The food was both overpriced, and tasteless. Furthermore, the portions were too small and not worth the price. Also, the service is average.

Due to the lack of menu cards, the waiter keeps verbally describing the available foods continuously and repeatedly. As mentioned by others, it's important to get the price first. Because there is dynamic pricing for all. What's funny is that even though they give you the total cost, it's rare to receive a detailed bill.

Here, neither the quality nor the experience was worth it. In fact, you're paying for a terrible dining experience that ruined a pleasant meal. Ambience: it's an old house building that has been renovated.

There should be more space with Air Conditioned Seating. The non air conditioned dining area is humid.

A wonderful eatery, with delicious food, the recipe has been passed on through generations. The duck and karimeen ate to die for.

I gave 1 star because there is no option to give 0 star. Please don't go here.had food poisone. I ate appam and duck roast that day and the next day I had severe stomach pain and was admitted in hospital for 1 day.

Usually the food was good but I had a bad experience of missing item in a parcel, though amount was paid. When asked, my brother was told it was there, which apparently wasnt.

The lunch was tasty and all the seafood too. But the seating area is very dark and unlit. The seating makes you feel nauseous and extremely humid, hot. Only if the seating was better, it would have been a pleasant experience. The pearl spot fish fry and the toddy was awesome.

The food out there was so tasty, especially the prawns roast. I really enjoyed their meals.

One of the fewer restaurants that open early in the morning, helpful for the travelers and others. The food we’ve had was Appam and Beef, that was extremely tasty not gonna lie. Moderately expensive. The negative side is the availability of parking space.

Nice place for Toddy and Non veg spicy food. Gives the ambience of olden days kallu shop or toddy shop but which can be enjoyed with family. There is also one called karimpin taste land a bit further which is recently renovated and offers same food varieties but with better cave like ambience. Both are equally good. Must visit who loves kuttanad cuisine which is more around areas surrounding the backwaters. Karimeen Pollichathu, Kappa puzhukk and Duck roast are must try food items on the menu.

Wow, tasty food, very good service personnel, but the rest rooms to be renovated, no napkins etc, if it's there I do give ***** rating

Actually it is a famous restaurant among the travelers in MC road around Kottayam. But the appearance and interior are poorly designed and maintained. Food is of course tasty. I prefer the staffs are to be more professional. They can attract more customers if they look at these things seriously.

The taste of Kottayam. The authentic kaimeen pollichath. They karimeen they use is really fresh. Also the prawns roast is too good. Spicy delicious kerala cuisine. The place every Malayali will enjoy. Dont get confused with a restaurant close by named “ Karumpin”. Its a copy of this real Karimpumkala.

Chappathi and duck curry was super while I had in the last visit. The structure of the building resembles a traditional Kerala home. The air flow and lighting are cool inside. They also keep it neat and tidy. Their approach is also good.
The building is not wheelchair accessible.

Tasty non vegetarian food is good and awesome.
Lot of backwater fish is available here.
Kappa and fish curry is awesome.
Normal meals is full of variety vegetarian curry and non veg curry.
Fish fry and beef fry is awesome.
Normal rate for all items.
Affordable price for tasty foods.

Good, spicy and tasty food. Price is little upscale.but the quality of food served is great. A good place for fish lovers

കരിമ്പുംകാല രണ്ടെണ്ണമുണ്ട്, ചങ്ങനാശേരിയിൽ നിന്നും കോട്ടയത്തേയ്ക്ക് വരുന്ന വഴി വലതുവശത്ത് പാർക്കിങ്ങും, ഹട്ടും ഒന്നിച്ചുള്ള, കള്ളു ഷാപ്പിനോട് ചേർന്നുള്ളതാണ് ആദ്യത്തെ കരിമ്പുംകാല. പണ്ട്കാലം മുതൽ ഇവിടാണ് കയറിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നത്. അടുത്തത് റോഡിന്റെ ഇടതു വശത്തായി ഒരെണ്ണം, അതിൽ ഒരു തവണ കയറിയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു, ഓർമ്മയില്ല.
ഏതായാലും ആദ്യം പറഞ്ഞ കരിമ്പുംകാലായിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞ ആഴ്ച്ച കയറിയ അനുഭവം പറയാം.
6 അപ്പവും, ഒരു കപ്പയും, ഒരു നാടൻ കോഴിക്കറിയും, ഒരു പന്നി ഫ്രൈയ്യും ആണ് ഓഡർ ചെയ്തത്.

അപ്പം പുളിച്ചതായിരുന്നു. ഈസ്റ്റ് ചേർത്ത് ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതാണെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. കള്ളിന് നല്ല വിലയാണ് അതായിരിക്കും കാരണം. ഏതായാലും വലിയ ഗുണമൊന്നും ഇല്ലാത്ത അപ്പം. എന്നിരുന്നാലും മറ്റുള്ളിടത്തെ വച്ച് നോക്കുമ്പോൾ ഇറ്റ് ഈസ് ഓക്കെ.

