Chances of seeing some wild animals are 30/70 still good to read a book.relax.live within nature

I stayed on 29 to 31st July 2023. I am regular visitor to Lake Palace. This time I totally fed up due to food and service.
The staffs informed that without cook they are managing. Very pathetic, we totally fed up. Management is Simply spoling the reputation and dignity of the palace. Very sad. Hope they make arrangements to rectify the same.

The serene abode amidst the green lushes and blue waters provided the luxuries of waking up to dawnchorus veiled by fog, lapping and splashing of the waves, the first rays of sun seeping in, awe of spotting other glorious species. The stay, aided by majestic rooms, rich palette and wonderful service, calmed my nerves and shooed away my worries.
-Only way in and out is the boat service by KTDC. Stick to their timings.
-Won't get network coverage in the island.
-avoid roaming around at night as our friends from the wild may not always be friendly.

Beautiful place to visit. Its an ancient summer palace built by travancore king in the middle of forest surrounded by periyar river. We had an amazing and unique experience here. Manager and staffs are very friendly and helpful. Food was also delicious. It's truly a gem of a place to visit. Higly recommended to everyone.

Went to Thekkadi over the weekend – 3rd to 4th Sep ’22.

We started from Kochi at 8AM, on the way we made a spot decision to re-route via Vagamon. The route was scenic. Reached Aranya Nivas Thekkadi by 14: 30. We could take our vehicle (by buying appropriate tickets from Forest; as we had confirmed booking) until Aranya Nivas.

We boarded the boat to Lake Palace after a short walk.

There were not many animals as there were rains and water levels were high – it covered the grazing lands.
The stay was amazing – we did what people typically do in such environments – DO NOTHING and enjoy ‘me time’ with family.

Loved the experience here. The quiet and calm place inside a forest. An island in periyar river. The climate here is very good. The staffs here was very friendly and helpful. Telling about the food, it was very amazing, tasty foods.loved it.

If you're looking for a place to stay with tranquility, this is the place for you. Place is surrounded by jungle and lake. Zero outside disturbance. Only limitation is you can't get wifi or most of the mobile signals here.if we enjoy to be there and want to take a leave from outside this is the place.staffs were too good.and food served was too delicious and lavish. Can have boating free while stay here. Must visit location.thanks to KTDC

Such a great and unique experience in the midst of the dam, forest and wildlife. The stay was wonderful and had a peaceful and royal* stay with my family.

Well to say about this resort.
It was during my vacation I visited Thekkady with my family. We planned of staying 2 days here and we reached this resort by afternoon. We parked our car outside and we were taken to the resort in a boat as the resort can be approached only by a boat as it's on an island.

Once we reached, we were greeted with grape juice and then taken to our room. We had booked the room facing the river and the view from our room is simply breathtaking. The aroma of the resort with the lake beside was great.
We could see wild boar's walking on the uphills when we look out of the window from our room. The room had all facilities and was comfortable. We had our lunch sometime later, the thing which I disliked is that usually we expect food which has hotel taste ie; tastes something different from what we have at home but here it tasted exactly like what we have at home and it should have been lil more yummier. I didn't find it up to the level.
That day we didn't go for boating n stuff as we were tired and yeah boating is only available morning as of what I remember. So the rest of the day we knocked around the resort.

Evening they served us coffee and cutlets. The lighting at night is yellowish which creates an exciting atmosphere. After having had our dinner (I don't remember what we ate) we were advised to keep our doors and windows closed as there were previous histories of elephants and monkeys coming and you know.

Next day morning we went for boating. We all clambered in the boat. There weren't much people, as of what I remember only us and 1 other family were on the boat. The scenery was breath-takingly beautiful. We could see dears grazing and on the top of the hills we could see boars. The tall trees silhouetted against the sky made beautiful scenes. In total the boating was wonderful. We enjoyed every single minute we spent and if you're a shutterbug you would get to click many magnificent pictures.

We spotted a deer struggling to cross the fence as it had come to our compound by mistake and it was few metres apart from our room. It was frightened to death when it saw us and yeah we wanted to help but you know it was kinda jumping here and there so we dared not go near it. It saved itself after some time.

Overall the experience was fantabulous. If your lucky enough then you get to see a peacock in the morning? The staff and services are good. The only think which I disliked here is the food, it wasn't that great. I would recommend you to choose this place if you'r visiting Thekkady, the resort itself gives you an amazing journey.

