Cafe food was okay.there was a lot of flies which was a very negative point.and be sure to burn your pockets as cost for four came up to whopping 4000 in spite of poor ambience and literally it's a street shop
Cost is slightly on the higher side for the kind of seating they have. Food was well cooked and tasty and we didn't have to wait long for it to arrive.
My favorite place in Fort Kochi / Vypen) I really don't get where these negative reviews are coming from. The staff is always in a great mood and very attentive especially Ashiq. The fresh catch of the day is displayed outside - make your choice and enjoy. The taste and price / value ratio is unbeatable! It took me a few days to find this place (they found me, I almost walked by.). I couldn't believe how good the fish was and at a very fair price! Came back the next day and had the same experience again - and will come back as often as possible.
Just don't order from the menu - ask for recommendations in places like these and you won't be disappointed.
If you’re staying or walking past the Fort Kochi area, then it is impossible to miss this eatery. There are 3 reasons for that. 1) Inviting and colourful decor. 2) Fragrance of freshly cooked seafood. 3) Live fish selection counter.
Kafe D Kochi is an open air restaurant located just 1km from the Fort Kochi beach. The ambience is very chill with some good pop/rock songs adding to the vibe. The best part about this place was the range of items that they offered for both veg and non vegetarians. They not only cover Kerala style food but also international cuisine like Italian.
We tried the mango fish curry and that is something not to miss. We were a bit reluctant initially because we visited in the month of November and weren’t sure about the taste as Mango is a seasonal fruit. But they clarified that they put raw mango in it and we took a very good decision to try it. The tangy flavour of raw mango along with the Kerala spices elevated the dish to the next level. Couple it with rice and you’ll have a cracker of a dish for yourself.
We also tried the veg pizza with some cool minty beverages because of the humid weather.
Nothing to complain about as far as the food is concerned. The only problem was the mosquitoes who were feeding on our legs the whole time, making the dining experience a bit of a struggle (because the restaurant is an open air one).
The portion size of all the dishes can easily serve 1.5 people. We ordered 2 fish gravies for 3 people but if you’re moderately hungry, then 1 portion will suffice.
Cost was hefty. A small fish costed 400 rs approx.i ate the tawa fry and the fish i ate costs 50 rs outside on max when i enquired near fish market. I felt soo cheated they were asking me to come in on road and i went in and saw the hefty charged fish. Better avoid eating on the island and eat in the main city cuz it's all same food but at different costs.
This Kafe D Kochi, in the Forte Kochi is had to miss and its amidst 2 other adjacent Cafes, and this place is just on the footpath. And has ample space to accommodate say approx 30 ppl if its tables are fully occupied.
They have the spread of around 7 varieties of fishes that you can choose from, this is beyond the usual prawns that they have.and Crabs are on its menu, but, there availability is subjected!
Once you select the fish, they prepare the fish in two styles! One vertical portion as Tawa fry and the other half basis your choice.
This place offers u a variety of food and beverages.but yet the fish is the one not to be ignored!
Bad food. Bad service. Took an hour to get the food we ordered. Worst biriyani. Even the employees don't know any details about the food. Water is not free
It is just located in the Fort Kochi area opposite Burger Street. It's an open space restaurant with a few more in the same line. The afternoons are also busy here. I dropped in here for dinner. Parking space available. They have some fresh catch but i ordered from the menu card. I ordered Cheese Omelette which was average. Crab soup, it was really nice. Very flavoured with perfect ingredients. Served hot. Next is Chilli chicken, it was good too. Fresh and tender chicken pieces. The gravy was also cooked well. Alongwith this had Chicken Fried rice. It was average. Overall a good experience with hot food.
Big cheaters. They’ll come on the street and beg you to get in; and then the drama starts. They’ll serve some crazy fish and charge you like gold. Please avoid this cheaters.
