One of the most nostalgic eatery for the locals. Knows as the annachi puri kada. Three puris, three subjis, one pappadam, onion and pickle for just 65 rupees! Tea is delicious and is 15 rupees. That’s it, the shop serves nothing more, yet it’s sold out most days.

Subjis are potato curry, moong dal curry and a green chilli subji.pickle is made of gooseberry.

Poori is fried in palm oil, yet is tasty.good service, very attentive staff.

The shop operates from 3: 30 to 8: 30… but was sold out by 7: 45 last time we visited, so plan accordingly.

Only one item since the beginning. But customers are plenty. Many times you have to wait to get a seat.

This is a very small shop serving only poori & masala tea. The shop is inside a very narrow road and difficult to easily find if you miss the small board. There is no parking except for general road side paid parking in an adjacent area. There is usually a waiting time due to the small size of shop and the usual rush. Parcel availability is quicker so it is advised to take a parcel. The poori taste is normal. The associated curries (a dal, a sweet curry, a masala and pickle) are not very spicy. The combination gives a unique taste and is liked by many. It is worth a try at least once to taste the cuisine. The shop is generally open on all days from 3.30pm to around late evening.

The best poori in tvm with an amazing matching masala tea. The space is small only 3 tables in the restaurant, so might need to wait a bit.

With the hot and crispy tasty poori and its special curries, pickle and pappad alongwith a cup of masala tea this age old small hotel is very favourite to trivandrum natives years after years. Tourist should not miss this small hotel. Limited seats and spaces. Better take parcel. Street parking only. Located in a narrow lane adjacent to Parthas textiles at east fort under the flyover. No words to explain how happy I am with the food and service provided by this hotel. It is an old hotel (my 65year old father shared his experience going there when he was in 10 th standard with his dad.)

This is a small, not much spacious hotel. But the taste of the food provided by them will surely make u feel go there a 100 more times.

A 60 year old excellent vegetarian hotel in the heart of trivandrum city about 2KM from Paanabha temple. The menu has only Poori and gujarati sabzi. The unique taste of gujarati food is the USP since last 60 years! The dining area has reduced a lot over the years and has become very small presently. But the taste still remains same.
The hotel opens at 3.30 pm and closes at 07.30pm or whenever the food gets over.and it does on most of the days by around 7pm.the waiters are only 2 but very courteous and service is fast. The place can seat only about 10 people. When we visited at 03.40 pm it was full.
A must place to visit while in trivandrum city. The cost per plate of poori is minimal by trivandrum standards.

The only problem is that sometimes you will have to wait sometimes for a table. You can also prefer take away. Car parking will be very difficult in this area.

Poori and usual curry was very tasty. But the pickle was bland.felt like they poured water to maintain the quantity. After waiting 30 mnts for parcel and this kind of food being served is not acceptable.

It was just superb. I have been wanting to try this place out for a long time. And when I finally did it was worth the wait. The food is very tasty like it's perfect with very affordable price. The seating arrangements are very few so had to wait some time. Lot of people just take parcels. So if you can wait the time it's worth the wait. Must try spot. I have been thinking about the food there even 2 days after having food, For sure will go again

A nice experience. The poori and pappad was superb. But the currys seemed to be sweet. Which all may not like. But a nice one to try.

It's a feeling that can't be described by words. I had their poori after around 10 years while back in Trivandrum. The taste was exactly the same. Price for a plate is now 60Rs. There was a small wait before getting a table. Definitely must try this place for an unique taste.

The shop was really small and crowded but the food they serve will surely fill your mind and will make you come again. Its a really old traditional hotel with years of service.

I love the taste!
But had a very bad incident last week.
Me along with wife went there, and had 2 sets happily.
(set includes papadam, onion, 3 poori, pickle or something) One set charged 60 INR which is reasonable.we asked for an extra poori, and they purposefully put three poories in to my plate in a manner we cant return, so i give one to my wife and asked for bill.its costed like-
3 set* 60=180
in the sense 20 rupees for extra poori.they know, they can skip papad, onion, curry, pickles and charge full cost.this is cheating!

I don't know why people are giving so much positive reviews for their 'pooris and curries'; so over rated.

