Club Mahindra Poovar Resort in Kerala

Worst place to be is the club Mahindra poovar, we are members of club Mahindra and after visiting ashtamudi property we came to poovar, what a shame the property is the staff are like headless chickens walking around, we were not even welcomed properly no welcome drink nothing, they gave us a room with the pool and then the next day they made us to vacate that room and put us in another room saying that that room was booked but someone else but it was all lies no one stayed in that room till we checked out, we ordered for a sandwich the first day at poovar which took forever to come, after trying their number for close to 15 mins they picked up but the girl who picked up could not understand English or even Hindi properly, somehow after 1 HR I got the sandwich, the food is really expensive and buffet what they serve is pathetic no taste nothing the food at ashtamudi property is very nice tasty and had alot of variety but at poovar it's better to eat out itself, the reception people have a very bad attitude they don't speak properly and they don't understand what we speak. The worst is the spa, the room was horrible and horrific, i got a panic attack during the so called massage, it was not a massage it was torture, it was got the AC was not working the room was so claustrophobic it was 45 mins of torture. Overall horrible rooms and worst place.

Balcony room is good property is great staff are friendly and courteous all in all good food is good but expensive. Enjoyed our stay swimming pool also is good the have a beautiful garden and farm and few activities such as outdoor badminton and paid archery

Poor management led to a one-hour wait to get a room. The staff provided the worst service. I wouldn't recommend this place for team gatherings.

Very good property in terms of swimming pool, backwater, closeness to beach and good surrounding. Rooms are big enough. One issue is lack of lift. Our rooms were on 1 st floor and was difficult for my old age mother to climb. The hotel did changed our room later to ground floor. Food cost is on higher side for non club members. Some rooms has smell of oil. Overall a good experience.

We went to club Mahindra for a team get together. Nobody was there to welcome us. And the customer service was so pathetic. Food included in the package was below average. And they failed to do the activities they agreed to arrange, which was already paid.
Overall we had very bad experience in club Mahindra Poovar. Never recommend to anyone.

Went there for a vacation. Many good tourist location are at a distance of 45min - 1.5 hour.
The resort is well developed with very good amenities. Pool and lawn are well maintained

It gives memorable stay. Dont miss boating from resort to kovalam beach and back to resort. Food is very good

A beautiful resort view great view of the backwaters/sea. The most admirable thing about them must be the hospitality. Housekeeping manager Mr. Praveen totally ensured that we were happy during our stay there. A Perfect getaway from your routine life.

We had a wonderful stay at club Mahindra poovar.its having sceneric location with back water river view n lush green surrounding.having private pool in one br was a luxury which my twin kiddos enjoy.delicious food with great services by humble staff.

This was my second visit to Poovar. A really nice place. The ambience is great. The concept of the private pools is really something innovative. We have been visiting Club Mahindra Resorts for almost 10 years and throughout this time period, the resorts as a whole have lived up to their reputation.something which is hard to come by these days. Keep up the good work guys!

I enjoyed the whole atmosphere. However, customer service must be improved. If we ask for some hot water, they will only bring us hot water and no cups to serve it in. Lunch was included in our package, however the quality was lacking. Food taste and variety must be improved.

The basic hotel infrastructure like the drainage etc is worn out and does not function optimally causing discomfort and hygiene issues. The respost needs to be optimally staffed. Looks like the staff is working hard but does not have the bandwidth to manage the property. The hotel standard is no where what we expect from club mahindra. I am a 2BR Purple member and if this is my experience not sure what others might be going through. Even the 1 star I am giving is for staff service everything else need a major rethink!

We had a good stay in the resort. The atmosphere was really good. We were booked a room with private pool. The room were very elegant and had all the facilities over there. The room services were so perfect and if we needed anything they provided everything without any delay. The staffs were very professional. The one thing is that I was little bit sad is that the game zones were closed, it would be really good experience if that was open. Other than that I liked everything.

Resort rooms are old, but gives a heritage look.
Rental car are expensive as there is union around the place. Resort F &B manager Mr. Amal was very helpful.

Overall good but need to maintain the premises and rooms. Taste of food is average and quantity wise also not sufficient. Club Mahindra has to look into pricing of food and not everyone likes to eat Buffet. Ala-Carte is too costly.

In my opinion, Just use d premises and suggest not to dine.

I had heard of "best hospitality", but I experienced it here. THE BEST. People here are reday to help you out if you are struck anywhere during your stay. Neat and clean environment, safe.please do visit. Thank you club mahendra.

A nice place to spend your time. This place has got a lot of greenery where you can rest and there are activities which you can enjoy on separate payments.

You will get a nice view of backwater from some point of this resort.

One of the demerit is that when you go as a group make sure you go by a single vehicle so that you can easily park your vehicle inside their compound or else the parking is an issue.

When I visited during Onam 2021 Sadya was only ok but I felt it can be made better.

Good ambience, Excellent food, spacious and neat rooms, friendly staff, special mention to Chef Biju for the excellent spread. Thank you for making our stay memorable.

Had a very nice experience. Heard that the food was only average but we had an excellent food buffet throughout the day at a reasonable price, the chief itself asked for the suggestions. Breakfast and dinner was so good with variety of items. The room and the private pool were also cleaned and the covid protocols were also maintained. Child friendly and had an awesome family trip.

Club Mahindra Poovar is a good place to stay since it has dedicated pool but due to high covid cases in kerala options for having outside food aren't that great. Sight seeing isn't possible too. So plan accordingly.

One of the finest properties of Club Mahindra. Serene atmosphere and good ambience. Utmost care is taken to follow the COVID protocol. Property is bit old but well maintained. IBR is with private pool. Common pool is closed. Yummy food and staff is very courteous and cooperative.

Good property to spend time with family, They are following all the measures to avoid COVID 19 like vehicle sanitization, luggage sanitization, foot wear sanitization and other precautions also.

Very calm and pleasant resort, great for family vacation.plenty of open space and sporting equipment to keep kids busy, reasonably big pool, spas give a feeling of full vacation and make it one of the best resort in Trivandrum area.
Staffs are friendly and very attentive.

One problem is the persistent membership marketing.
And the food is little pricey, especially a'la-carte. So is the case with some of the rides.

The resort is actually good, but due to the timing of our visit we were not able to fully appreciate the activities there. The staff service was excellent, activities like boating was not functional. I heard that poovar is the only resort with private pool cottages don't know if it's true. As far as places to visit there is shanghumugam beach, Kovalam beach, trivandrum zoo and museum. With club Mahindra membership plans you can come and enjoy with family and friends. Definitely recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at the resort for two nights and three days from 14/4/21 to 16/4/21 (two cottages). Actually we thought of cancelling the booking due to the pandemic situation, but decided to have a break from the home confinement for the last one year.
When we landed up in the resort, the worry which we had earlier completely gone seeing the arrangement and hospitality
Not so much crowdy, paid and non paid activities refreshing us, the fanatastic food we had rejuvenated and made all of us fit to face another cofinement.
Little concern about the housekeeping.
Kudos to the resort manager and team.
Will definitely prefer the locaation for another break.

Room, ambience and experience is really good. Loved their private pool villa. All activities are extra charged and food is highly priced.

It was a good experience. The pool is really nice. Not recommended for keralites as there is nothing to add value to their experience.
Water is salty. Pollution is high, in the lake and the beach.

- Not much menu’s in breakfast and taste is not good
- Can’t play any indoor games after 8PM
- Rooms too not good as other resorts

One of the best resort in Poovar. Great staff, the room was well equipped and the service also excellent. The location and room was absolutely perfect.

This resort has a lovely location and well maintained property on the backwaters of Poovar. The staff is very polite and did their best to make us comfortable and happy. We enjoyed playing games even after closing times with Mr. Manoj and others who helped us with room service indoor and outdoor games. The best part was the private pool especially during COVID times as it offers safety, privacy aswell as round the clock access. Again many thanks to club Mahindra and all the locals who made our trip memorable.:)

Nice resort.we stayed in a one bedroom villa with an attached pool. I should say we enjoyed our stay, the highlight being the private pool. The staff at the restaurant and lobby were helpful. But the buffet spread was very limited considering the exorbitant prices that Mahindra charges. One thing that we were not happy with was the room cleaning.a shabby work done by the maintenance staff.otherwise a good place to spend a few days

Good place for recreation. Little bit expensive, but they provide good facilities includes spa massage, restaurant, boating, swimming pools, rooms. Resort is surrounded by lake.

