Real experience of “Luxury meets Nature”

Had a wonderful stay at villa Urvinkhan. Very thoughtful and artistic villa with amazing views and it’s literally inside dense forest. From the main road one has to drive for 10 mins within estate completely surrounded by dense trees to reach villa which talks about the amazing surroundings this property can have. The place is very relaxing and one like me can spend days in gazing stars, trees, mountains. I highly recommend this property to everyone.
Also, the food is just top notch, it’s very tasty and high in quality as well, desserts are to be mentioned, most of them are home made and gives amazing senses to tasting buds.
Overall we were super happy that we happened to find this and were able to stay here. Thank you so much for hosting us. Very friendly staff and hospitality is great.

Cycling as an activity would be great I feel.

This luxurious property's distinctive architecture effortlessly merges with the surrounding lush vegetation and foggy mountain landscape, fostering a sense of peace and calm.

Located a five-hour drive from Bengaluru and three hours from Mangaluru International Airport (IXE), each of the guest villas and suites offers stunning views of the surrounding valley, hills, and mountain ranges, giving guests a complete sense of Chikmagalur's natural splendour.

I had a certian expectation from their website and I was MINDBLOWN, I mean this definitely superseded my experience and expectations by leaps and bounds, from the welcome drink to the see off, I mean this place is immaculate, it's beautiful beyond what I could ever explain! The food was to absolutely to die for and that too, in the middle of the bustling homestay, after I interacted with the owners Mr. Siddanth Gowda and family I'd come to realise that he's a Michelin Trained Chef, and his wife Stephany took care of us like we were family. The booking was done telephonically through Miss. Sanjana and she was such a delight, she was so accommodating with certian dietary and mobility requirements, I mean it's uncanny how good she is, I've come to realise that this property is a hidden gem, I mean it's got 2 lakes in the estate for fishing which Mr. Sunil had taken us to and the most beautiful and gorgeous part of the whole resort is the view that the infinity pool boasts of the valley, I mean it's definitely breathtaking. Also I remember Mrs. Shweta gave us so much knowledge on how the local coffee is grown and how to make the best cup of South Indian filter coffee, also the bathrooms in the rooms OMG they're to die for, open air and absolute one with nature, the only disappointing this is I couldn't stay long enough, but I'm definitely without a doubt going back 100%, it's worth every single rupee.
I had made a request to Sanjana that I wanted a room with the best view and I was definitely give that, overlooking the infinity pool and the valley at once, it was incredible, I mean one of the best places I've stayed in ever, the owner and family are so welcoming warm and inviting, definitely worth a visit so much so it will leave you wanting to go back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Urvinkhan. The location of the property is spectacular and approach road is well maintained too. The property itself is so calm, serene and beautiful and the view from the infinity pool is one to die for! The food is simple but extremely tasty and satisfying and the staff is very courteous and welcoming. Spent some relaxing moments at the villa and would like to come back surely in the near future.

It was by chance that we came upon this resort. But we reached immediately the interior decor caught our attention. It is so well maintained and everything so meticulously organised that you feel the warmth and the care it took to build this. The whole landscape will make you enjoy the stay for every minute. In addition the care and the personal touch provided by all would help you build a bond. You will feel a homely vibe with the way the tasty food is placed in your table and though the food options might be limited, trusts me, you will enjoy all of it. One of the best place I visited, and shout out to Sunil, for being such a humble person, Arun for all the caretaking and Sanjana for arranging the stay in such a short time. We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Urvinkhan!

This beautiful piece of heaven, secretly tucked away in the hills of Chickmagalur is all anyone would need for a quiet, restful vacation.

Alongside the beautiful architecture, infinity pool and greenery, we couldn't get enough of their home cooked food and the Malnad pork and their fish fry was to die for!

Siddanth was an amazing host, and made sure we were comfortable and looked after for the duration of our stay.