Second time at lake palace & happy to leave with even better memories. Kudos to the entire staff for making our stay pleasant. All meals are in included as part of the stay. One boat ride included as part of the deal. The wildlife sightings along the banks of the islands are thrilling. Could spot Indian bison, sambar deers, red mongoose, diverse species of birds, and were lucky to sight a small herd of elephants as well.

A beautiful location and a beautiful property owned by Kerala Tourism department. Ultimate hosting with Kerala cuisine. Absolutely loved it!

The place is excellent for a weekend with an amazing view of the periyar lake and tiger reserve forest. The sightings of animals around the nearby forest is amazing.

Heaven on earth at Thekkady. No words to describe. Really a lake palace. Rich and elegant. Was a summer palace of travancore royal family.

This place is ideal for anyone who's looking for a relaxing getaway with a scenic view and comfortable services. With no network in the vicinity, you can wake up to the sounds of chirping birds, rustling leaves, and gentle breeze. The view of lake and the forest overlooking
the room and the view of the animals grazing is something you cannot get anywhere else. The staff members and manager at Lake palace are courteous, and the food is delicious. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wish for an escape with their loved ones.

Excellent location in cradle of nature, surrounded by Periyar river 360 degrees, filled with sounds of chirping birds and crickets. Sambars, wild hog, bison, spider monkeys spotting is very common on river banks. Clean and airy Ambience with modern touch is an added plus. Food was excellent. Special thanks to the chef for making such tasty food.

Feedback to KTDC: please avoid diesel fuel for the boats as they fill the air with diesel smell and with so many boats making multiple trips would lead to water pollution. Alternative fuel sources should be explored for boats.

Lake palace was built by Travancore Royal family and you can see lot of history all over the place. There are only 6 rooms and I think there are more staff than the number of guest, they treat you like Royals. The food is very good

It's a wonderful experience with my limited experience and knowledge, Lake Palace is the best in Kerala.

Extremely satisfied with the service of the staff, ambience, quality and taste of food. Its a cool and calm place where we can spend our time close to nature

This was my 2nd trip to Lake Palace on Aug 13-16 2021. The first trip was during Aug2017. The slight drizzle, the flora, the fauna etc was still there, and deserve 5 stars. The food and the behaviour of the staff was top-notch.

But, unfortunately, there are certain things worth pointing out.

First one, this is a jungle. People pay a fortune to stay here to enjoy its serenity. The calmness of the water, the tweeting of birds, the chirping of crickets, the sound of the wind, an occasional roar from across the lake.

In most jungles people were not even allowed to talk loud. But here, this time, there were plenty of small children, misbehaving and crying out and shouting loud. The nuisance was there all the time of our stay. I am not against children or their enjoyments, but this is not the place for that. The management should look into the matter and take corrective measures.

Another issue was regarding civet infestation on the ceiling. On all the days we stayed, we had to deal with the civet excreting in our bedroom. It was a great relief that it didn't fell on us or our belongings, which included costly items like laptops and cameras. But Luck may not favour you every time. Immediate action should be taken to drive civets off the Palace premises.

Visited this place on recommendation from Mr Scaria and Mr Saaju of KTDC Periyar house, Thekkady. As they mentioned it was an amazing experience to cherish for the rest of our life. The ambience was unbeatable. The serene calm environment with no sound pollution.with no connectivity to the outside world was a different experience. Food was good. Property is well maintained with modern amenities. Excellent hospitality. There was a small park for children. Well maintained beautiful gardens with many flowering plants. Kudos to team KTDC right from boat staff to the staff @
the resort, Lake Palace, Thekkady for making our trip memorable.

This is a lifetime experience everyone I will recommend. Set away from urban jungle in the real jungle in an actual royal heritage building with astounding views of Periyar reserve forest flaura and fauna. The staff from the boat jetty to the hotel all attempted to make us feel princely. The rooms and washrooms matches to any comparable hotel. We thank Mr Shaju KTDC for recommending and arranging the stay. Will cherish the memories forever. My impression of KTDC as a government arm has changed.

Well mannered staff, do not expect fancy 5 star amenities amenties provided comparable to 3 star, but the ambience, view and the staff tops it all up. View to kill for

So, those who think they need a break from hectic life and busy mobile phone world can come here. I think they can improve the following things:
1. Cot should be made even more bigger.
2. Atleast 1 lady staff should be there.
3. They can provide snacks free of cost in the morning tea time around 11am and evening 4.30pm.
4. They can arrange spa treatments, gym, any activities like carroms, table tennis, chess etc, candle light dinner for honeymoon couples etc, which other less expensive resorts provide.

Never been to place more serene than this. Right in the middle of the forest and you can see animals grazing from a distance. The Kerala food is also great!