Beautiful resort on the banks of Neyyar river. Good food, great pool villas. Exceptional sunset backwater motor boat ride. But poovar as a place is very humid from March to June. It's a great place to visit during Indian winters.

Beautiful resort near the backwaters. Amazing view. Well maintained resorts, and 1 bed room resort is having private swimming pool as well. Strict covid protocol is kept all over the property so that its safe to travel even in this pandemic time.

Bad experience. Unclean rooms provided and when requested to clear, they rejected due to Covid. What a bad service we realized ever.

We booked Superior category rooms, they allocated Hotel category rooms and when asked same, they said they don't have Superior room available.

The property is very good but poorly maintained rooms.very bad washrooms.never take club membership it’s just waste of money, front help desk staff is very bad.it looks like we are staying here for free.never recommend.al together good maintenance and proper trained staff would help

Good place to relax.we had the premium 1BR rooms which had a private pool and that was a plus point in these times.since we had a 4yr old and senior citizens with us.staying within the resort itself was good enough.service and food was also good

Washing water was salty and when I asked why no proper response from management. Lack hospitality

To be really honest- one of the worst resorts.
Planned for a day outing with our family at the resort.
We planned to go late and reached by 12 30 and had to wait until 2 to get a room and which was really unclean and looks like we got a room near to the spa. Remember we have two infants with us and it was a smelly room too.
Food was terrible - had to wait for them to give us the banana leaf serving and the welcome drink was pathetic.
Hospitality needs to be improve.
When we had access to the pool - our 1 year old kid was moved out from the pool since she Dint had a bikini. What else? Arrogant guy who is in there and we checked out before the time allowed.

Well arranged Studios and HU. More focus can be given to house keeping. Wonderful food. A perfect weekend getaway with family.

The resort does not stand upto the premium they charge.
Comes with pool facility and boating, but not much of to be excited about/interesting
The room to be frank i would consider it average, we booked for 4 but were given a 2 adult room with an additional cushions (not even mattress) laid on floor for the other two
I wont consider this to be a premium in that aspect

Never look upon this as an holiday or vacation spot would be dissapointing, my advice is take it an as 1-2day escape/get away during hectic work schedules nothing more than that

Excellent place to relax and rejuvenate. It's property attached to the backwaters. Ride through mangrove forest was an excellent experience. Also the sunset point on the beach you should not miss. I was so happy that my studio room got upgraded to attached pool villa on the second day of stay which was an awesome memorable experience. Nice property and worth for money

Property is good with lot of amenities, standard rooms are average. Tiles in bathroom slippery. A few mosquito's as well. Food prices are like 5 *, not worth it.

Old building demands renovation. The bathroom flush was leaking. Floor Tiles were broken at quite a few places. Room was not ready even uptill 4pm although check in time was 2pm. They Took lot of time at check out. Bellboy came to pick our luggage from the room after 20min of calling and second reminder. For water also we had to come down from second floor and fill our bottles on our own because after repeated reminders no person from the staff came. The activity/travel charges are too much if we book a cab or boat from club mahindra. All in all not a very satisfactory stay.

Its a good resort to spend time. The services provided are timely and perfect Location of the resort is exactly at place viraly near poovar The road to get there is a little messy due to narrow roads. Rooms available are very much good They also arrange facilities to visit near by tourist spots including neyyar dam, kanyakumari etc.

Stayed here while on a visit to tvm for a family function, so didn't get to spend much time at the resort or try their activities or food. But this time, stayed at the cottage which are a whole lot better then their hotel rooms. Very spacious, private and comfortable. Friendly staff, though someone kept calling me asking for a meeting and discuss options to upgrade my membership.

Our experience at Club Mahindra, Poovar was indelible. The staff there is extremely couteous; Chef Sarvanan and Phurmeet and others made sure we ate to our heart’s content. There is a personal and regional touch to everything from food to the overall ambience. Their Herbal and Vegetable Plantation is beautiful. This place is a must visit for it’s soothing ayurvedic Massage and delicious Kerala Meal (Sadhya) amongst other things.