നാടൻ കോഴിക്കറി എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് തന്നത് വല്ല ഗിരിരാജ പോലുള്ള സാധനം ആണെന്നു തോന്നുന്നു. കറി ടേസ്റ്റി ആണ്, പക്ഷേ നാടനാണോ, ഫോറിനാണോ എന്നത് സംശയകരം. ആകെ 3 ചെറിയ പീസ്, അതിന് വില 250 രൂപ!

അടുത്തത് കപ്പ, തേങ്ങ കുറവ്, വേണ്ട ഐറ്റംസ് ഒന്നും ചേർത്തിട്ടില്ല. തേങ്ങായും, മഞ്ഞൾപൊടിയും, ഒരു മൂന്നല്ലി വെളുത്തുള്ളിയും, ഒരു പിടി ചുമന്നുള്ളിയും, ഒരു പച്ചമുളകും ചേർത്ത് പാതി അരച്ചാണ് അരപ്പ് ഉണ്ടാക്കേണ്ടത് (ഒരു കിലോ കപ്പയ്ക്ക്) - കോട്ടയത്തെ ചില ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ വെളുത്തുള്ളിക്ക് പകരം പച്ചമല്ലിയാണ് ചേർക്കുന്നത്. ഇത് ചുമ്മാ ഒരുമാതിരി പറ്റിപ്പ്. പോരാത്തതിന് ഉലത്തിയിട്ടുമില്ല, കുറച്ച് ഉലത്തിയ ഉള്ളി വെറുതെ കപ്പയുടെ മുകളിൽ ഭംഗിക്ക് വച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്, അത് വെറും തോന്ന്യവാസം എന്നേ പറയേണ്ടു. ഭംഗികാണാനാണെങ്കിൽ വെറുതെ കപ്പ വേയിച്ചതിന്റെ ഫോട്ടോ കണ്ടാൽ പോരെ? വില 40 ആണെന്നാണ് ഓർമ്മ.

ഇനി പന്നി, വില 180 രൂപ. ഒരു പ്ലേറ്റിൽ കരിഞ്ഞ് കറുത്ത എന്തോ ഒരു സംഭവം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു വച്ചു. കഴിച്ച് നോക്കിയിട്ട് കുറെ കരിഞ്ഞ അരപ്പ് തിന്നുന്ന ടേസ്റ്റാണ് തോന്നിയത്. അളവും കുറവ്. കൊല്ലപ്പള്ളിയിൽ ഹണി എന്നൊരു ഹോട്ടലിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം കയറിയിരുന്നു. 80 രൂപായ്ക്ക് നല്ല സൂപ്പർ പന്നി ഫ്രൈ കിട്ടി. ഒരു കുഴപ്പമേയുള്ളൂ ഒറ്റ നെയ്യ് പീസ് പോലും കാണാൻ കിട്ടില്ല. അത് വച്ച് നോക്കുമ്പോൾ ഇത് പട്ടിക്ക് കൊടുക്കാൻ പോലും കൊള്ളില്ല.

ഒന്നുകിൽ ഇവിടുത്തെ കുക്ക് പോയി, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ കച്ചവടം മൂത്തപ്പോൾ ഇതൊക്കെ മതിയെന്നായിക്കാണും. ഏതായാലും മേലാൽ കരിമ്പുംകാല എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു ഹോട്ടലിലും കയറില്ല.

I really didn't like it. The facilities were poor condition. Cleanliness. What is cleanliness? The food was ridiculously expensive. And was not as tasty or as it used to be. Options were also very few. I have been there years back and then it was really good. Now it's just too poor. Wrong decision to go there for lunch.

Very bad food.high cost for meals.but not enough curries and curries they provided with meals were very bad. Trivandrum meal is much better than this costly food.karimeen pollichathu was properly cooked, but masala podies was not properly added with it. Waste of money.

Been going here for close to 15 years. They have never let us down. Quality and taste remains top notch. The prawns dish and karimeen pollichathu are out of the world stuff.

P. S: this karimpumkala is the family restaurant on the right when coming from Kottayam

I went to yesterday 17/01/2019 it was bad experience. There is no clenes in that restaurant from the parking. Some food was old (beef fry) and ans Every were. It is like lockel today parler. Only the rates r high otherwise nothing

Really great and makes it worth for Karimpumkala to get into the world's multi cuisine forum. Lovely dishes and very well set. Good service too. Karimeen pollichathu is exemplarily amazing! Loved it over all. But not so sure if the pricing is fair enough. Also wish there were more parking space.:)

I went there hearing a lot about this restaurant. Actually there are two restaurants.one is a proper restaurant, the other one is a house converted into a restaurant. I went to the second type which was the original restaurant at first, adequate parking is available since this is situated adjacent to a highway.i ordered ഊണ് വിത്ത് കരിമീൻ പൊള്ളിച്ചത് (meals with karimeen fry wrapped up in a leaf), it cost me around 450 rupees.not upto the mark I must say and I doubt they add margarine in karimeen as well, totally not par with my expectations

Traditional Kerala dishes served hot. Place is well maintained and neat. Go there for a variety of fish dishes prepared traditional style. Duck, chicken dishes are also available. Karimeen pollichathu or black pomfret fry is a delicacy one shouldn't miss. Go for it!

Excellent fish and beef cuisine with homemade taste and reasonable prices. One of my favourite joints on the route between Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram
