Small and cozy place to be in, most people don't even observe it to be there and proceed further. The kitchen staff & the server were pretty amazing people and knew how to give the best to customer. We all liked everything we ordered. Polite & corteus.
We went to this restaurant for lunch because it was recommended by our driver.
None of the rice items were available. So we ended up having appam and porotta along with beef roast, beef fry and chicken kondattam.
All the dishes were excellent. We were the only customers in the restaurant at that time. It was a relatively small place. There were some nice graffiti on the walls.
The service wasn't fast but the servers were quite polite and helpful.
I would definitely try out their other dishes in season if I visited again in season.
Pretty basic menu, we had chicken fried rice and chilli chicken which were decent. The ambience has a youthful vibe, and a great choice of music too. You can order beer too.
A super place, the photographs don't do justice to this beautifuly hidden gem. Even when we reached the restaurant on day 1 we didn't go in and unfortunately went to the place opposite and really cribbed. But the second night we made sure to go here and the place has an amazing sitting area which is not visible from the main road at all. The vibe is amazing, the food is outstanding.we all over ate so much. Owner is himself involved in the restaurant operations and they r doing a fabulous job.
Seems the positive reviews are written by the owner himself. Believing the reviews we drove 1.5 km away from our route only to find exact opposite of what is written in the reviews. A stinky little place with bath rooms and floors never cleaned. No parking facility. As soon as we tried to open the bath room door we decided to change our plan.
Very cosy terrace, and delicious food! We loved all the dishes, and I had the best appam I ever tasted! They adjusted the spicy according to our need. We will definetly come back, and recommand anybody to go. Thank you for the unforgettable dinner!
I think I would travel all the way to Thekkady just to eat at this place. It is amazing! They can make the spice as per your preference. But the "must try dishes" are the Chicken curry, Appam and Chicken kondattam. Medium spicy but amazing taste!
Even if they charge double, I would still happily pay for it. If you're in Thekkady, Don't think and just go eat here!
EDIT: I went back for dinner the same day ;) also tried the parotta and the butter chicken. Yum!
Best meal we have had in Thekkady. We ordered chicken curry, mushroom ularthiyathu, kappa beef, chicken kondattam, appam, and parantha. There is nice outdoor seating downstairs.
We loved this place so much that we came back 3 times here for food during our time in Thekkady. Each time we were even more impressed with the food than before. Grandma's Cafe is a gem with delicious food, fantastic service, and great prices. I would especially recommend the paneer masala and the vegetarian meal.
This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool. The staff is also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my orders. There is no word than amazing in my view and I am really satisfied with this cafe
The staff is kind and it might be that it was a bad day but we were the only customers and they forgot our order. Also, we are vegetarian and said it more than once and they brought us by mistake a chicken dish. When asked to change it they brought the same sauce we had already for the other place. Also, there are no prices in the menu. It’s not expensive but I don’t understand why shouldn’t I know the prices of what I order. Food was good tho.
This place had a great blend of modern ambience and traditional food. We had puttu, kappa with beef and chicken. The preparation was simply delicious. The staff was cordial. The rates were reasonable.
Shady ambience with lot of foreigners visiting. Kerala Menu is good to have with chilled beer. Service is good. Waiters understand hindi english and some can speak German. Don't know if they accept card payment. Food quality was too good. We ordered kozhi curry and Kerala Paratha. Splendid taste. Need to keep mosquito coil as there are some malaria spreading insects
On the outside, it looks like a passable cafe.but you must go inside! Great ambience, creatively done up place with good food and beer. Small place with friendly staff. Recommend it for dinner while in Thekkady!
Good food and cold beer. Nice ambience and very friendly service. We liked the vege spring rolls and Keralese chicken curry (Kozhi?). Dessert was not great - only one Gulab jamun in an entire serve
