Absolutely the best place where to stay in Kollam and Joseph is the best host you can wish for. Since the first moment he welcomed us with an open heart and the most beautiful recommendations.
He suggested us incredible festivals we have been taking part to and helped us to organise transportation and making a fulfilling plan every day.
Sanal, the manager, and all the stuff at Ashtamudi is helpful, sweet and kind.

Fantastic stay at Joseph and his guys’ place. By the lake, swimming everyday, chilling on hammocks, and getting ready for adventures nearby - we went there during festival season (March) and they took us to the most insane temple celebrations around - carnival on Indian vibes, mindblowing.
Best place we stayed in Kerala, easy.

Staff are perfection. Superb position. Services are great. Laundry etc.
Position is perfectly placed on the side of a lake. The odd rice boat will pull in for water once or twice a day.
Idyllic setting

This is the best place to stay if you are visiting Kollam. The lakeside setting is tranquil and poetic. The manager and staff are super attentive and have great recommendations for activities in the area. The food was excellent and the lodging met all our comfort needs. The manager also connected us to a fantastic driver to help us see sights near and around Kollam. Everyone was also very understanding and supportive in our situation when we arrived with some extra needs for recovering from an illness. This really is a not-to-be-missed place to stay when visiting Kerala.

Toller großer Garten mit Hängematten direkt am See, sehr entspannt, ruhig, aber sehr abgelegen. Keine Geschäfte und Restaurants in der Umgebung, aber man kann Essen liefern lassen. Die Küche beschränkt sich auf ein einfaches Gericht am Abend. Auch das Continental Frühstück ist sehr einfach.
Die Bungalows gibt es mit und ohne AC. Unser Bungalow mit AC war sehr großzügig und eigentlich für 3 Personen.

The most overpriced place we stayed in south India. The staff are lovely and helpful, the grounds are nice and the rooms were fine but we have experienced all of that for a fraction of the cost elsewhere. If the prices were more reasonable it would be 4* easily!

This was a fantastic option in Kollam. The manager kindly upgraded our room as it was my girlfriend's birthday, and ensured we were well looked after during our 2 day stay. It was a beautiful location, with hammocks swinging in the gardens, and free kayak rental on the lake which was excellent during sunset. The breakfast was good too, and it was really good value for money. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and had their own private veranda. Would definitely return again but for longer next time. Would highly reccomend to anyone staying in the area.

Nice and friendly place in a quite and green environment right at the lake, including hammocks strung between the trees.
Staff has also been very helpful and friendly from the minute I set foot on the property till the last second.

Fabulous as a solo traveller! I stayed for six (!) wonderful days and nights. As a solo traveller, this a great place to transition away from city life. It was very peaceful and quiet (a number of potential drop-ins left because there is no television), and I was able to work intensely outdoors all day with no disturbances and great wifi. I also loved complete access to a canoe, anytime from pre-dawn to sunset, dusk and beyond. Nadu was perfect and Sanal took tremendously good care of every possible thing. What a wonderful place, with great people!

The place is beautiful and peaceful by the lake. The staff was helpful.
However we were in a room with two beds and only one mosquito net. There were mosquitoes in the night. We could not turn the AC on in the room.
The first time there was noise for Onam festival until 3: 30am.
They could only provide toast on cornflake but no other dish on the menu.
The room was really overpriced for what was offered (10 000rps for 2 nights, excluding breakfast and water).
We won’t be coming back at this price.

Ashtamudi villas is beautiful and comfortable accommodation positioned in natural surroundings in front of a lake.

The owner Joseph and the manager and staff Sanal and Nadu are hospitable and accommodating. They took great care of my wife and I and our three children. They made delicious food and arranged transport for us.

The villas were the first place in India we stayed on arrival from Europe. I hope our next homestay is as good!

