HOTEL OMKARA - The Premium Veg

Hotel Omkara is near my workspace. Sometimes I order and eat the food here, they provide good service and sometimes average service. Good tasting meals, available with payasam. Prices are high compared to other pure veg hotels. During the festival time, they provide onam sadhya which is very costly, not worth 300 rupees.

The huge space in the dining area specifically divided more floors for food, so it takes some time for food to arrive,
If you want a good veg meal Calicut preferred this restaurant and one meal, also here eve snacks and morning food. I think They have north Indian food also. Average space for parking because of the restaurant near to the highway

I visited the hotel for food only. But i was being not at all noticed by the staff, even though there was only a few customers in the dial. The waiters were not even noticing me. Very bad customer service and satisfaction.i have never seen a hotel like this service.

I stayed at this Hotel for 2 days and felt good about it. I tried their A/C and Non A/C restaurant while I was there and the food was great in both the restaurants.

It was for breakfast, not for a stay. The quality of food is good. Best available vegetarian hotels in and around Kozhikode. Idli Vada Chutney is.

One of the worst restaurants ever I have visited in Kerala! I came all the way from Bangalore! Worst service! Worst behaviour by waiters! Would never come again and would never recommend!

The only hotel i visit for food whenever i am in calicut. Really surprised by the quality of food. Tastes really really good. Prices are a bit high while comparing to other veg hotels but for this quality of food, it seems it is well priced. The downsides are really long waiting time for food to arrive. Also you need to provide spoons or something with your take out order of soups. Bought vegetable soup 3 times and was left with no utensils at all in the package.

We booked a room in hotel omkara via make my trip.we have paid the amount already and informed the hotel manager that we will be doing late check in.when we arrived at the hotel that was around 5.30 in the morning there was no one around except a security who asked us to wait.he said he will inform manager.he came back like 2 minutes told us that some one would come soon to receive us.so we waited there for 20 minutes.since no one showed up we again enquired to the security.his answer astonished us.he told us that we should look for room some where else because nobody was there.why he dint informed us earlier? If he din see anyone he couldve informed us earlier.my husband got angry and when he told that we wont be leaving since we paid already, some one came from another room went upstair and informed some other person.we could hear that guy saying, " give them a room". Finally after 45 minutes of waiting, we got a room.the room was not clean.there was even a used soap inside the bathroom.since we were super tired of long travel, we had no other way so we stayed there.they were not even sorry.we booked room at this hotel because we thought that it was a nice hotel but we were totally wrong.such an irresponsible and unprofessional behaviour from the staff.dont book room at this hotel.

Very good sadhya and the curry’s are tasty like anything. Very good ambience and it is in two floors Noah in the first floor and the ac at second floor. Very good service. Most important is enough space for car parking. Best wishes to team Omkara

I did not stay there. However took breakfast, lunch and dinner from their restaurant. Food preparation was nice and the service was very friendly and good.

I enjoyed non AC lunch only. One of the curry may be changed to one without tamarind or butter milk. Sambar and aviyal may be changed erissery or koottukary or someone like that. However I enjoyed. Service good. When extras asked it shall be in good condition with charges. Lunch is supplied in leaf will be good, especially in this corona situation or the plates should be steam treated.

Today my family and I had Sadhya at the AC lounge. Not much of crowd.
Food: Taste wise it was way better than most vegetarian restaurants in Calicut. So I would give it a 4/5.
Hygiene: It was definitely clean. The washroom and the WC was well maintained. It did have good ambience. I would rate: 4/5
Cost: This is where it hits downhill. What are they charging Rs 240/ per person- A sadhya; like Kerala's most staple cuisine? Like serious loot. In Kerala, if you are not a 5 star restaurant, you cant charge that big an amount unless Chef Suresh Pillai is coming and cooking for you! Rating: 0/5. If I was the owner I would have charged max Rs 150 for the platter that we had. Worst is no second servings! Endhina pinne sadhya kazhikyunne?
Other Remarks: 1 scoop of Icecream was Rs 70/. Sadly, it had ice crystals in it so not sure how old it was! Also, I haven't seen their menu! So convenient way to lead customers to order and then be surprised by the bill.

Visited the restaurant for an early dinner. Really happy to find good options for Vegetarians. They have many Mushroom and Paneer varities. Definitely a go to place for Vegetarian food lovers. I think their Dosa varities are popular as I noticed a majority of the guests ordered that. We were a group of 4 and ordered 2 Ghee Roasts, a Mushroom Masala Dosa and Paneer Kothu Parotta. The staff were also friendly. Less parking is the only issue faced.

We didn't stay there. We had food yesterday (26 th MAY) night! It was THE WORST EXPERIENCE! There was just one waiter for the whole crowd. We got delayed for hours
The food was HOPELESS. They served a SAMBAR VAFA in which the vada was months old, we felt
THE CHARGES WERE TOO HUGE. Never again.

