The Shades Holiday Inn

I liked the place considering the price. The caretaker was very prompt with the service. Spacious rooms. Loved the Tea they made, must try.

While choosing the place, I was bit reluctant. Because, I have never stayed at such a place like home stay. At the end of 3 days of stay, my experience at The Shades Holiday Inn changed my thoughts. These cottages are surrounded by lush green trees. Guys like me from city would love the place and ambience. Because it is away from city and pretty good.

Hence, I had a pleasant stay and it made my trip so memorable. Herein after, I will prefer homestay too.

Overall, a modest homestay experience.

The complementary homemade breakfast was good on the stomach and tasty as well.

The local coffee was so good that you would buy some powder to home.

Their beautiful garden soothes the mood everytime.

Mr. Ganesh was a superfine caretaker and a knowledgeable travel guide. His genuineness was appreciable.

Shadow, their German shepherd, was a welcoming sweet pet.

There's no wifi though.

The room and bathroom was big and clean. Food was good. Caretaker Ganesha is very helpful, energetic and full of life. Property is surrounded by lots of trees and the atmosphere is pleasant. Driver Rafiq suggested for sight seeing was also excellent. Very homely atmosphere. Overall had good time. Charges are also reasonable. One suggestion and not complaint is that if breakfast can be made available by 8.30 it can be helpful in starting sight seeing in time.

Home away from Home. Excellent service and home cooked meal. If you are looking for 4 or 6 people staying in one room then this is the place. The rooms though can be maintained better but you will never feel that at all. A beautiful and very friendly place to be in. The hero of the place is Mr. Ganesh. Such a lovely person who takes care of us so well

We had an amazing experience in this homestay for about 2 days and I'd definitely rate 5/5. Because everything starts from cleanliness, hygiene, breakfast, campfire was topIt's a place worth booking without second thought.

This place in Kushalnagar is one of the less crowded places. It only had 3,4 beded rooms. Which makes it perfect if you want to chill with friends or enjoy quality time with family. They have a very friendly dog on the property. The owner also stays there. Home cooked food is amazing. You definitely should try some local dishes prepared by them. Breakfast was simple and delicious. Service by Ganesh was amazing

The stay was amazing, Room size was awesome. Space outside the rooms was too good with forest view. Breakfast and dinner was deliciously prepared. Ganesh is a gem and really takes care of all our needs. All spots can be covered easily from this location.

We were a gang of 8 members travelled all over from Chennai to coorg as soon as we logged from our work. We had a tiring journey to coorg and the room which we booked initially brought nightmares for us. Then one of our friend immediately booked this place shades holiday inn and we had to vacate the place booked earlier. We wasted almost a day in room swapping n searching. But everything ended when we entered shades. We were served with an outstanding coffee and our group got addicted to their coffee.
Rooms were neat n clean.
The place is near to all major points that u can visit in coorg. Just 10 to 15 kms away.
Most importantly this man Ganesh a self made hospitality star. Never in our life we had such an outstanding hospitality. He was ready to help u serve u guide u what not in everything at any time. First day we had food outside which was avg.from day 2 morning we had all our food prepared from this place. Neer dosa/Puris and an super dinner prepared from them were served by ganesh. We literally had unlimited food as it was so good and they never hesitated in serving us the food. They were literally serving as much as we were asking.
The dog shadow makes u a pet lover.
The surrounding nature makes u wake early n admire it.
Especially the camp fire and the surrounding area are purely memories for life.
We had good amount of liquor for two full days and Ganesh was always readily available to serve us a best food and clean the place immediately. We realised how passionate he is on his job.
Lastly this place made our stay at coorg the best and we guys had the best trip of our life. Much of the credit goes to shades n Ganesh.
While billing Ganesh skipped to add coffee amount bill. We would have had almost 50 cups of coffee during our stay. We asked him to add he was hesitant and Ganesh said we want to ensure u guys must have the best trip take that as complimentary from us. We know the coffee served us would have been costly if we had it anywhere outside. But still Ganesh did not add the amount. There may be many places to stay in coorg but only few remains special and stay in ur memories and this place tops the list.

