Ridiculously overpriced ticket of 250 per person, for visiting a 600 sq ft residence converted into a ‘textile museum’. Nothing but a sham.

A living museum of textiles to learn about our rich artisanal traditions. Come and learn about the different weaves and motifs of India. Support the craftspeople and sustainable fashion. Send your family textile heirlooms to Pavithra so they continue to enchant people from all over the world rather than crumble in your cupboards.

I was seeing such museum for the first time. When I went I first thought it might be just a shop for handloom. But no it was a museum with very beautiful art work made by common weavers preserved. The founder explains each piece very beautifully. One should definitely buy the bedsheets and towels, they are very soft and soothing. Once you start using them you may not like the normal bedsheets which come in market

The textiles curated here are truly alive. They told me (an urban dweller who doesn't know anything about textiles and designs) stories of their weavers' identities and creativity in the context of their society and its customs and status quos.

I also learned a bit about the process of creating these textiles and I'm sure somebody more familiar with it could have picked up much more.

Had an interaction with Pavithra Muddaiah, the founder of the museum. She explained enumerating various designs and stories behind each one of them. It was a perfect outing to learn about how open source in design worked fabulously until the renaissance in India (1990s). Most of the works you will see are from weavers across Karnataka, some from other parts of the country as well. The highlights of this place is the merging of these design techniques across geographies.

I did enjoy every bit of Pavithra mam's collection.
One should visit this place and support the weaver's.
Great place! For people who have great interest in our looms and weaves.

They have an ancient saree where the woman has woven the alphabets A to Z and the numerals 0 to 9. Women were not allowed to go to school at that time, so she has learnt it at home and woven it on a saree.