I ordered masala dosa based on today' s spl menu list placard outside the restaurant. But they said it is not available and offered me paneer dosa. It was ok but expensive at about 170 rs considering it is not even a ac restaurant. No variety or choice for customer due to limited items in menu.

Today I placed an order for Sadhya - package where they give the quantity for 5 people and amount paid is Rs. 1832. To be Frank no hotels can give this less quantity and especially in a place like Calicut. All side dishes they have given the quantity is by taking 1 spoon. I placed the order by seeing the reviews. The quantity would be fine if 5 kids are eating (aged between 8-10) but not for big people. We do not have the option to taste the side dishes twice because of the quantity. If there is an option to give negative mark without a doubt I will do it and will never recommend this place. Also I ordered at this place because hotels like may flower, asma, Calicut towers was not taking orders today. Last week for a small funtion I bought regular veg meals from may flower and for that we even got more quaniity costing around Rs. 130. Also to add first time i had sadhya without അവിയൽ. Too bad. Tastes was adjustable. Not at all a
Place to recommend and if you continue this service hotel would be closed soon because at Calicut we have n number of options.

Do not but their sadhyas during festivals like Vishu, Onam. They do not serve there, only take aways, very less quantity, main items like avial missing more over exorbitant charges. They charged 1832 for 5 sadhya pack (do not have lesser packs). And the food was not sufficient for even 3 people. A daring example was varuthupperi, they kept exactly 10 small pieces for 5 people, lol.the sadhya was okay for 100 or at a premium of 150 per pack, but they made good profit out of 366 per sadhya. Long live such crooked people at a place like Kozhikode.

One pack sambar, one cabage upperi, one pack rasam and they charged 80₹for parcel. കമ്പിപ്പാര എടുത്ത് കക്കാൻ പോകുന്നതട നല്ലത് നിനക്കൊക്കെ. 20രൂപയുടെ ഫുഡ് കൊടുക്കുന്ന ജനകീയ ഹോട്ടലിൻ്റെ മെനു ഇതിലും എത്രയോ അധികം ആണ്.

Most expensive and worst food which i have had in my life in a non ac restaurant.
Single wheat porota cost 22rs
Single tea cost 14.50rs

Went there for dinner along with family. Decent neat and clean restaurant. A neat vegetarian restaurant. Had butter Naan, malai kofta, Gobi manuchurian dry, pani puri. Pani puri taste was not upto our expectations. All other dishes were good. Needs improvement in car parking. Not enough car parking space for such a hotel and restaurant having huge seating capacity.

Good vegetarian restaurant. Paneer dosa, omlet dosa (veg) mashroom dosa gopi dosa available.they may try to improve the taste of sambar and chutney

Expensive but worth it. Vishu sadya was so good. It even had mambazha pulisseri. I loved the ambience.ac and non AC available.professional approach.

Had one of the best sadhyas in town. Every single dish was delicious.

First time I went to this restaurant during corona time. It was simple meals I had. That was good

Working in the busy times of covid 19, made me the decision to order VISHU SADHYA from your hotel. As the delivery deal was that the sadya should be pre booked (paid full amount in advance via gpay on April 13) & the delivery will be made before 1: 00 pm on April 14. It is now 3: 10 pm. Still not received any update on the so called VISHU SADHYA & the number in which gpay has done & used to contact is now switched off. Dont know what kind of irresponsible people are managing this.

I had visited this restaurant last week with family. Being a pure vegetarian, I always prefer pure veg restaurants only. I was always searching for the right place in calicut and finally got this one - Omkara. Superb ambience, great service, quality and tasty food. Above all, normal pricing. They charge Rs 50 only for veg meal in the afternoon when local street shops charging around Rs 75 in calicut. Overall a great experience, would really visit again and strongly recommend. Their parotta is excellent- the best available in Calicut

Good ambience. Lunch (Sadhya) was really good. A place to visit more frequently when in Calicut. A place where vegetarians can really enjoy.

Good vegetarian restaurant, the service is normal. Food is very tasty. Cash counter is very poor, billing take more times. No tissue paper. Toothpicks are keeping in cash box.

One of the premium veg restaurant which is situated in the heart of the city. Easy access from railway station and ksrtc and city bus stand.
Pleasing services. All the waiters and the attenders do serve with a smile on the face except the person who stand in the cash counter.

(For attention of resturant owner too) I visited the restaurant on 09 Mar 2020 with my family for dinner. Ambiance of the restaurant is good. But they seriously need to improve their hospitality front. The waiters and staff really need to do a better job with training. Food served after 1hr 30 mins of taking our order. Another family who sitted adjacent to our table went off without dinner delay in supply of food. Food served to my family was not hot and incomplete without side dishes. No spoon and fork was placed. No napkin pappers placed on table. No manager was available in the hotel when i asked for solving my problems.staff need proper monitering through a experienced mngr. I also came out from restaurant with my family members without having my dinner. Poor state of affair and bad experience. If the trend continues no customer will visit second time.

Nice veg restaurant. But food standard little bad compared to 6 months ago. Management Needs to keep a watch on it.

