Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary

We visited here and booked a boat ride at 11 am, it was too sunny and hot. I suggest morning or evening for boat ride. It was a nice experience. Nice mangrove forest.

Bird sanctuary and boat safari was amazing. I have visited recently 1 hour boating relaxing ur mind. Suitable for family and friends.

A calm and quiet place to visit. At the site office register your name and details then we can board a boat. Boat drivers are highly skilled and informative.we will have a nice trip along the mangrove forest. Nice experience

It's almost 1hr from Kozhikode town. It's a place where lots of birds visit from different places. Also there's a beautiful beach. Best place to spend time with friends and family

Must visit if you are in calicut. Beautiful river and boat riding. It is only 400 rs per person and can experience mangroves aswell and get to see different types of birds if you are lucky.

One of the best eco tourism spot in Kozhikode district. Fresh green mangrove forest and wide variety of birds are more attractive.

For 1 hour they are charging 800rs per 8 members. They will bring you to the Kandal jungle and you can watch different kinds of birds here. The service was good and the area also looks good.

It's a good place to hangout with family, they have packages like seafood+2hr boating at 750per head, as we wr late we took 1hr boating only (at rs. 800 for boat). Mangrove forest and birds view are the high lights. Prebook and go that's a good option so that they may suggest timings.

Located right behind kadalundi railway station, this ecotourism place provides nice option to spend time with your family. You can hire boat on hourly basis and they will take you through the river and various mangrove forest in the vicinity. They will also take you to near the bridge where the river and sea meets. During season lots of migratory birds also can be spotted. I was charged Rs 800 for sn hour in a row boat which has a capacity to carry 6-8 people. There is pay and park space available near the spot.

If u are looking for a Boating u have good option here. Nice place but not a must visit one

If you want to attain peace of mind and refresh your thoughts it's one among the apt place you could choose. There is boating in between the mangroves. It is very silent place to spend your weekends.

Even though this is not a well defined place for birds, seasonal birds find its paths and reach here often.

The Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, 19 km away from Kozhikode, is the dwelling of more than a hundred species of native birds and over 60 species of migratory birds. It is situated in Malappuram district. The sanctuary extends over a cluster of islands in a scenic area surrounded by hillocks where the Kadalundi river flows into the Arabian Sea.

Rambling over an area of 3 sq km, this fertile area engulfed by rich hillocks provide an excellent view of the mouth of the River Kadalundi and the sea. Various migratory birds, including whimbrels, herons, sandpipers, gulls etc, can be seen between the months of November and April. If you are interested in spending time with a colourful variety of birds, make your trip between the months of December and April. In addition to a wide range of bird species, the sanctuary is also home to various fishes, crabs and mussels. The bird sanctuary and the surrounding mangrove forests would soothe the minds of weary travellers.

Very poor. No birds but saw otter and jelly fishes. Poor road and other infrastructures. Not worth it.

Expensive for boat journey. ₹ 800/- for one hour is too much for common people. You must be lucky enough to enjoy the presence of Birds. Not much place to sit around the park.

It was a beautiful experience to go into the mangroves. A fun experience. Though finding some birds depends on their moods!

We found black duck, kingfishers on the way.

The only community reserve in Kerala. It's a mangrove treasure trove and the boating arranged in sanctuary is a must experience. Early morning hours or evening just before sun set is idle time to catch a glimpse of rich varieties of fauna along with an silent idyllic cruise through the boat. The train pasing my infamous for a forgetable tragedy decades back. Add more depth to the canvass.

This is a very beautiful place in calicut district.here we can see the kadalundi river merge with Arabian see. Also one hour bottling gives us a different feel.different types of birds are the main specialty of this kadalundi birds sanctuary.

