Kerala House Restaurant

Kerala House Restaurant is a part of the culinary history of Trivandrum. It's been there for more than 45 years. Their fish curry meals, squid masala, fish curry etc are to die for. Add to it, their iconic beef dishes. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try out naadan dishes. All their dishes are super tasty and a toast to their kuttanadan roots. Their adicha tea, with a bit of froth on top, just the way I love, is one of my all-time favorites. Not to mention the smiling faces of the current owners Annu chechy and chinnu. I have always noticed their rapport with all the people visiting the restaurant. The people who serve the food also serve it with a lot of care and love. A must try place, for naadan food.

I had two experiences - a dine in and a delivery. Both were excellent and great value for money. The fish dishes are outstanding. I was craving some squid roast and the dish was perfect to the T. The vegetarian dishes are very tasty too. My mother and house help were amazed at the quantity of rice and vegetables being offered in the fish meals. Paayasam in the meals was exceptional too.

The best Kerala food I ever have. If I have to have the authentic and best of Kerala food, it costs me bomb. I have to take a flight for Trivandrum and reach to this place. I make sure at least twice in a year I satisfy my craving.

I love the way they serve, these sambhar is authentic or not I am no sure of, but that’s the best sambhar.

Pickup any dish, it’s WOW.

And over and above whatever quantity I consume, it never gives a guilt of over eating

If you want good tasty and traditional Kerala food with a better ambience, quality service, moderately and reasonably priced menu, this place is the right choice. Tried the meals thali, really good food. Only issue is parking, there is no place for 4 wheelers to park.

If you are craving for true Kerala meal and nostalgia of personal attention given in your favourite joint then this is the place to go.

An okay place to have your food. Unlike many other hotels, here the food is served by kerala chechi's with a sweet smile. Else nothing much special to make a note of.

The service was great. But unfortunately, just a good service dosnt make a hotel review good. The food was not at all fresh (ie fish) we ordered veg meals and they provided plain fish gravy along it it we ordered ayila, choora and naymeen (all fry) was just not at all fresh and it was served cold. I could see black spots inside the fish. We came here with great expectations but unfortunately ended up eating cold food. Talking about the price, I would say it’s expensive for what they serve. 200-250 for the cold fish.
Sitting Area was clean as I said, I would give 5 star for the service they provide with always a smile on their face.
Absolutely no parking area for cars. It’s in a one way road.
Bike parking is available.

Peaceful ambience and lively decor. One can sit there for hour together with a cuppa. Reminds me of Koshys in Bangalore

Ordered fish curry meals from here. Special thing about this was had tried their -*Kerala fish curry meals BOX*. Surprisingly it was good. Enough quantity for a person to eat infact more, well packed. The box had rice, chamandi, aviyal, piyar fry, kichidi & pickle. Rest of the curries like sambhar, moru curry, fish curry & Payasam too, packed separately. Worth buying.yummy and tasty!?

Kerala house, one of our favourite restaurant, no matter its South Indian or North Indian dishes, everything have a perfection and an Annu chechi (current owner) touch.
Unlike most of the restaurants, here its more into homely type food with less oil, but of great taste.

Recently I ordered panner mushroom masala for one of our family get together and the dish delivered was very yummy and now all our family members are a great fan of this paneer mushroom masala.

Not only taste, the rate is also affordable. Prompt home delivery

For the past few years we don’t have to rethink while ordering my daughter’s birthday cake Every year its like above our expectations.

Being tourists with stomach issues, went to this place to pick up kanji as per a friend’s recommendation. Tasty kanji with awesome green gram thoran, pickle, kappa with moru were out of the world. Beef bought for the healthy ones was too good! The restaurant folks were quite nice by offering curd without any charges.

NICE TASTE AUTHENTIC KERALA STYLE APPAM AND CHICKEN CURRY BUT CHICKEN PIECES ARE NOT SOFT AND TENDERLY

One of the best Chicken Biriyani ever. You can feel your tastebuds tingling for more as soon as you put the rice in your mouth. So good. As for the restaurant, the ambience is good. There are more women staffs here, which is great. The prices are reasonable too. If you're wondering, the chicken biriyani was ₹160 while writing this review.

I'm a non malayali and I took my non malayali friend to this restaurant hoping to get her to taste a good and proper Kerala meal. It was my first time there too. This place was homely, women there were so nice to us. We felt extremely comfortable and safe from any discomfort we'd usually experience. Our experience with their food was delightful as well. Any dish which includes fish is certainly their speciality.

I had ordered food for 40 adults during Christmas and my experience with them starting from food selection, to price discussion and until the final food delivery was very pleasant. Quality food with good quantity, prompt delivery was their highlight. Since it was a Non-Veg Christmas lunch, the food included chicken cutlets, cakes, meat, fish recipes, Kerala veg curries etc.and they all were very good looking) and tasty.

Pothichoru with Karimeen fry was the item I ordered. The taste was excellent. But I ordered 3 sets of pothichoru, but fish curry and some other curries are missing in each set. So I kindly request the staff to recheck the package to make sure all items are included. But when I ordered the same items for the second time on another occasion, they included all Curry's and tastes amazing. This 5 star goes for the taste of food. Really taste like homely food. Hats off to the entire team.

An old time place that serves really yum kerala good. Their porotta, beef and vazhakappam are a must try

If you would like to have authentic south Kerala style food, this place is where you should have it. Post Covid times - well maintained and hygienic.
We had the fish thali with fish fry, mutton biryani, prawn masala and fresh lime soda - everything tasted great with reasonable rates.

The restaurant has good and quality lunch served. But it is Not a place to have your breakfast. Food even though good and tasty doesn't have the authentic kerala taste. Its like almost there.

Food is not fresh, no good to taste, very expensive and the service is very bad. The only advantage is that we get some space for ourselves to sit.not overcrowded because food is bad quality.

Visited the restaurant by seeing goodle reviews. This restaurant also disappointed me. Orderd Kerala Meals with fish fry (nettoli). Both the item was worse. Received a fish gravy with the meals. Only that was far better.

Great place to have Kerala food at the Center of the city - walkable distance from Kerala state secretariat.this place is managed by women. Great service. I had tapioca beef biriyani, first time in my life and it was soo yummy.you must visit this place if you are in Trivandrum.

5 star cost for simple food in this restsurant. Good ambience.

Last week i had a lime soda and water melon from this restaurant and costs me 84rs

Your charges were

Lime soda-30+gst-cost outside will be 15 in ordinary shops and max u can charge 20 if that is added with both sugar nd salt. 30rs+gst is definitely huge.

Water melon (small glass, not much in quantity) -50+ gst-This too is high considering the quantity u supply.when people r suffering from this soaring heat charging high for drinks is not a good practice

Kerala house comes to my mind whenever I am in Trivandrum and crave for fish curry meals. Casual place. Nominal price.

The place is calm and less crowdy. If you are expecting a trendy place you will be disappointed. An old and a typical hotel. Ordered two fish meals +one natholi fry+2 vannila increams cost me 399.

Good ambience and friendly staff. All women staff. Food is good and have a wide variety of fish items and has no preservatives.

Good, but seems a little bit costiler than the returns.beware not to order "karimeen pollichatu". A sheer waste in terms of money.

Very bad service. Ordered and got the parcel more than 2 hours late. Staff attitude towards customer is very pathetic. The lady in the counter was shouting. Will never order from them.

Liked the food they serve. I went there twice during my 4 days stay. But don't expect the order to be fast. It will take time. Like lots of time. You'll end up waiting for Atleast 10 minutes.
