Though it is an administrative body for cultural centres, inefficiency and bureaucracy exist all over. No regular maintenance found anywhere in the compound. Buildings are not neat. Halls are laying dirty.
Small hall which can accommodate around 300 pax. Plastic chairs available for seating arrangements. Not air-conditioned. Parking available for 30 cars. Right on the heart of town, easily accessible from bus stand and railway station (less than 2 kms.)
Very good place for people who are interested in art and cultural activities. Often, there will be programs connected with art and culture. Occassionally, there used to be exibition of books.
An institution under Government of Kerala situated opposite of Thrissur employment exchange and near to Town Hall. There are two halls one is known as Vailoppilly hall and the other is Sahithy Academy Hall. The second one is more spacious than the other.
Kerala Sahitya Academy Hall is a most popular meeting and book releasing hall among the malayalam writers and all related in Cultural space. There is two halls one is Vailopilly Hall small one with approximate seating for for 50-60 and Main Hall in new block adjacent to old main building having a capacity around 200 people. Compound area is very clean and very quiet, a popular place to have small discussions among waiters, film makers and cultural activists and serious readers. Now Kerala Sahitya Academy office lead by new president appointed in March 2022 Poet &Writer P. Satchithandan.
Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award 2017 was announced, Malayalam Novelist Vj Jame's, Nireeshwaran' had won the best novel award on January 23 2019. Mindapeani, written by Veerankutty won Best poetry award. Ethara Characharangalude Charitra Pusthakam written by Aymanan John won the best short story award. The Academy has one of the best libraries in Kerala. It is an approved doctoral research centre for the universities in Kerala. The Akademi also holds periodic book festivals to encourage reading among the masses. The Akademi has a picture gallery of writers of yester years. The Akademi regularly publishes three journals Sahithyalokam, Sahithya Chakravalam and Malayalam Literary Survey (in English). The Akademi awards the illustriousEzhuthachan Puraskaram, which is named after the father of Malayalam literatureThunchaththu Ezhuthachan, yearly to prominent literary figures.

It's the cultural head quarters of Kerala. There are also fine arts academy near by, and also drama theatre. Most of the writers and artists are always recreating this academy's.