"അസ്തമിക്കാൻ പോകുന്ന സൂര്യനെയും ചൂളം വിളിച്ച് പായുന്ന തീവണ്ടികളെയും വിരുന്ന് വന്ന ദേശാടന പക്ഷികളെയും സാക്ഷികളാക്കി കടലുണ്ടി പുഴയുടെ വശ്യമനോഹാരിതയിൽ മനം നിറഞ്ഞ് ഒരു തോണിയാത്ര" വ്യത്യസ്തമായ ഇവന്റ് കൾ വെച്ച് എന്നും ശ്രദ്ധ നേടിയിരുന്ന #മലപ്പുറം_സഞ്ചാരി_യൂണിറ്റ് നടത്തുന്ന 17th പ്രോഗ്രാം കണ്ടൽ വനങ്ങളെ കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞും, പക്ഷികളെ നിരീക്ഷിച്ചും, തുരുത്തുകളെ വീക്ഷിച്ചും, തോണികളിൽ സഞ്ചരിച്ചും, കപ്പയും മുരുവും കഴിച്ചും കൂടാതെ #Hamidali_Vazhakkad sir ന്റെയും പൂമ്പാറ്റ നിരീക്ഷകൻ #ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ_വളപ്പിൽ സാറിന്റെയും ക്ലാസുകൾ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചും വീണ്ടും വ്യത്യസ്തമായി. കോഴിക്കോട് നിന്നും 20 km മാറി മലപ്പുറം ജില്ലയിൽ 300 ഏക്കർ വിസ്തൃതി യിൽ വ്യാപിച്ച് കിടക്കുന്ന അനവദ്യ സുന്ദരമായ നദീ തടവും, കണ്ടൽ കാടുകളും, അതിനിടയിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന കൈവഴികളും, ദേശാടന പക്ഷികൾ കുടിയേറുന്ന പക്ഷി സങ്കേതവും അടുത്തറിയുന്നതിന് വേണ്ടി സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച ഇവന്റ് 09-04-17 ന് വൈകുന്നേരം 3.30 ന് തന്നെ 15 പേർക്ക് കയറാവുന്ന 3 തോണികളിൽ ആയി ആരംഭിച്ചു. യാത്രയുടെ തുടക്കത്തിൽ ഹമീദലി സാറിന്റെ ക്ലാസ് കേട്ട് കണ്ടൽ കാടുകളെ കുറിച്ചും ഇതിലൂടെ ഒഴുകുന്ന പുഴയെ കുറിച്ചും ചെറിയ അറിവ് ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. അത് കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ കാണുന്ന ഓരോ കാഴ്ചകളും എന്തോ ഞങ്ങളെ പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ചുറ്റുപാടും പുഴകളാൽ ചുറ്റപ്പെട്ട് കിടക്കുന്ന ചെറിയ തുരുത്തുകൾ ആണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ മറ്റൊരു ആകർഷണം. ബാലാ തുരുത്തി, ചെറുതുരുത്ത്, സി. പി. ചുരുത്ത് എന്നിവയൊക്കെ ഇതിൽ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടവയാണ്. ഇവിടെ ജീവിക്കുന്നവരുടെ വരുമാന മാർഗം കക്ക കൃഷി, മുരു കൃഷി തുടങ്ങിയവ ആണ്. വലിയ തോതിൽ കാൽസ്യം അടങ്ങിയിട്ടുള്ള മുരു ഭക്ഷ്യയോഗ്യം ആക്കാൻ വളരെ പ്രയാസം ആണ്. ഇതിന്റെ പുറം തോടുകൾ വളരെ മൂർച്ചയേറിയത് ആണ് എന്നതാണ് പ്രധാന കാരണം. ഇതിന് 1 കിലോ ക്ക് 300 രൂപ ആണ് എന്നാണ് ഞാൻ ചോദിച്ചപ്പോൾ തോണിക്കാരൻ പറഞ്ഞത്. 135 ഓളം ദേശാടന പക്ഷികൾ വന്നിരുന്ന ഈ പക്ഷി സങ്കേതത്തിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ വളരെ കുറച്ച് പക്ഷികളെ വരാറുള്ളൂ. കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനവും വംശ നാശവും കൊണ്ട് ഈ വർഷവും പക്ഷികൾ വളരെ കുറവാണ്. തോണിയാത്രയിൽ ഏറ്റവും ഹരം പകരുന്നത് പാലങ്ങൾക്ക് അടിയിലൂടെ ഉള്ള യാത്രകൾ ആണ്. റയിൽവേ പാലത്തിന്റെ താഴെ എത്തുമ്പോൾ മിനിട്ടുകൾ വ്യത്യാസത്തിൽ തീവണ്ടികൾ പോകുന്നത് കൊണ്ട് ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു തീവണ്ടി പോകുന്നത് ശരിക്കും അടുത്തറിയാം. മാത്രമല്ല, ബാലാത്തുരുത്തിലെ നടപ്പാലത്തിന്റെയും, പൈപ്പ് പാലത്തിന്റേയും താഴേകൂടി യാത്ര ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ അത് നല്ല അനുഭവങ്ങൾ സമ്മാനിക്കുന്നു. തോണിയിൽ നിന്ന് തന്നെ കഴിച്ച കപ്പയും മുരു കറിയും ചെമ്മീൻ ചമ്മന്തിയും നാവിൽ വെള്ളം നിറക്കുമ്പോൾ വഞ്ചിപ്പാട്ടുകൾ കൊണ്ടും നാടൻ പാട്ടുകൾ കൊണ്ടും ആർത്തുല്ലസിച്ച ആ സായംസന്ധ്യകളെ വീണ്ടും ഓർത്തെടുക്കുവാൻ മനസ്സ് വെമ്പൽ കൊള്ളുന്നുണ്ട്. 6.30 ന് അവസാനിച്ച തോണിയാത്രക്കും പക്ഷി നിരീക്ഷണ ത്തിനും ശേഷം ഒരിക്കൽ കൂടി ഹമീദലി സാറിന്റെ ക്ലാസ് കേൾക്കാൻ ഭാഗ്യം ലഭിച്ചു. കൂടാതെ സിവിൽ എഞ്ചിനീയർ ആയിരുന്ന, ഇപ്പോൾ പൂമ്പാറ്റ നിരീക്ഷകനും സഞ്ചാരി യും ആയ ബാലകൃഷ്ൻ വളപ്പിൽ സാറിന്റെയും മനോഹര ക്ലാസും, കൂടുതൽ ചരിത്രങ്ങളും, ഒരു സഞ്ചാരി എങ്ങനെ ആയിരിക്കണം എന്നതിന്റെ പൂർണ വിവരണവും ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് പറഞ്ഞുതന്നു തൃശൂരിൽ നിന്നും കണ്ണൂരിൽ നിന്നും കോഴിക്കോട് നിന്നും മലപ്പുറം യൂണിറ്റ് ഇവന്റ് ൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ വന്നവരിൽ എടുത്ത് പറയേണ്ടത് #Anoop_Krishna നെ ആണ്. ഈ ഈവെന്റിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ തൃശൂരിൽ നിന്ന് രാവിലെ വണ്ടി കയറി ആദ്യം തന്നെ ഇവിടെ എത്തുകയും തിരിച്ച് പോകുമ്പോൾ ചരക്ക് ലോറി ക്ക് ലിഫ്റ്റ് ചോദിച്ച് വീട്ടിൽ പോവുകയും ചെയ്ത അനൂപ് തികച്ചും ആത്മസംപൃപ്തി കിയിട്ടിയിട്ടാണ് വീട്ടിൽ എത്തിയത്. പുതിയ സൗഹൃദങ്ങൾക്ക് ജീവൻ നൽകിയും, പഴയ സൗഹൃദങ്ങളെ ഊട്ടിഉറപ്പിച്ചും അടുത്ത ഇവന്റ് ൽ നേരിൽ കാണാം എന്ന പ്രദീക്ഷയുടെ 7.30 ന് തന്നെ എല്ലാവരും യാത്ര തിരിച്ചു. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° Noufal Karat °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

