Centre for Water Resources Development and Management (CWRDM) was established in February 1978 by the Government of Kerala as an autonomous research institution in consonance with its policy to promote the increasing use of science and technology in development of the people and the State of Kerala. The Centre’s major objectives are to function as a Centre of Excellence in advanced research, training and extension on all aspects of water resources in general and that of Kerala in particular. Its major thrust areas are the study of the key issues related to water and environment and promote action oriented plans aimed at conservation and sustainable utilisation of the increasing precious water resources of the State and the Country. After formation of the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) in February 2003
