Both shows were very interesting.
The Kallari show should have more ventilation when performing the fire acts. Place was very smoky.

It was great show by artist, it shows Kerala culture and tradition, I suggest to visit this place,

Cheating on ticket booking, while selling they told front seats and while show they gave us last seats.
Very unethical behaviour and rude people.

There are many other Kathakali shows in Thekkedy visit those.

Don’t wish to take the limelight away from the performers since they work really hard and are extraordinary artists. But at the same time beware of the local cab gangs and guides there. They lure you in the pretense of helping you park your car in the premise and then have you park in a very narrow space and even if nothing happens will fight with you saying that you have hit their car parked alongside while parking your car. Everyone present there is in on it. Some people play good cop some bad cop and in the end whatever you pay them everyone shares it. Since all the tourists are coming from other states it could be a pretty horrifying experience in an unknown place.

Whenever we go to Thekkady, this Kalari show will be in our itinerary. It's a one hour program and will keep you awestruck with the performances. Entry fee is 200 is worth every penny for the stunt they perform. Ample car parking area available at site. Go for it!

Must watch for all tourist. Martial artist have put in a lot of effort for this. Also they got the audiences involved for their act which was a great experience. Almost all of the people attending the show were able to take pictures with the artists inside the ring.loved it to the core

Was in Thekaddy last month and watched both Kathakali and Kalaripayatu show, both were well performed.
Kathakali is a classical dance reciting story of Mahabharata and Kalaripayatu is considered worlds oldest martial art.
They have show in evening, to get front row seats it’s suggested to book in advance.
At the end of show they offer to get photographs with the artist with small donations, do donate whatever you can, even small amount like 50 or 100 means lot to the artist.

One must have cultural experience in Kerala. Such a raw talent and hard work. Loved the art in both formats. Kalari and Kathakali. Every second spent there was worth it. Highly Recommended.

Superb performance but underrated, people should promote and encourage this culture more. Highly recommended

Watched Kalari show only. It was good. Artists were very enthusiastic. Showed many forms of fights. In the last performed a few ones with fire circle and roads.

But still it somewhat seemed choreographed. Although that is necessary considering the danger involved as they were not having any gaurds while fighting with swords and yes swords were real only.

Worth watching for one time. They showed most of the moves and yogas practiced for Kalari.

4 stars only for the shows. 0 stars for the management. Traditional shows which will make you happy, wonderful performances. The tickets are 150-200 approx. The main issue with both the shows is the entry and seating arrangements. They just give you seat numbers for the sake of it. Mismanaged entry. I still remember my Kathakali show was half hour late because they sold the same tickets (seat no.) to two families and they were abusing on the stage. And in Kalari show, had to fight with a lady who wanted to sit on my seat because I had a baby and I will not be watching the show the whole time:

Some shows are good some excellent and some boring depends on the person. I would suggest for martial art program.

Awesome programs and you must watch these two shows if you are in Thakeddy as Tourist.

1. Both shows are worth for watching and nice entertainment of 2 hours in evening at Thekkady, kerala.
2. Both shows artists had taken lot of efforts to present this show to audience.
3. I like that they allow audience to participate and take photographs with them at end of show.
4. Please donate some money as per your wish to such promote such programs. I did the same.
5. Government should provide artists all basic facilities and financial support to run such programs which educate people & tourists about kerala culture.

It's breath taking and one of the best part of my Kerala tour. If you guys are in Thekkady please don't don't miss it

It was a pleasure to watch the whole program. Quality time with family. Especially with kids.it was a wonderful experience. The artists were very skilled and humble. Would recommend everyone to visit the place.

Kalaripayattu is a type of traditional Martial Art of Kerala meant for entertainment in Kerala. This again is one of the oldest forms existing in the world which has its origin in south India. Kalaripayattu the mother of all martial arts requires the knack and skill which can be performed only by well trained masters. Crafted in ancient South India drawing inspiration from the raw power and sinuous strength of the majestic animal forms - Lion, Tiger, Elephant, Wild Boar, Snake, and Crocodile. Kalaripayattu laid down the combat code of the Cholas, the Cheras and the Pandyas. Shrouded in deep mystery and mists of secrecy Kalaripayattu was taught by the masters in total isolation, away from prying eye. Kadathanadan Kalari Centre & Navarasa Kathakali in Thekkady is one of the places in Kerala where you can watch Kathakali. Hour-long demonstrations of the exciting Keralan martial art of kalarippayat are staged here every evening. Tickets are available from the box office throughout the day. Even though the theatre only has bare essentials, the show is breathtaking. The music and the lighting into the arena are designed for impact. The narration is thrilling. Excellent and very new experience. Must visit in Thekkady. But on time visit is must and not to miss first few minutes to understand the entire show.

It is an awesome experience! The performance is very spectacular and thrilling.loved the performance. The grandmaster and the other artists are very polite. We got photo-shoot done with the weapons and artists after the show was over. Must watch. Showtime 6-7pm and kathakali 7-8pm.

Great show.will recommend a must visit.a very nice presentation of martial arts. Also, they make the viewers participate in one of their live activity.they also allowed us to photo shoot with their weapons and artists.

A beautiful show put up by these artists. Got to know that this is one of the oldest form of martial arts in mankind and that made it more interesting to see that such honour is also of India to be one of the first in such a field. We watched Kalari with eyes wide open and the final act was also hats off. Loved the choreography of fights.

I feel they deserve more funding and recognition. Both of which they are not receiving optimally as of now.

It was sad to see that while most of the audience paid tips after martial art, no one paid any tip to any kathakali dancers. When I tipped, the manager almost had tears in his eyes: ("He said no one appreciates our art form any more. "

We booked ticket online. Reached in our car at 6pm.it's has good parking. It is small amphitheatre like complex.were you sit in a rectangular pattern.you can get ticket from counter and they will give you seat numbers. The show is really good showing kerala traditional artform for an hour.

Extremely talented boys. Great performance especially Sharanam (not sure if pronouncing correct), the guy with curly thick hair. He did every performance so perfectly and looked so young. This show should never b missed in thekkady.time is 6-7 pm ticket price 200.