This rating is for the non-ac resturant they have in 1st floor. Poor hospitality & confusion even in cash counter.

Hotel in palayam road, 1 st floor. With parking for both 2 wheeler and 4 wheel, lift facility available. They serve meal @Rs50 (I have visited on 5th jan 2020) with 3-5 Curry's and Payasam.

Table was not cleared for long time when we are visited majority of the table r not cleared no one is bothering&slow service also.

Ambience was good. Tried their Vattayappam & veg cutlet. Vattayappam was good. Waiters were not too bad either. But the security was horrible, annoying and a creep. Car park was minimal (4 cars).

Had a very bad experience, food served after 1.5 hour. Taste wise not that great. Ambience is good (Ac section). Service needs to be improved. Saw two families walking out after getting irritated with the service

Good vegetarian meals. You will get variety of veg dishes. Good for dining with your family. It may be a little crowded at lunch time. But it is worth waiting. Value for Money. Parking is not sufficient.

Food is average, location good, limited parking, ambiance good, cleanliness ok, too much waiting for the food.

A good veg eatery at Kozhikode. Good hospitality and delicious food. The price is bit high, but considering the ambience and quality, it is not a deal spoiler.

Food is mediocre. Ginger mushroom - ginger paste was raw. Chapati too dry, similar to what you would get from a cheap hotel. Paneer moily was just about ok. And they took 30 mins to come up with this fare.

The service lacked lustre and very slow. Staff were in a hurry to close the outlet at 09.50PM while they state that the restaurant is open till 10.30PM.

Very good food. Very good ambience. North indian thali is really good with soup as starter. But didn't had good experience during onam days when there was a rush and and we were told we wont get parcels as they are too busy and that we can have usual table service.

Restaurant is at the first floor. I didn't take any room at this hotel, so I don't know the atmosphere and the condition of the room. Parking is there for a limited number of vehicles. Very cool atmosphere to have food. Satisfactory place to have a vegetarian meal. Card and cash payment is accepted.

Tasty food but mediocre service. The AC section in the 2nd floor is a lil cramped for space. The filter coffee served at the restaurant is pathetic. It's just milk with a drop of whatever tht they call decoction! And its served in a 250ml (maybe bigger) cup! Chef to note tht filter coffee is best served in small quantities! Not expecting the instant coffee to be any better. And parking is a big cause for concern. The washroom is thankfully extremely neat and clean, which is a huge positive.

Today 5 October 2019 we reached at 8: 45 pm and sat and ordered but food came after 40 mins which is too long waiting. Not all tables were full. Perhaps they don't have enough staff on cooking or they have a small kitchen since most of people were getting impatient. They really need to improve their service time.

Very Bad Experience. North Indian Thali was very bad. Sweet dish (gulab jamun) was served old. Service was very poor.

When you think about Calicut, the first thing that comes into your mind is fantastic food. But when it comes to vegetarian, that's a topic which one has to rethink.rethink, rethink. But let me clarify. Never again. Hotel Omkara (veg) is a quick fix for veggies. They serve pure vegetarian dishes. Here you can taste almost all the excellent vegetarian dishes. That, too, in class and hygiene (as experienced). I recommend you to try. It will be a pleasant experience with family and friends when you opt to switch on to a vegetarian diet. Visit the A. C section on the second floor.

The food is good. But they seriously need to improve their hospitality front. The waiters and staff really need to do a better job. And they seem really inexperienced too. Hope the restaurant can take care of this and maybe, we might have a paragon for veg dishes!

Overall all good but bit pricy and we didn't like mushroom masala.it was having hell lot of oil n masala.

The first time I has been to this place, I had had north indian thali. It was grand and good in taste. This restaurant also offers variety of dosas. Good ambience. Good option for vegetarians overall.

Ghee masala dosa was good. Poori was full of oil. Food is good but service is poor, during rush they get confused with orders and affects food quality as well.

Do not expect anything near the legendary and humble Vinayaka.service is not so great.warmth of old hands at Vinayaka is missing. If it takes one hour for Dosas to be served for a Tag of Premium you are at the right place.all in all AVOIDABLE

It is a newly opened restaurant near alukkas jewellers.
Even though it is a newly opened one, there was a huge rush.
People was waiting for the seats.
The quality of the food is really good.
Because of the rush, the food ordered is served late.
And the staffs get confused which bill goes to which table because of the rush.

Bought one mushroom butter masala and chilly baby corn. Both tasted exactly the same with lots of sauce. One dish is north indian and another chinese. Expecting improvement.

The service of serving staff and food is good but the place is dirty. Went to the non-AC restaurant in the morning and guess what, all the tables were filthy. The tables had something like dust and lizard poop on it and when I reported it, they where like "Really! ". Despite being the 1st customer of the day, the handwash basin contained food residue from previous days customer. Didn't feel the "Premium Veg" or uptown feel in the restaurant, better off eating breakfast from roadside fast food walas.

The food tasted fine. Although salt wasn't sufficient in any of the dishes served. Well maintained restaurant, ambience was good.