We really couldn't have asked for a more peaceful holiday. Would definitely recommend the stay at Urvinkhan, it's worth every cent

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at urvinkhan. The staff were extremely proactive and helpful. Arun was very hospitable and a good host. As I was suffering from a wheeze, recovering from a viral. He gave me a concoction ‘kashayam’ which was excellent and soothing and gave me immediate relief and thereafter the whole family was having it.
The property is excellent, the infinity pool was the highlight for the kids. The owners, Sunil and Shweta Were extremely hospitable too. Thank you for a memorable experience

We stayed with our cousins for 3 days on this property. Very beautiful and very well maintained property. Arun the guest manager in the property ensured we had an amazing experience of their hospitality. The food was consistently good for all 3 days. Villa urvinkhan is a fabulous place to stay. In the middle of a 400 acre coffee plantation, the place is luxurious; the place is also very well decorated by some amazing artefacts. The hosts/owners - Mr. Sunil Gowda and family are very gracious.

One the best stay I have experienced in a very long time. Beautiful back drop for the pool which is the highlight of this place. And also beautiful and carefully done interiors.
Excellent food (how u serve ur dessert shows how much u care about food) and the staff are attentive helpful and always going out of their way to ensure your experience is wonderful. Staff's here are so careful about ur needs and best part was they are always on time.loved them. 10 star for best home stay.and making my time so worthwhile.

Villa Urvinkhan is an absolutely gorgeous and fascinating place! We were blown away by the attention to the minutest details. Every cottage has it's own unique and distinct characteristics. We loved the food, simply because it was just like what we normally eat at home! The hosts are a wonderful family and it was lovely to chat with them. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable. And the other guests were a marvelous bunch- as they say, " there are no strangers, only friends who you've never met before. The place was just amazing, the rooms and service were great! Taking away 2 stars because the food service was just pathetic! The quality of food was just about okay. The quantity was terrible! They ran out of rotis within 15 minutes of dinner starting and refused to make more, there was insufficient Biryani on another day and the desserts were served in rationed proportions. Who gives half a scoop of vanilla ice-cream for each guest? On another meal, the fruit custard was just 2-3 bowls for 7 of us! There was no tea available for breakfast till 20 minutes after breakfast was over! The raita with biryani had to be scraped for each guest and then they just gave us watery curd in yet another meal!

We recently visited Villa Urvinkhan for a weekend getaway from Bangalore with friends and it was the most delightful experience we've had in a while! The place is done very tastefully and the view from there is just breathtaking! Although it was cold we couldn't resist the temptation of jumping into their infinity pool to soak in the view. The hosts and staff very very helpful and hospitable and ensured we had a very comfortable stay. Food was great too! The only thing we really missed and wished they had was some nice traditional filter coffee rather than the machine one which would have made it a true Chikmanglur experience.

We will be sure to visit again!

My visit to this place 2 months back, Villa Urvinkhan, it’s a coffee estate and resort with a blend of luxury and nature, amidst the the middle of Urvinkhan estate that is Dense Forest with coffee and pepper plantations all around which was established in the 1980's. It’s a is home to a variety of flora and fauna with a breathtaking view all around you.

The hospitality, ambience, food and over all serene clean and green surroundings made it perfect.

One of the most beautiful resorts to relax, unwind and indulge in total hedonism. The antique furniture, a modern bathroom with an option for an outdoor shower amidst the clear air adds to the beautiful back-to-nature ambience. The verdant coffee estate, the picuresque lake that you can go and fish in, and of course the fabulous food will ensure you will want to extend your stay as many of us have done. You have to be lucky, as most of the time, the place is fully booked. There is a beautiful infinity pool to swim in- currently, owing to Covid restrictions, just to be admired in all its glory. Your hosts - Sunil and Swetha Gowda's - attention to detail ensures that you are in the lap of luxury. All three meals, featuring local cuisine with fresh vegetables and meats sourced from the locals, gives you a lot of insight into the traditional cuisine of the South - particualrly that of the Gowdas & the Kodavas and other South Indian delicacies. Even vegetarians, like my friend Uma, enjoyed a robust cuisine. Don't miss a trip to the beautiful Shiva Temple at Niduvane nearby, built by Sunil- it's a real labour of love.

