/10 for everything but for the food a straight 7.

I would love to go there again to explore its breakfast and lunch menu.

My first ever RITZ experience and it will not be my last. The Market's Lunch Buffet is great.but the staff make it greater. A special note here of gratitude to RITZ'S. SUVELU TUNYI & STEPHEN for looking after me so well with their welcome of warmth.their professionalism and politeness and above all their EMPATHY. They are RITZ'S TRUE ASSETS. The cured meats my fav.salami, pepperoni, ham and chorizo meet global quality standards. The DESSERTS created are on another level. Their APPLE TART is the STAR for me in all her splendour and glory. A slice of HEAVEN it is with a fragrant aroma of almond essence and a filling that had an intense almond soul and substance.buttery nutty.took my breath away. In all my years of life. AM 53. Dining in the UK USA and FAR EAST. I have never tasted such a MASTERPIECE. She is the MONA LISA of all apple almond tarts.none like her. The pistachio burphy too is packed with a powerful pistachio presence instead of just being green.it is the real deal. The MasterChefS have worked wonders with the Desserts. The Panna cotta and Caramel Custard ACTUALLY TASTE like Panna cotta and Caramel Custard and not pretend fakes. This RITZ buffet at approx Rs 2600 actually includes juices in sealed bottles on ice and filter coffee on request. RITZ'S melt in your mouth TANDOORI TIKKA FISH was mind blowing.another MASTERPIECE. Pretty bad experience. Booked for 10 (my team) but on reaching they said they can’t honor the booking since a corporate has booked the entire “market”. Then they sent me down to The Lantern, where I was promised a set menu - which only had about 10 items total. Took 2 hours to get 4 items on our table and then had to pay as much as the buffet in Market. Was an embarrassment!

After happily trying at the Lapis (Oberoi), Jamawar (Leela Palace), Ssafron and B cafe (Shangri-La), Cubbon pavilion (ITC Gardenia) and now it was time for The Market @ Ritz Carlton as it was my Anniversary and we took our family friend from Newzeland thinking that we are treating her at the best place.

Staffs were very polite and helpful, Ambiance was good but it all stops there.

Food was a big let down and we did not enjoy a single dish! Indian gravy served were all great disaster. Their desserts are Not acceptable at all in any standard of buffets. Even the regulars like chutney chang and Barbeque Nation serves better food/desserts.

Ice creams only on demand as there was no counter. No good Live counters, no one was there in kattii role counter and katti role served was pathetic, Sacher cake was a joke (I had been to Vienna Sacher couple of times). Lots of macrons kept in jars for display and no macrons in the dessert menu!
Pls pls send your staffs to other star hotels and get inspired from them. I am sorry to say this but I easily could have had a good time in 'any' other restaurants.

Sorry, If I am sounding rude but couple of simple tasty dishes would have convinced me for a positive vote but unfortunately nothing was good but the drinking water!

We were here on a hungry Sunday morning, they served us keema burger, english breakfast, tomato soup, chicken cream soup. Thankful for such yummy breakfast

Wow delicious food.i love the taste.and temrind ginger, margarita is mouthwatering, I had European cusine. It's amazing.hospitality is good.guys are very friendly.love it. ️

Food is average.
Desserts were not upto the mark.
More of a fish market than a nice place to relax and dine.
They have baby chair but no baby cutlery.

The chicken tikka was good.
Coffee was served in the traditional brass cup and tumbler. Coffee was not great.

Ritz Carlton was always on my checklist and the buffet was up to my expectation…I loved the food and ambience…as it was our anniversary they gave a private table beautifully decorated and a yummy cake. Thank you Ritz <3

Except the desserts, the entire spread seemed not to complement each other within one style of cuisine. The meats (Indian and International alike), pasta, were all not cooked properly to make it soft and palatable. Was disappointed with the Sunday Brunch especially when I compare with their competitors viz ITC and Leela. Service too was not very engaging and felt the lack of promptness and not being top of the game.
Now I know why there is a beeline for the Buffet at their competitors. The only saving grace were a surprisingly decent spread of desserts and the light numbers being sung by the gentleman. Everywhere else on their 3rd level where the restaurant and lobby are, there was absolutely no peace and calm with either recorded piano being played or being played live. There is a reason it's called background music which should complement the mood and not over power it. All in all probably will not make a visit again.