Very very bad experiance. Rooms were horrible. I think worst club Mahindra resort. Rooms were dirty, not furnished well and no sitting chair and table in the room. Staff was also not properly trained. Wrong billing done so check your bill properly before making payment. Toilet condition was worst, basin leakage and all accessories were rusted. Flush and hand jet not working properly. Air condition in the room also not placed properly and also in poor condition. Go only if pool Villa or cottage is available else HU rooms are pathetic. Manager told us that they are going to re furnished the entire property but check before you book.

A very scenic place to visit. But, the boat riders fleece the tourists accordingly by looking at ones body language or understanding where they are from. So its better to receive help from a local guardian or freelancer who can ensure you that doesn't happen! Many of the floating hotels and home stays have an unholy understanding with these boat riders who get a percentage in the fleece! Club Mahindra should be a preferred place to stay not only due to their high ceiling guest rooms, but due to the online payment facilities that they offer, avoiding the fleecing agents. The ride along the backwaters is clean and serene. The boat can be stopped along the pass ways and the beach. The vegetations along the causeway is thick and lush.

First impression was not up to the marks. But after interaction with the staff especially with Mis. Sheena, the customer relations manager and Hostesss Mrs. Soumia the impression completely changed. When we reached the Restorent with Soumya and after first lunch at Club Mahendra we feel it as our home. When I interact with waitresses Mis. Phurmit and the captain Mr. Monikandan we decide to have our food at Mahendra itself. For vegetarians it is a better in choice. When we enter in to the entertainment hall we saw Mis. Sheena with a different appeal, playing and dancing with guests acting as a DJ.
As we were there for a relaxation we spent all the three days inside the property itself.
The "couple package " of your SPA was the best attraction for a couple like us. It is not fair if I didn't appreciate the whole staffs of this SPA.

Good place for team and family fun outing! Food for our team outing was not good and very less items were served in buffet. Apart from that the rest are all good, clean rooms, pool, cricket, football, shuttle and lots of games to play. Boating is very good. A nice experience overall!

Nothing less than 5* for this property. Well built property located near the sea side. Lush palm grooves and private pool for one bedroom cottages. Also studio rooms and hotel units available here. We stayed there with family for 5 days there. Kids were so enjoyed with the private pool and trampoline at playing area. Fun zone need some improvement and overall the property is due for maintenance. Staff there are very polite and helpful l, especially one Mr. Ananthu at reception.

I wasn't satisfied with the experience that much. It was for a family retreat that we went there. A team of 20 people for a day in -out trip. The main attraction was their pool, but be careful if you go in as some of the tiles around are broken. Do not let children run around the pool unnoticed. Their park consists of a trampoline for children which has rusty links (so they only allow children in), a multi slide and a swing. The buffet was not as expected (taste and dish wise). Dessert section was good. There was just a veg pakoda and coffee n tea as the evening snacks. They do hàve nice property. The boat ride was good but seemed like it was one of the slowest ride ever.

If ur going for a day out this is not a place for you. They consider you as a secondary citizen. There is no guarantee that you will get a room even though they confirmed your booking. Even they will persuade u to take ayurvedic treatment hall for 12 people. After almost 2 hours of discussion only they alloted a room. We went for a farewell party and all our mood were spoiled.

The resort is nice. Worthy staying is the pool cottage that has a pool all for yourself. However the overall service is very poor, we had to wait at the reception for 2 complete hours for our room. Please do not take cabs from the resort as they are charged expectantly high.

Given a choice go for the private pool villa. It is the best of the rooms one can live in this property. The property is quite big, and it has numerous activities. Garden area faces to the beach & floating cottages. One of the besy property of club Mahindra to live in.

Highly neat rooms and very large size convenient rooms. However staff have to improve their customer services. Food is not having so much varieties and their food also not having tasty. They have to maintain their swimming pool in order. Majority of tiles in the pool are broken. Due to this an injury was happened to my son in his foot and was bleeding. I approached pool assistance, immediately he cleaned and helped with dettol, antiseptic cream, bandage. THANKS to him for his service, otherwise it is okay