We can't see birds in all months of an year. There is a specific season for arriving birds here. Otherwise we can just sit there and see the kadalundi river. Boating service is available, so we can go for that.

An cool place with awesome scenery.it is really fun to see the sun set from here.and also we can see there numerous of birds flying over there freely.really it's enjoyable to see the birds flying at the time of sunrise and the sunset.

Good atmosphere, nice place but sometimes birds are not much more. But it's ok.other time we can see many of variety birds, and a boating in river. Al over good. Iam not recommended this place, but u can come here and watch this it is very small tourist place no much more

You can feel the nature. Migrating birds are the main attraction but usually birds will come in the month of September to October. Mostly in October. Mangrove forest is the another attraction in this place. Near to bird Sanctuary there is an estuary too.

Government projects doing by private hand boating for one hr 800rs I think this is not genuine there is no food available if you are offline visitor speed boat only using by government officials

Okay place to visit. The boat charges may seem to be expensive if you are just 2-4 of you. They charge 800 bucks. Or wait for for few more visitors to fill 8-12 seats and then they charge 100 per person. I went with high expectations, but was disappointed since I could not spot too many birds. Just saw pelicans. The boat ride was good. Kids will enjoy. The mangroves look good.

Nice place. Had a great family time with kids and mom. Well behaved guide and staff. Locals also good and innocent.better to come in morning or evening if u hate direct sunlight.call them prior if you want to eat fresh fish