What a gem! The first thing that struck Ajay and me while driving up the hills is Villa Urvinkhan is an overwhelmingly beautiful privately owned and curated estate. Spread over 500 acres of a lush natural habitat, with every imaginable variety of flora and fauna. The entire property was spotlessly clean when we arrived and continued to be, through our stay. The staff were well trained, warm with their smiles and quick to take care of any needs enhancing the comfort of our stay. The private villas are truly luxurious in space and furnishing, especially the hot tubs that were such a delight to use for us pool-starved water babies. The food is pure, homestyle Malnadu cuisine. We savoured the varied vegetarian curries, meat preparations and the fish served by expert local chefs who were so kind to answer our curious questions about recipes etc. The masterfully made akki rottis, served hot off the griddle were most memorable! The hosts, Mr.and Mrs. Gowda live on the property and are so wonderful and engaging to meet and chat with, always checking in on guests' comfort. It was very nice to meet you both. As for the stunning infinity pool, we can't wait to be back to enjoy it as soon as the pandemic restrictions are eased:) Thanks for a fabulous holiday. Definitely recommended.

Villa Urvinkhan is the perfect getaway if you're looking for a serene, luxurious experience. The property is located in a sprawling coffee estate in, slap bang in the middle of nature.

The rooms and common areas are extremely tasteful and the hosts attention to detail is everywhere to see.

The food is a true run through of delicious malnad cuisine. Staff is always attentive and very keen on catering to your needs.

I've stayed here quite a few times and I never think twice to go back.

Exhilarating Trip to Karnataka

“Villa Urvinkhan” is a fantastic Property 40 to 50 kms away from Chikmagalur. I would highly recommend it not just to travelers on a road trip like we were, but also as a destination by itself.

Our party of 4, had meticulously planned a Road Trip from 22nd November 2020 to 8th December 2020 encompassing 16 days. Each destination we thought, was well planned, either for its natural  beauty and / or for its monuments.

I then remembered my friend Bob Rupani, now a veteran Auto journalist and Travel Author/Writer of Driving holidays in India of some acclaim. Bob, for his entire formative life has been a prolific writer of various destinations and has an enormous repertoire of knowledge of most of India and especially Karnataka. It was Bob who tweaked our plans and made it vastly more fulfilling. He also put me in touch with Vikram Narendra, who is a Planter in the Chikmagalur area and Vikram too was enormously helpful and informed me that the Chikmagalur Club was not receiving guests on account of the Pandamic and instead suggested we spend two days at the “Villa Urvinkhan” which belonged to and was run by his cousin Sunil Gowda. This is how we landed up at the “Villa Urvinkhan” – almost purely by chance.

“Villa Urvinkhan” (literally translated means Vast Forest), is a 500 acres Coffee Plantation with the most fantastic Boutique Hotel on its premises, much like a Home Stay, but only better. It had 12 beautifully appointed rooms with period furniture, its location offering magnificent views, which extended for miles; an infinity Pool (which we couldn’t unfortunately use owing to the Covid situation), a deck around the Pool and a beautiful Veranda. A lot of the furniture was unique and placed strategically and tastefully.

Sunil Gowda himself was hospitality personified and was quite liberal with his time and his own knowledge, not only just of the business of “Coffee”, but a wealth of information of the entire Region.

Our next stop was at the Taj Hotel at Madikeri via Bellur and I daresay that our entire party recalls the stay at the “Villa Urvinkhan” as the highlight of our Trip not just because the property itself was beautiful and well appointed, but also because of the activities that Sunil so very kindly organized, which included a trek through the Plantation and also some fishing in the small lake on the property.