The best club sandwich in town. Believe me, it's the first thing I try in most restaurants.

Service level is not acceptable. I cannot believe here is expensive 5stars hotel restaurant.

The Resturant variety is good. Even in breakfast buffet, many 'fancy' items cam also be ordered (that are typically not there in other hotels).

The service becomes slow at peak hours. Was even served cold tea (capital punishment). Although replaced again with hot tea when reminded again!

The experience was very average. I had booked a table the previous day and the same was confirmed but when I reached the restaurant there was no reservation done. The things that were promised were not provided. I had ordered a cake which was not delivered, even after taking the message from me personally. Didn't expect this.

Good for Sunday brunch. Limited veg options though. Would have preferred some more variety when you're paying so much and hardly have 2 choices for each course.

A close friend treated me to breakfast the other day at the Ritz. Due to covid, they were serving the food on the table, instead of buffet, which while takes away from the visual of choosing your food, is a good idea in hygiene. Infact it is probably a great idea for all buffets to move to this format, to also reduce wastage and over eating (ha ha) but ya, it would be a burden on the wait staff!

I asked for a fruit platter and an egg white omlette and the steward also brought along a cool looking glass thali with some south indian tiffin items for us to try. The service and the presentation was good and the everything tasted awesome as well. We concluded the leisurely meal with a really good filter coffee!

The decor was classy and understated and service as is typically at this tier of hotels was faultless!

Amazing food and ambience. The desert selection is just outstanding, you possible can’t eat all of them. The selection of food is very good and it will satisfy all your desires. Totally recommend.

Beautiful welcome, nice dinner, crispy corn was yum, which was prepared on our request, cake was very awesome.

I went for Christmas Brunch.decor was amazing, staff very courteous but I wasn't very impressed with the food. All desserts are mainly cream based, veg Options very limted

One of the best luxury hotels of Bangalore. I just love the food and the desert section out there.

It's a awesome luxury dining restaurant and the ambience is wo but the dinner buffet option is little limited but whatever option is available is very yummies and there service is also very good. The staffs are well manared and you will not face any type of service issue here

Went on occasion of karwa chauth. As usual buffet options for non-veg are more than veg options. Save some space for dessert which is in plenty. Food is decent tasting and zomato discounts are applicable. Service is good along with nice ambience. Average cost is 2500 INR per person.

The spread of buffet was amazing. There were multiple salad, starters, soups, main course, desserts over Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Italian cuisines. The staff is very friendly, ask for some suggestions and combine this scrumptious buffet along with some wine.

Worst food and no variety at all. It's just the infrastructure they have invested on. Don't waste your money here.

Limited buffet. Ambience is ok. Spread is not great. Taste is bland. The spread is not aligned in a way which is easy to access. The salad section is hid behind the main spread. Soup was bad. No speciality dishes, nothing new for the taste buds. The routine menu made the spread boring for us.
Toilets are very unclean, not expected! Definitely not going to visit again.

I'm reviewing The Market after my second outing there in 5 months.

I fell in love with this place the first time. It is just so beautiful and colourful. So, on my second visit, I could assess the place better.

Positives:
1) Many photo opportunities in the hotel
2) Outstanding chaat counter
3) Huge spread of desserts that you can't finish

Negatives:
1) Poor customer service by 5 star standards. When my family of 4 people entered, there were just 2 other individual guests, who happened to be foreigners. There were easily over 10 service staff, none of whom attended to us even to offer a table, whereas they repeatedly went to speak to the foreigners. Thoroughly disappointing.
2) Below average flavourless main course (veg)
3) Barely any starters
4) An attendant told us the live counter menu was closed, and this was a Saturday. Instead, he guided us to the chargeable a-la-carte menu. For a buffet costing ₹2,000 per person, that's outrageous.

