Amritara The Poovath Beach Front Heritage, Fort Kochi, Kerala

A truly calming ambience. Tastefully done interiors. Furniture in the room has an old world charm. Neat washroom. Amazing view. This place gives you the perfect vibe for a creative retreat to write, read, paint.

Filthy room. Unacceptable. Pictures are deceiving, clearly not well managed. Beach no where to be seen from ground level, it's a small house with a wall all around. Though can get a bad smell from the invisible sea

Cochin is serene and beautiful. I loved my stay here not only because of the location but also the staff here, each one of them is so helpful and friendly. The serenity just continues. No mental noise in any interaction.

Beautifull hotel in very green and quiet surroundings just behind the sea.and very centrally located. The service of all the staff is more than excellent!

It is next to fort kochi beach and walkable from all the destinations in kochi including biennale and kathakali centre. Rooms are big and spacious. It was well-maintained and kept clean. Staff was really helpful in helping with destinations nearby.

Fantastic heritage hotel, set in a nice quiet location within minutes from the beach and promenade. Staff friendly and not too overbearing. Could have a more varied breakfast selection. Rooms were of a nice size and spotlessly clean as you would expect. Only criticism I have, is that this was the most expensive of the accommodation while traveling from Chennai to Kochi. I did stay in 5 other Residencies across India and were more or less on a par with the Poovath often for less than half the price.

A charming, peaceful hotel with kind and attentive staff. We had a modest room but a really spacious and lovely bathroom with plenty of hot water. Everywhere in the hotel are flowers and burning oils. There is a pretty garden with a little pool. We were really happy here.

This is a beautiful, old, heritage house. The gardens are serene and peaceful. Breakfast was good. The staff is excellent and friendly and helpful. The rooms are pretty, but sweetly old, as a heritage house would be. It is very clean. The staff is all around puttering about, dusting and sweeping. A good place to be.

Amritara The Poovath Heritage hotel is a small boutique hotel in Kochi. It is housed in a former Dutch colonial house. Each room is unique in size. Our room was unique having an internal veranda that faced the sea. The bathrooms are modern with showers. The prices offer good value for the unique building. The rooms and bathrooms are large. Rooms have a kettle and bottled water. We stayed five nights after a tour of Kerala in January 2020.

This hertiage property faces the sea and is next door to a famous Dutch colonial cemetery.

The staff are enuthiastic and helpful. The manager is keen to listen and improve standards. Food hygiene standards are a little variable. On our suggestion plastic covers for pastries and cakes were adopted. Overall the breakfasts are very good, nice variety of food and filling.

The hotel can arrange to do your laundry at the local outdoor laundry which is a tourist attraction in it's own right. You can hire a Tuk tuk taxi driver to take you to and from the famous laundry.

There is a swimming pool although occasionally the pool is out of action due to chemical imbalances. It turned the pool a strange colour.

The hotel is within easy walking distances of restaurants, cafes and other attractions. Nearly always there are Tuk tuk taxis outside the hotel or just around the corner. Make sure you negotiate a price before getting in.

Premium price for a run down filthy room. Toilet in a busy bar looks cleaner. Stains all over. Gross. Didn't want to touch the light switches. So dirty. Mold on the walls.

The place is next to the beach and you will here the generator sound till midnight from the beach shops. Okish rooms. I’ll say it’s not worth for the hefty price we pay for the rooms. The service was exceptional.

Beautiful property, located right near the sea. All the tourist spots are within walking distance. You will feel right at home:)

The hotel is a lovely, spacious, well done restoration with very comfortable and well appointed rooms as well as lots of open air spaces and views of the sea for the visitors. Breakfast on the veranda is also lovely and tasty, whether Continental or Indian cuisine. The staff are attentive and gracious, and the grounds and pool well cared for and maintained.

Am enjoying my stay here at the Poovah by Amritara in Fort Cochi. I have a beautiful room. It's very well located in town. Breakfasts have been great.