Had a very pleasant stay during our vacation. A shout out to Ganesh, the care taker in particular. He is a very likeable person, always eager to help and make the guests comfortable.

Excellent location, Very friendly & sweet caretaker, cute dog who plays with u every instant. Made our trip absolute dream, with their service n nature. We asked like 50+ Coffee and they didn say a word No for anything. Price is dead Cheap with breakfast. We paid extra 2000 rs for treating us so good, which Ganesh refused to take, but we insisted and gave him. Overall best stay in Kushal Nagar!

Rooms, ambiance, atmosphere, homely food And speacially the staff Ganesh was really excellent who look after us very well. This place is quiet, full of greenery, and if ur fan of guavas u pluck from tree and eat. Great value for money. Amazing experience looking forward to visit again

After a long journey from hyd to banglore and from banglore to coorg we were very confused at choosing the right hotel then after searching we got this at kushalnagar at around 11pm we called them and we got the right room for 5 of us, Ganesh the person incharge of this took proper care for us he is the hero of this place, from arranging breakfast to food and whatever we ask he never said no and arranged all, we spent very good time all thanks to Ganesh!

We enjoyed our stay, the room is spacious. The caretaker Ganesh is very helpful and available for any clarification / queries.
The breakfast provided was very good.

If you are searching anything closer to nisargadhama, dubare or kushalnagar you could consider this place. The owners were accomodating, caretaker ganesh is good at this work. Reach out to him, he will be of great help. The rooms were clean and mainly made to accomodate families of 4 to 6 people. Food served was authentic and it was tasty. Could definitely work on increasing the speed of the food service. Otherwise all good

Loved the place. Pricing was pretty decent with complimentary breakfast and a cup of coffee. Room was pretty nice, clean n neatly maintained. And there was also place sit n enjoy the outside forest view in veranda while doing ur things. The forest covered views, the rain n the nice cold weather everything was just perfect. It was a great stay ️.

I never seen a hotel/homestay allowing the guest to check in without paying the price amount. But here they didn't ask until we checked out. Ganesh was the best caretaker I ever witnessed.

Mainly booked the place for its location, as it was close to the tourist attractions in and around kushal nagar. You can easily reach Nisargadhama, Tibetan temple chikalhole dam and dubare elephant camp from here. The cab driver Rafiq provided by the property for sight seeing was so kind and made our trip more enjoyable. It was a pleasant stay and it was made more pleasant by the very helpful Mr Ganesh. Breakfast was ok. Dinner we had to order outside because there was not much to choose from, in the property. Cottage we stayed was spacious and comfortable.

We recently visited The Shades Holiday Inn homestay at Kushal Nagar, Coorg with family for a 2-night stay during the weekdays. The time spent here was exceptionally great. At the first look of the property you get a homely feeling which is close to the nature. The stay was very peaceful with delicious food prepared by Mrs. Bindhu (Owner's wife) and awesome hospitality by Mr. Ganesh (Care-taker) and Mr. Sandeep (Owner). There is a lot of place to sit around and for kids to play in a natural environment. People here are extremely humble and nice who will make you feel home away from home.
Many thanks to all of them to make it worth travelling out of our hectic schedule to spend time with nature.

If star available more than 5 I definitely give but only 5 what to do?
The woner Mr Sundeep and his family too friendly to all tourist. Especially care taker Ganesh the great. Hat's off. The food, home made superb.
One more thing I have to share, this place is center place for Nisagdarma, Dubare elephant camp and Chiklihloe dam. So staying here is time is saved you very relaxly see all place.

One of the best and peaceful homestay you could ever find in kushalnagar. The place is covered with trees and rooms are clean and well maintained. They have a dog called shadow which is very friendly and you will get attached to it within no time. Special mention to Mr. Ganesh made our stay enjoyable and gives information about the places to visit nearby and the coffee you get here will blow your mind.