I still love Ritz Carlton. But I don't know if I'll return to The Market a second time.

Visited this place for lunch. The ambiance is really good and they have a huge wine cellar and that looks amazing. The place is beautiful. I had the lunch buffet because I have heard a lot of review about it and also since they have one plus one on dine out app. Now talking about food, it was not a regular mainstream buffet where there is 10 starters and then maincourse and desserts. They just have 1 2 starters in veg and non veg they have a spread of main course (I could count them in my fingers). Then there was chats live pasta and pizza. Their salad counter was just goood and yumm! Finally desserts! Coming to the taste

b) papdi chat and pani poori was way too yumm and I must have had 4 plates of it.c) the spread of mains and starters is not a lot but whatever they had on the menu was tasty.d) desserts was to die for, their chocolate cake was toooo good.

The Market is a buffet style restaurant located in The Ritz Carlton, Bangalore. The ambience of the place is good and there is a huge wine cellar which looks amazing. We visited it for dinner. Recommend you to reserve your table as it tends to get crowded.

The variety of food ranging from Indian, Continental to even Chinese/Japanese is excellent. There was even a Sushi counter (veg and non-veg) which was really appetizing. Different types of pastas and pizzas could be placed to order. There was a huge salad counter which spoilt me for choices. There was even a make-your-soup counter where there was a broth and you could add your own veg/non-veg ingredients.

The main course selection was mediocre. The desert section was decent but one thing that stood out was the live counter for waffles. The waffles were absolutely amazing. Would also like to commend the staff for taking care of us well. All in all, its a good restaurant but a little on the pricier side.

This is one of those places that I would definitely love to return to!

Tossed vegetables (Salad bar)

Grilled zucchini
Chilli chicken
Meen gravy

And the wonderful dessert bar.

I will be back just for the nachos and cheese sauce and the cream cheese sushi! Those were wonderful!

The only thing I would provide as constructive criticism is that the soup counter be improved. I love the idea for the make-your-own soup idea, that was great, but the non-veg phone base could have packed more flavour, that is the only piece of tiny and humble critique I'd like to provide.

Even with the slightly lackluster soup base, the counter had a wonderful spread of options to add to the soup. I would love to see the same type of spread when I'm back, with just a more powerfully packed flavour punch in the soup base.

Otherwise I just loved the place. Great buffet!

Great Service. Our patron for the evening were Sandeep and Paul and everything was handled beautifully.

Waiters and chefs are here to check everything and fill out what you need. I recommend you to have something more delicious. Seasonal mango and juice were really delicious. It was impressive that the Indian filter coffee which had never been tasted was poured into a brass cup and poured until it was frothy. A staff member with a pierrot made something for the kids with balloons and helped people to enjoy the morning with joy.

I have had opportunity to dine here. Options are less in buffet however all of them tastes best. Service provided by Rishi and Diksha was commendable.

The market is a buffet style restaurant located in the Ritz Carlton, Bangalore.
As part of my room package, buffet breakfast was included.
This restaurant has a wide variety of options/cuisines ranging from North and South Indian, Asian and Western. Large drink options such smoothies, juices, coffee and Yakult. Pastries, gluten free breads, sourdough, yogurt, Bircher muesli and varieties of jams/marinades were also up for grabs.
You can order omelettes, pancakes, waffles, any style egg, and Indian breakfasts once you are seated.
Waiters/waitresses were friendly and welcoming. Sanjit explained the Indian breakfast options and I went for the Dosa, which I do recommend to try. Further he offered the Indian Style coffee and showed me how they add the sugar to the coffee. This was such a wonderful and pleasant experience and I would recommend trying this coffee.