From my personal experience the food and ambiance is too below average. Nothing special about the poori or their curries; I've never felt them tasty. I felt like sitting in an old model toilet in a hospital as the wall tiles and floor tiles resembles that, and I felt a bit unhygienic also. There is no good parking facility or seating facility also.

I would never ever recommend my dear ones to visit there unless and until they have very less money in your pocket.

They serve nothing else but poori and sabji and still attract customers day in and day out.

As on date its been in Trivandrum for approx 58 years. Started by the current owners father. There is only 1 food served here and that is poori with a variety of curry, pappad, pickle and sliced onions in a true North Indian cooking style and taste. Finding this restaurant is a task as it ls inside a small lane. The tea served here is also with Ginger and other masala. The seating capacity is limited and is normally packed on weekends. Initially the cooks were from north India. Eventhough the cooks are from the locality, the taste has remained the same due to knowledge of the current owner. MUST VISIT

This is one of the oldest vegetarian hotel in Trivandrum city. It's located quite near to Parthas, Trivandrum and is at a walkable distance from famous Pazhavangadi Ganapathi temple. Hotel is not visible from main trffic and there is no parking place available in front of the hotel. You've to park your car sightly away on the sides of the main road. It's a small hotel with very low seating capacity. The only items served is Poori and Masala tea. The hotel can at a time accomodate 20 people. You may have to patiently wait if it is crowded. The cost of the food is also reasonable. Everyday, hotel starts at 4 pm and closes at 8 pm. The poori plate would be served with 3 poori's, one papad, one small cup of potato masala, one small cup of green daal curry, onion salad and Pickle. Poori's as expected are not much crispy and curries are not that extend tasty. I went with lot of expectations after hearing about this hotel and after going through various reviews. I felt the taste is just an average. Staffs are courteous and place is kept clean. The left over plates are immediately removed and mopped well. Masala tea was not very great as expected. Take aways/parcels are possible. You may get better Poori and Potato curry in other good vegetarian hotels like Aaryaas or Arul jyothi but given that this is the oldest one in Trivandrum city, it's better to try out the Poori thali plate here and experience the taste.

Delicious. Regular visitor since childhood. I remember the 'nalukettu' building. Lunch was also available then. Now very limited space and have to hurry cannot enjoy as before.

A simple but congested a bit. There is no menu you can have 4 poori, potato masala, chilli Curry, onions, green gram curry and one pappadam for 55rs.
Food is delicious though the poories are not crispy. It's a family place and essentially a vegetarian one.

This is one of its kind hotel situated near MG road next to parthas in Trivandrum. Thali price is 45₹ which consists of 3 Poori with 3 types of curries, onion salad, pickle and papadam. Chai is available on demand. Service is quite fast because most of the people coming here doesn't get satisfaction with 3 poories. Most of the customers have extra poori. It opens at 4pm and remains open till late evening. Mostly it's crowded so you will have to wait for your turn untill some tables are empty. You maybe sharing your table with strangers but that won't be a problem here. Staff is polite and are quick servers. Most of their customers are their regular visitors. I like to go atleast once a month. A must visit for every keralite.

It's no more the original Saurashtra Hotel it was on the 1980s. Now they are serving the normal roadside poories. So big and oily. Those days the poories were palm size and the sides were superb. Now the sides is just a dal. Damn it. I am just shutting it out of my system. I went today after 30 years. Commercialized. People standing in q for hors for this.well. Shhhh. Ot

It's a special restaurant, serves only poori set since long and open only by 4 PM. Very small setup limited seating not much ambience but poori and curries are very tasty.

A small restaurant in Pazhavangadi, Thiruvananthapuram situated in the Powerhouse road, famous for Poori with curries. No other dishes are served here. Tea is available.
Don't get misled by the name, it has no relation whatsoever with Saurashtra or Gujarat other than the fact that the restaurant was started many decades back by Gujarati migrants.
The restaurant is situated in a small alley near Duron tailors, a little bit difficult to notice from the street. There is no parking space except for a few two wheelers.
Service is not worth any comment. Cleanliness is average.

Poori has a little different good taste compared to other vegetarian restaurants. The curries are unique to this place. They all have a tinge of sweetness and sourness, although each has its own unique taste.

Food is great but the place is old. Staff and owner are not friendly. I don't know the reason but they are always sad. Serious renovations are required immediately.