First of all I would like to say that ganesh anna has the best hospitable behavior ever. He was so helpful and so kind that I wish we could have never left this place. Second our cute shadow (pet dog), I am generally scared of dogs but this little buddy was so well trained and so friendly that now when I am home I miss him so much. Now about the inn, it was the most beautiful holiday inn one could wish for, fully coved with coconut trees and absolutely neat and clean. The morning breakfast were mind blowing and the dinner was so yumm. I would request people to visit this place atleast once and after that one visit you would definitely want to visit it again and again ️

Supremely amazing, clean, beautiful, scenic, property at the best rates. Outstanding service. Sandeep and Bindu along with Ganesh are one of the most excellent host I’ve ever come across. They prepare scrumptious food with their own hands. Forget a 5 star resort in Coorg and BOOK HERE NOW! Also, host will turn into family! Very helpful people and most of tourists places nearby and utmostly accessible.

Worth to write this review about our stay. It helps many of the unplanned trip planners like me.
1. Stay - Pleasant rooms, very spacious, neat and comfortable for family/group/couples
2. Breakfast - We were there for 2 days and served with Poori Baaji and Neerdosa with tomato chutney. Both were sooperb. My Kid liked them much as they are not much spicy. They served coffee for us and Horlicks for my Kid before breakfast.
3. Facilities - Ample space for parking, Space for play if you have some time to play volley ball or Badminton (we need to carry those).
Geysers fixed, Pedestal fans are available in every room. Additional rooms are available if you want to keep your stuff and get fresh up if we checkout and stay till your travel plan arrived.
4. Hospitality - Special mention about the owner Sandeep, he is very jovial and supplied whatever we requested for. There is an energetic care taker Ganesh, arranges all your needs includes breakfast, campfire and food from outside if required.
5. Location - Near to Visargadhama and on State Highway, ease to reach from Kushal nagar and Medikeri at anytime.

Suggestion - Connect with Owner, instead of booking online. Price is better than online always.

We were a group of 12 people and we were there for 2 days and 2 nights. The food was simply amazing. The owner Mr. Sandeep is a very nice guy and their hospitality was simply out of the world. This review can't be completed without mentioning Mr Ganesh, who is the care taker of the property. Honestly during our stay I've never heard Ganesh anna say no to anything. If you are a group of people looking for something calm and serene then definitely go for it. It's value for money.

Spacious clean room and bathroom. Excellent play area for kids. Food was really amazing. Calm and peaceful area for relaxing with friends and family.

I dn tell itz not bad. Place is amazing and hospitality and services are good.but it's not worth the money (2.5k per room). They dn have powerbackup and some of the reviews tells they provide 3 times food but they provide breakfast only.they should have wifi.leaving that everything was good.special mention to ganesh bhai and the shadow (germy)

By far one of the best places to be in Coorg. No, it's not a 5 * but the hospitality here is unlike anywhere else. We stayed here last year for a good 6 nights. And this year as we were driving from Ooty to Mangalore took a stop at this same place to spend the night. Didn't even bother checking any other place cause we had already experienced the best.
Clean, spacious and hygienic bathrooms. (something I def look for anywhere I go)

Ganesh is definitely one of the finest hosts ever. He is an asset. And how can we not mention Shadow. The yummy food and the coffee.

Nice homestay with homely breakfast. While talking about Shades, two persons worth mentioning. Mr Ganesh (the care taker) who know what is needed for the guest and act accordingly. Another person is "shadow" a German shepherd dog who is very playful with all. Kids love him.

Overall a nice stay and we enjoyed it.

Please visit harangi backwaters which is 15 mins drive.

Had my breakfast here while traveling to Madikeri. Surprisingly It proved to be best food in my entire trip.

Checked in late night without prior intimation but the reception from the hosts was just awesome. We were immediately made at home. Rooms were spacious and super clean. The entire property gives a peaceful vibe.ample hot water and comfortable beds. Morning breakfast and coffee was a perfect start for us to hit the road again.this was our second time visiting them.for sure will visit again. Thank you Sandeep bhai and entire family and also the star Mr Ganesh for your generous hospitality.
