Built around 1584 by Hyder Khan, is an 80-foot-high (24 m) tower standing to the north of Dakhani Idgah in Vijayapura. This is a spherical structure with stone steps winding round the outside. Top of the tower offers a commanding view of the city. This is also known as “Hyder Burj”, “Upli Burj”.
Upali Burj it's original name Hyder Burj is an watch tower located close to Malik E Maidan of Bijapur it served as a watch tower during the reign of Ali Adilshah 1 one can find two huge cannons atop the tower. The most noticeable thing is that how these cannons have survived 5 centuries without any major damage. This tower was built by Hyder khan The commander of Ali Adilshah 1 s army in mid 1500s this tower is approximately 100 feet and served as a watch tower and defence for third layer of Bijapur city in Adilshahi period. The cannons on top of this tower are cast using 5 different metals are known as panchloha dhatu tof in local language.
The tower was built in 1583 by Adilshah's Dandanayak Haider Khan. Its height is 95 feet. Two cannons of 30 feet 8 inches and 98 feet length have been prepared for protection on the bastion.