I would advise any and all travelers wishing to visit the Region, a stopover and a stay at the “Villa Urvinkhan”.

Stayed for 3 nights. Even though the location was beautiful, unhappy with the room provided and the service. Coffee/ tea was not available most of the time. The food was simple and not much variety. Hot water in the bathrooms took a while. Prices were really steep. Hosts were rigid, though the rooms were not ready by the check-in time and we were made to wait. Overall could have been a better experience.

Lovely property. Cut off from the city and town. Not really in chikmanglur town. Rather on the outskirts. Food & Pool is the highlight. I would go back for the food alone!

Villa urvinkhan has been the best get away in Karanataka so far. Villa Urvinkhan is situated at high terrains admist a lush green Coffee estate.

We were a group of 11 and occupied their new villas. Villas were an added advantage with private sit out place, private bar counters and the Bon fire area.

The common area leading to the infinity pool overlooking the hill tops, mostly covered with clouds is the highlight of the place.

Their rustic decors compliement the serene environment.

We went fishing while we were there and it was thoroughly a wonderful experience.

Their food is very were variety, tasteful and homly. Their chef was exceptionally good. Their desserts are to die for.

Their crew and staff are polite and courteous.

A must visit place. Not to forget, they also followed all the safety measures in complaince covid 19 guidelines.

It is undoubtedly the best place to visit for a much needed break during this Pandemic.

My husband and I stayed at this gorgeous property in March 2020. The rooms and layout has been built so aesthetically. Hosts are lovely people, as is the food! Can't wait to go back!

We visited this place in March just before the lockdown started and I'm really glad we did given that we don't know when we can travel again. I think you'd find it hard pressed to spot a single thing that isn't beautiful about the place.everything from the decor in the common dining area to the architecture in each of the rooms.the views are spectacular and is something you can never tire of. Every vantage point in the resort has a view that will leave you in awe.from the infinity pool to the outdoor shower areas. The food was excellent.service and hospitality was great and the hosts were warm, friendly, and very accommodating. Whether it was a stroll around the estate, a swim, or even just cozying up by the fire reading a book, this place has everything you need to escape the city life and just unwind

I am writing a review on this place almost two years after staying there. I must say the experience was bitter-sweet. That is one reason I remember it after all these years.

The infrastructure and location is awesome. Beautiful property and well conversing hosts. But that's about it.

The food tasted good- but the portions were really small. The buffet was not refilled often-particularly the vegetarian section. During the lunch, the vey ran out of veggies and never replaced them. We had requested the Homestay well in advance that we eat a small dinner and need more fruit.
They gave us a bowl of unripened papayas and three small green bananas.

The location is somewhat remote. We did not see any security in action.the whole staff went on leave.so, it didn't feel that safe. I was told by the locals that it is a naxal activity area. We heard a loud noise near our cottage in the night. Nothing further happened fortunately- but if something happened, there was nobody around for help.presence of night security would give us a feeling of safety to the guests

Next morning the breakfast was poor.all we got was a small cup of papaya and dosa without chutney. They didn't refill the chutney at all.

I mentioned about my experience to the manager who took it very lightly. We could not meet the hosts as we checked out early. Thought we would get a call from them- but no. Thought they did not hear about it. So, We booked this property again in December 2015 and got a confirmation for the same. I wrote a mail to let them know that the experience would not get repeated again. But, what I got was a sudden cancellation call.

I wrote a review about the same on TripAdvisor. But, all we received was a stubborn reply from the hosts. I read their other replies on TA and found that they are not at all sensitive to customer issues and do not seem to like crit

We loved the property and the conversation with the hosts. If you point out the problems, they get very irritated. They appeared to be nice people as long as you complemented the place. A little more sensitivity towards customer problems would make the place a "home". I rate my experience and the host attitude towards criticism as 2*

A stay at Villa Urvinkhan is a truly unique experience.

