Ordered chicken cutlets and filter coffe. Coffe was good. Couldnt find any chicken from chicken cutlet. I was eager to eat those famous cutlet thinking it will be same like older days. It was very disappointing now they don't have that nostalgic taste. Non veg cutlets filled with potato we don't feel any meat taste at all. Tried from different coffee house branches all the same.
I know that there is no benefit in putting a review, the food is not as it seems, no one should buy masala dosa, it should be added as oil fried masala dosa. If you squeeze it, you will see that it is terrible oil. The method of eating and leaving will never go up again
We took a table in the families section, the person who served us was very rude, tables were not clean, told cutlets finished but he served it to other tables and on questioning it was served to us too. Won't recommend for families
Worst experience. Cz. I got a hair from food. The waiter take the hair from the food using his hand. And return back and give the food. How can I eat it. I canceled that order
The place has an extensive menu with eggs, toast, bread, butter and the usual South Indian food (Dosa, Parottas, Vadas) for bfast but they only serve Dosas, Vadas and Cutlets. The management should take the unavailable items off the list.
I used to visit here. Masala dosa and coffe it's really good. But my bed is cutlet any cutlet is really tasty. Space enough space for everyone. You can hangout for a long time. This restaurant have not a cost ambiance but style. The staff work systematically. They still where the uniforms with the long cap. Clean and neet. I love this place.
Very poor. Especially covid-19, the staff are unclean and they touch mask regularly, not sure if they wash hands. The food is carried not in food plate but keeping on top of other plate, so unclean. The veg meals not so good.
It's at Mullackal the busiest place of Alappuzha town, and located at the first floor of the building.there is a parking space is available by the side of the coffee house it's ambience is good, and as all know available all branded items of Indian Coffee house. We have taken the cutlet and tea as the evening's snacks and was fine.the ambience good, calm and the service is also very good.
First time visit to this place. The usual ambience & style you expect in an Indian Coffee House restaurant. Spacious enough and quite a good number of seating available, they also have a separate family section. Fast service and courteous waiters. Food is good as usual. We tried chicken biriyani however felt chicken was chewy. Also chicken fry was quite pricey - 2 medium sized square pieces priced at Rs. 100 (not sure if this is decent pricing). Apart from this no other concerns and happy with the dining experience. Hope they get enough business to start an AC section as well - Kerala summers are notoriously hot.
Order to parcel delivery time on Sunday AM: Arrival: 9: 30 Order Placed: 9: 34 Order received: 9: 47
Parcel was clean and nearly packed in oil paper & foil covere, with more than sufficient quantity of Coconut Chutney & Sambar but feel the chutneys taste better when eating in the hotel. I took a takeaway order but many were found to be eating there too.
About and some history:
Indian Coffee House or ICH as popularity known is a Cooperative Hotel Chain that is eched into the culinary lifeblood of Kerala.
It's the only eatery in Kerala where you can find Beetroot as a stuffing in Masala Dosa, Cutlets and in salads. My maternal uncle loved the Coffee House Dosas dunked in delicious coconut chutney and we were treated everytime he was in town.
Some Nostalgia:
I also fondly remember the Rose Milk which was a rare treat at Kottayam ICH amidst our journies to my father's hometown. Kottayam was the transit point on our journey to my grandparents house, where we alighted from the boat and boarded moved from the line boat a KSRTC Bus when we reached Kottayam on.
Back to present we visited Coffee House in Mullaykkal At Alappuzha. The premises are new and even though oldies like me miss the nostalgia of the original building, the new location is more roomy, open and better suited to Post covid dining.
Its spartan but spaceous. General Seating: 17 Tables 16@4pax 1@2 pax There is a family section as well. Occupancy was about 40% on a Sunday Morning 9 AM.
We ordered takeaway and order to delivery time was around 20 minutes. There were already about 5 people in queue awaiting their orders. ICH is not on Swiggy, Zomato but you can place orders on phone and pay once there.
Nice! But i prefer them to atlest reduce the size of dosha (masala dosha) or rather serve in a bigger plate.the dosha always touch the table while serving.
OK. Once at about 2 PM, asked for vegetable biriyani. They served rice which looked like ghee rice with a few pieces of carrot. When I objected the waiter offered to take it back and give something else. Only other vegetarian food available was dosa and vada. I then had to have the regular standard Indian Coffee House Masala Dosa.
The cafe offers lengthy menu. The quick munches are good but the main dishes like the chilly chicken, briyani etc aren't really great. The service is really great and prices are lot cheaper for what they offer.
Clean and well maintained hotel. The quality of the food is not up to the mark of INDIAN COFFEE HOUSE. The meals served didn't have any good curries. But the lemon juice was wonderful.
I went there for lunch and to my utter disbelief, there was no meals offered on that day. Only biriyani, chappati, porotta, dosa etc. Had to manage with Chappattis that were not very good.
In general, the Prestigious Working Class organistion "Indian Coffee House", of late is declining on its cleanliness upkeep and service in many branches! I am an ardent customer of this ICH since 1959. Have been closely watching the developments and fluctuations all these years and hence this observation.
The autgentic Indian coffe house cutlet and coffee is nostalgic to any Keralite, They still treasure the same delicasy and service even after somany years. ️
Mutton cutlets with their special sauce are just awesome. Located in the mullakkal street near Bhima Jewellers (now in its renovation work). Its now in the first floor of a building.
Good food with good customer care services but the parking facilitiesis poor and there are many different characters of food and pretty good food good and also there is one problem is that there is no toilet facilities for the ladies and customer care and if you think asi is thatwe can buy many magazines and weeklies newspapers extract from there under seating capacity is also good as compared to other hotel and it is so near to Alappuzha KSRTC bus stand
I think Indian Coffee house is the only place which serve Bombay Toast, Scrambled Egg (definitely not Anda Burji) and Poached Egg. If you haven't tried these items, you SHOULD! I visit this place almost everyday and have any of the above said items with a Lemon tea.
Of course there are more items. The Signature Dish of Indian Coffees house is Masala Dosa with red stuffing, then beef biriyani and more.
Quality - Average (Plates, Cups and Saucers are getting old and I think they should be replaced) Staff - They are just Awesome Regarding price - Reasonable
Its decent restaurant. Parking is a bit issue there. It is very economical and cleanliness is okey.i reckon they serve one of the best coffees in Alappuzha with reasonable price, Service and ambience is not that much great.
The food was good. As it is close to the boat jetty, there are lot of customers.and the price is also quite reasonable. One can enjoy good Kerala cuisine here.
It will take some time to get food here so who don't have time don't enter here.
Same like all Indian coffee house in all items you will get reddish beetroot.
Curry for poori masala is reddish beetroot gravy. If you visiting first time just check the door position otherwise you will be confused when you leaving.
