The Mutton roast was absolutely perfect and we were fortunate to get hot and crispy porotta which was a great combination. This shop has heritage in pure delicious mutton since it started and is quite famous and people trust that.
Had a terrible experience from Bharath Cafe today. We have ordered mutton roast and found parts of feather in it. When we complained about this, the owner was so rude and didn’t even check the issue with the kitchen crew. Not at all recommended to people who are looking for quality food and service.
First of all I want to say about the food was amazing. I really like that food especially the chicken biriyani. The sadya was also superb. Literally I loved the food. I come with my family they also liksled. And I think a little bit expensive here thats all but we can afford
Chicken Curry And Mutton Soup My Fav picklist Skillful Preparation: The way the food is prepared and cooked can greatly impact its quality. Attention to detail, proper cooking techniques, and skillful execution can elevate a dish and bring out its best flavors.
Remember, everyone has their own taste preferences, so what one person may consider good food, another person may not. It's important to keep an open mind and respect individual preferences when evaluating or discussing good food.
During my recent visit to Bharath Cafe in Karunagappally, I must admit that I was disappointed with my overall experience. The restaurant had received quite a bit of hype, but unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations.
One of the main letdowns was the food. I tried their ghee rice, and while it was edible, it was nothing more than average in terms of taste. The flavors were lacking, and the rice itself was not perfectly cooked. Additionally, I ordered the mutton chops, which turned out to be quite hard to chew. However, I must admit that the gravy accompanying the chops was tasty, providing a saving grace for that particular dish.
The service at Bharath Cafe was also average. The staff members did their job, but there was nothing exceptional about their service. Considering the reputation and prices of the restaurant, I expected a higher level of attentiveness and hospitality.
One positive aspect worth mentioning is that Bharath Cafe has a long-standing history in Karunagappally, having recently reopened after a renovation. It was interesting to visit an old and renowned establishment in the area.
However, one glaring issue I noticed was the lack of sufficient parking space. This can be quite inconvenient for customers, especially during busy hours when finding a parking spot becomes a challenge.
Overall, my experience at Bharath Cafe was underwhelming. The food failed to meet my expectations, the service was average, and the high prices did not justify the overall dining experience. While there might be some dishes worth trying, such as the mutton liver roast mentioned in another review, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant based on my own experience.
No other place you can find to can eat Mutton of this quality. Since my grandfather's time, Bharath Cafe is known for its mutton, and it has not changed. Another pride of Karunagapally.
Bought parcel of Mutton roast (250 rs), barely a handful, Couldn't tell the difference between beef curry and their mutton roast, also ignored the request for extra gravy.
Food quality decreases day by day and price increases a lot They dont know how to make chicken biriyani (₹ 180) Chicken is so hard and biriyani is like gravy mixed in rice Overhyped restaurant
Disappointed with the food, overhyped restaurant. Ghee rice was average in taste. The mutton chops were very hard to chew but gravy was tasty. Average service and high price.
Bharath Cafe used to be very good when it comes with mutton chaps. Mostly we used to order mutton chaps because taste was extraordinary even though price was bit expensive and quantity also would not be less and taste used to be awesome but last year in October tried their mutton chaps taste gone for toss and quantity also gone for toss.
Now this year in july again thought of trying, ordered Mutton roast two plate and 12 Kerala parota instead of parota they gave Ari patiri. Very much disappointed with the quantity of mutton roast even two plates is not enough for 2 people and cost is so high. Over all paid approx 650 plus.
Mutton roast 1/5 Mutton chap 1/5
Changing this restaurant ratings to 1/5. This is the last time i have ordered will never try again. Lost a customer. Not at all recommend.
Waste of money. Taste is below average price is too high. After serving the food the waiters are acting like beggars. Better don’t order mutton chaps they will cheat.
Bharath cafe is established in 1965 at the bank of NH 47@Karunagappalli, Kollam district, Kerala. Well experienced hotel in town. Serving delicious and hygienic food. Customers are treated better than any other spaces. Really had a nice experience.
Bharath cafe is one of the oldest hotels and a good one in the city of Karunagapally. It is located in Puthiyakavu Junction beside the traffic signal. You can take the service road and approach the hotel. Went there yesterday and had Aripathiri, Appam, Chicken Fry, Mutton Chaps and Lime. It was all good and delicious. Probably the best and only place with so much of Mutton dishes. If you want to have Mutton, this is the best place.