Nestled amongst an old coffee estate of Arabica plants shaded under huge jungle trees, as you set your eyes on the property for the first time you are immediately struck by the attention to detail everywhere you look. This place is truly special and one can feel the love that went into it.

The beautiful landscaping makes it feels like it was always meant to be there, and nature wouldn't have had it any other way. A perfect union of beautiful earthy red laterite brick and Mangalore tiles, curated carved wooden pillars, and stone. The decor and interiors takes me back to estates of old: restored wooden tables and wicker chairs, four poster beds, comforting linens, and handloom rugs. The love and attention to detail is everywhere you look.

The rooms are fully equipped with everything one might expect at a star hotel, and even come with private outdoor showers that are a unique experience all to themselves.

The infinity style swimming pool, sand-coloured granite deck and the beautiful view of the valley the pool provides is a real sight to behold. I just couldn't bring myself to leave the pool.

The service is top notch and the staff is always all smiles. The food was just delicious! The home-style south Canara fare really took me back, and not just for seconds. I loved the food we got, but as I understand, the staff are willing to accommodate different palates.

The highlight of our visit was getting to meet and spend time with our gracious hosts - Sunil, Swetha and Sanjana. Our time with them was filled with great stories and bellies full of laughter.

The only regrets one will have about staying at Villa Urvinkhan is leaving too soon and having arrived too late.

Probably one of the best places if you are one of those looking for place to relax and enjoy nature. The combination of old-fashined architecture with modern amenities is spot on. The staff is extremely good and very well-mannered. And to add to the experience, the food preparations are really great with good taste and variations. The coffee mousse is to die for. Overall, an excellent place to relax and unwind.

This here is one of the hidden gems of Chikmagalur. You won't probably find this place listed on various portals, and you won't even find hoardings on the road that would lead you to this pristine homestay. Which is why it's so so beautiful. It's nestled between tea estates, and probably at the top of one of the hills that belongs to the owner. The road leading up to this premium/luxury homestay is proper off-road, but once you get to the property, it's a paradise.

There is a peculiar old-world charm to the structure built, including the dinning area and the six rooms that you can stay in. The food is simple but tastes good, and the staff is very courteous. There's a nice warm, welcoming feeling at this homestay. While this place isn't buzzing with activities, understandably, but you can spend some quality time with your friends and family either chilling at the pool side or soaking yourself wet in the infinity pool. If that doesn't excite you, a game of chess or carrom would. The rooms are big, clean, and the architect is beautiful. There is poor network reception here; Vodafone sucks, Jio is patchy, while Airtel works the best.

If you wish to take a break from your day routine or you want to run away from the daily grind, disconnect yourself from the outside world, this could be a very good option. With lots of greenery around, birds chirping to glory and a pool to yourself, this is a highly recommended homestay. Just make sure you call up the owners well in advance and block your dates. It's a worthy Two-Night premium homestay.

Beautiful homestay in a coffee estate. Offers great food, lovely cottages to stay and activities like trekking and fishing.
My only complaint was that the mattresses in the cottages are pretty hard and can be inconvenient for some.

Cosy, well designed and tastefully ethnic ambiance in the resort buildings, very wonderful owner couple, friendly hospitable staff, nice food. Surrounded by hills, coffee estate and expanse that would help calmness creep into you naturally, unobtrusively.

A beautiful getaway set in the middle of 360 degree greenery. Loved our stay here. The food was brilliant and courtesy accorded to us by the staff was very warm.

I had been to this heaven in 2014 with my family. We stayed for 5 day's and 4 nights. Where as our plan was for only 2 days one night. We were having 4 kid's with us but you won't believe it. We never had worried for them nor for our fun and joy. Who cares for money when you are close to mother nature with all the 7 star facilities and a very friendly owner and staff, most importantly the food and it's presentation awesome and real yummy. I have planned my next visit with the intension to live for at least one night and one day in each room.
