The Durbar Hall Ground is a popular location for various cultural activities in the city of Kochi, Kerala, India. The compound of the ground also has the Durbar Hall, which now functions mostly as an art gallery. The ground itself is used for various cultural programmes of interest to the general public.
A good park that is marred by management issues and the behavior of those that frequent the place. The ground essentially consists of a rectangular space with green grass with a stage on one side. Around this central space is a walkway with parking bays and a walkway. While the essential infrastructure is in place, crowd and car management are poor. Sometimes cars block the walkway and crowds from multiple events spill out on to the central open space. There are flocks of pigeons flying around and those with allergies etc.should be careful. Maintenance of the central open space is also not that great so please walk across it carefully. There are often nails, open shafts for wooden supports etc.in it. Sometimes the ground is taken up for events. In such cases be prepared for high volume music that will test your ear drums and crazy crowds. Recommended but be careful of when you visit.
An awesome ground and park in the middle of a metro city is more than what you can always ask for! Brilliant space and kudos to the corporation for maintaining it so neat

The Durbar Hall is situated in between Park Avenue Road and MG Road in Ernakulam District, Kerala. The hall now functions mostly as an art gallery. Now an art exhibition in connection with Kochi Musseries Biennale 2018 is going on in the hall. The ground in which the hall is situated is being used for various cultural programmes. It has two entrances, one opposite the TDM Hall, and another on the northern side opposite the Rama Varma Club. This two acres of land was owned by the Maharajah of Cochin.
During the early days this ground was used for exhibitions, football games, regular military parades and for the processions taken out in connection with the Shiva Temple festival.
For a long while this ground remained neglected and served as a dumping yard. Now this ground and the hall is owned by the Revenue Department. A restoration and beautification work was carried out by the District Tourism Promotion Council during 1998-99. An open-air auditorium, the band stand, light towers to ensure proper lighting, pay and park facilities have all gone to give this ground a facelift. The beautification programme led to a very new look for the ground, which now boasts of a very green lawn and a walkway.