An old hotel in karunagappally. It is now open after the renovation. This hotel is famous for mutton items. I ordered a mutton bhiriyani and mutton liver. The bhiriyani was average didnt beat my expectation. The rice was not perfectly boiled. But the liver roast was awesome. There is no sufficient parking area here.
An Old School typical restaurant with signature traditional tastes. The dishes in the menu could be as old as the restaurant since theyve kept it signature style. The mutton curry seems to be the highlight which is 4.5 out of 5. Chicken fry can be rated 4/5 Service 4/5
One word: overrated. Two words: overpriced, overrated. Other than mutton dishes nothing is good here. Greater price and lesser quantity. If you want to try mutton, you can visit here, but I would never recommend here for anything else.
I was there for Mutton chops unfortunately it was out of stock at that time. Adjusted with Mutton roast it was also good. It provides a nostalgic feel like 90s because of the building structure and ambience.
Had chicken biryani and mutton roast from this place. Biriyani was pretty good. Mutton roast wasn't that great. I've heard that the mutton biryani here is really good, but haven't got a chance to try it yet.everytime i was there, mutton biryani was already finished.
Writing this review for the Bharat Cafe that has existed ever since my childhood, way back in 90s my granma will take me to the hotel, for a plate of pathiri (kerala parotta). I feel the place has survived till now, and strongly going on. Famous for its Mutton Biryani. We had fish fry and meals from here, I will vouch its great compared to other hotels on the stretch of national highway especially in Kollam district. But the cleanliness and hygiene part can be improved though, and serving staff is good. Havent used the parking space, since we always stayed near by. Hail the hard work of Bharat Cafe team to maintain that we all love - Traditional taste.
Tried their lunch menu and the famous mutton biriyani.we bought the mackerel fry as a side dish for the lunch meals.the food quality was great and the service was good.i wish this place should be little bit more clean.the fish fry was big and worth the money. 2 people can share one fry.
Very traditional place where you can see seats occupied all the time. I really enjoyed their meals. Well behaved staffs and they ave very good at what they do. Only negative I can think of is the parking. Even though they have a separate place for customer parking, it feels like only skilled drivers can play around if they have 3-4 vehicles already parked.
One of the oldest hotel in karunagappally located in puthiyakavu temple. Very tasty food serving service also good. Mutton variety is very tasty.easy to identify normal traffic parking area also available near to the signal
Best known for their mutton dishes, I tried their mutton chapse and mutton curry along with their kallappam. I must say that they are the best mutton dishes I ever had. It's rare to find such delicious mutton dishes. Highly recommended their mutton dishes and kallappam.
The restaurant has been there since more than 40 years or so. Though it's an old fashioned one it's clean and serves quality Kerala food. The staffs are very friendly and the food is homely. The location is right beside the highway and I hope to stop by again.
Surprised at the high reviews this place is getting! We had biriyani which was average and mutton roast which even disappointed us! Doubt regarding hygiene because they supplied surplus aripathiris and happily took back the ones we left behind! Not worth visiting for its legacy, unless you can't find another decent restaurant around!
The place is 54 years old and has a legendary status on the map of karunagapally. Its a mutton dish lovers palace with 70's ambience. Its dated interior and old school atmosphere is a serious let down for many, but the taste of the food make up for that. Even the veggie options taste very good. The Tea, especially the black tea is a delight of its own. The appam, chicken dishes and the classic mutton soup tastes excellent. The let downs are the wash area, the rest room/toilet and the total lighting ambience of the place.
The place is easy to find in the National Highway, has ample parking in front of the hotel, even has a security guy to guide your parking. The table attenders are very old styled good manners people who waits for your orders and listens to you. They even have some suggestions if you want.
I visited the hotel with my family and had breakfast from there. The food was average, but the tea was good. But after that everyone got stomach ache. I doubt the quality of the food they served.
Mutton soup, mutton brain, and all the mutton menu is tasty and good behaviour of the staff. Good, Once again had the taste of traditional mutton soup, mutton liver fry, mutton brain, with porotta and pathiri. Finished with Sulaimani (lemon tea).
Very good restaurant. Very tasty food and fast service. The mutton recipe are extremely tasty and even the smallest member of our family liked it. Superb. Recommended to all foodies.