The property is beautiful. Access to the lake & lake view is as close to the glass door of the room.
The hosts are very helpful. They didn’t charge for tea services, ordered food for me and paid the service as I’d no cash. They caught some fresh lake fish and fried it for my dinner.
Sanal has an eye for photography and video editing as well.
The wifi is also good, makes it suitable for workation as well.
Overall had a great experience! Highly recommended

Nice comfy rooms that are sparkling clean. The highlight of this place was the staff- they were extremely helpful, attentive and looked after me with so much care.

We Stayed there twice and had a good time. The ambience is very much relaxing. Friendly courteous staff and lake view rooms with swings and hammocks.convenient location

Loved every moment @ashtamudivillas kollam. The infrastructure is so well thought and constructed. The view from the villa is so amazing that it can't be defined by words and the staffs here are super friendly. The bestest choice if you are looking for a coolest view of Ashtamudi lake at affordable rates.

It's really a wonderful place to stay, to get relaxed, to explore inner peace and happiness.mostly the love, hospitality, care and concern of the care takers especially Mr Sanal and the boy who are ever ready to lend helping hands, are quite appreciable. The front of the resort faces the lake and the greenery that is set infront of the resort is also mind blowing.we felt really at home and thanks to astamudi villa

A wonderful location right on the water. The single villa is especially lovely and secluded, though it doesn’t have AC, we didn’t feel the heat. Sanal is very hospitable.

Good ambience, tasty food, good hospitality and what more.
If u wanna spend ur holidays in a plastic free, eco friendly place, u should definitely opt this paradise.

We had a beautiful night stay at this place. Mr. Sanal, the in charge, was very friendly and helpful.
Rooms were clean, well maintained. And we had a gorgeous view of the lake in front.
The only negative is that we had no provision of fold there. But Mr Sanal had informed this well earlier so that we didn't hav any confusion.
Rest, everything was superb.

Stayed at this property for one night during March 2021.

Pros:
1) You can just sit and relax enjoying the view of Ashtamudi Lake. Will see houseboats and local boats roaming around the lake.
2) rooms are neat and clean.
3) the staff is friendly and helpful.
4) boating is available for an additional rate, if needed.

Cons:
1) You can just sit and relax.nothing else.no TV, no games.there is some lawn area with a few hammocks.
2) except tea, you have to wait for swiggy delivery boy to satisfy your appetite.
3) there is no parking space within property, you have to park outside, that too maximum 2-3 cars.
4) the path to the property is too narrow that you will think twice before driving out in the middle of the stay.
5) out of 6 rooms, only 2 are AC ones. Rs. 2000 for non ac is not worth for this property.
6) if the occupancy is full, the lawn area will be too conjusted.

Enjoyable place. Free from noise and air pollution. Morning, when u wake up and see the dancing backwaters, with cooing birds, u feel blissful.

It was very peaceful. The person in-charge is friendly. They will never be around us. We have the freedom to sit out. Rooms were clean and tidy, well maintained, flexible with the timings. Located nearer to bus stand, you can avail boating they will pick you up at villa. A place to be visited for people love to read books and relax.

Very poor service. Owner is very rude and does not have respect for Indians. No AC, cats running on the shed all night long, people were talking all night long and mosquitoes. Worst accommodation in our entire Kerala trip. Horrible Horrible Horrible. I don't have an option for negative stars here lol.

Visited Asthamudi villas for new year 2020. We were received with warm welcome by the staff. This is a small property with 6 rooms/villas right next to asthamudi lake.we stayed in room 3 facing the lake.the view from the room is spectacular. The rooms are very clean and well maintained.courteous and helpful staff.since the property is facing south we could see the beautiful sun rise and sunset on lake side. Sitting in garden rt next to the lake having breakfast in the morning or sipping on a tasty red wine in the evening is one of the special experiences.we are free to do fishing here. Carring a fishing rod can be good idea to pass time here. There is fibre boat which you can take out for boating provided your are experienced, lake is too deep and dangerous.or you can ask the staff for arranging a boat trip. I highly recommend staying at this place atleast a day if you are visiting kollam kerala.