This was the summer palace of Travancore king.only 6 rooms. Kept as it is where the kings period with modern toilets. Super food. Lovely staff. Perfect for million Stars.

Anyone who has been here once would give all star review. That much of peaceful ambiance can be attained here. Lake view room is the best. Hence it is expensive too. Behind the LP, forest IB is located.
Generators are used to provide electricity here. Good kerala cuisines are provided here.
Guests opt this place for calmest stay, surrounded by Lake, Garden and forest. You can sit on the garden watching animals from the woods, mostly? ? ?

Approximately 6 room palace that was built for the Stay ofTravancore King during ancient times when they are out for hunting. Also British viceroy’s used to stay here. Worth spending a day if you are forest or silence lover.

A tranquil place to recharge yourself. Nice friendly staff, good food, lots of fresh air, overall super ambience. Enjoyable stay.

We stayed in Lake palace for 2 nights & 3 days. It was an amazing experience. The hotel staff were very cordial, but not at all intruding. The stay, food & atmosphere is beyond comparison.

We had an amazing time at the Lake Palace this week. To be honest we didn’t have very high expectations since the place is government run. But from the moment we were greeted at the boat jetty by the manager Binoy, until we left two days later we were treated like royalty.

The property itself is just beautiful with water all around. The views from the rooms and the lawns is stunning. Although we were not lucky enough to see any elephants or tigers, we had herds of bison’s, sambar deer’s and wild boars give us a show everyday on the bank right across the lawns.

The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. But what made our visit truly memorable was the staff. Everyone of them was attentive, courteous, and eager to help. Two staff members who stood out were Anish & Pradeep. KTDC should train all their staff to be like these two.

There is very poor cell coverage at the property which is perhaps a blessing as you get to really unwind. But one of the members of our group had an urgent Zoom meeting to attend. We asked the Manager if there was anything he could do to help. He immediately arranged for a boat to pick up our friend and took him to the Arya Nivas property where there was better coverage. This is the kind of service that makes you stand out.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Thekkady. You can’t go wrong.

It was a perfect exp. It was rainy season so there was no other guest expect us and we were impressed by hospitality. It was all exotic and personalised for us - jungle walk, lunch, dinner and breakfast. It was such an experience to see the animal across the lake especially in evening after last boat. This hotel is located in mid of jungle and you can start feeling it after last boat.

This place is just awesome. One of the best located Jungle retreats ever visited. Excellent food and service. The staff is very helpful and have fairly good knowledge of the surrounding flora and fauna. Herds of Bisons and Sambhar deers keep visiting the lake. Ideal for a relaxing holiday. Worth staying at least once.

Want to stay literally cut off from the world - go here! Stayed here for 2 days and the food was great. Only access by boat. Felt good not to look for your phone for a good 48 hours. Allows to you experience a short break away from the internet and in the middle of a massive green cover. A must experience if you want to feel what a hunting lodge stay experience is like.

We had a great experience at the lake palace as well as Aranya Niwas KTDC. All thanks to Mr Vinu Kumar, KTDC, Samudra for all the arrangements. It was a very good location and the staff was all very nice. We will like to visit again!

Lake Palace is probably the most understated property I have ever come across in the entire Kerala. Hidden in the depth of the forest and on the tip of a peninsula on a small island on the Periyar lake; only accessible by boat, this resort is straight out of a picture book. Nights are amazingly quiet with sparkling stars and glowing fireflies for company. This property is not a hotel, it is an experience like none other. It is highly personalized as there are only eight rooms and hardly twenty guest max in the entire property, it almost felt like being on a personal island. The food is absolutely wonderful and homelike. The whole resort functions on the principles of being responsible towards environment especially where wastage of food, water, other resources and garbage is concerned. They keep the resort lifestyle as minimalistic as possible and encourage and educate guest about the same. The rooms are sufficiently spacious for a family of two adults and one child. The furniture and design is gorgeous and very well maintained. Just a word or two of caution. Firstly for those who are not fond of or not familiar with Kerala cuisine, please speak with the resort staff for alternatives before you arrive. Secondly, once you arrive, there is no contact with the outer world. There is very little to do inside the premises. So carry all your essential medicines and essentials and most important some company for yourself if you are not comfortable with silence. If you are holidaying with kids, carry board games, colours and some ideas to keep them entertained.

Tucked in the heart of the jungle, Thekkady or Periyar Lake is famous for its wide varieties of wildlife. You can also take a boat ride in the reservoir that provides water to the forest.

It's in the middle of the forest. There is always a possibility that u might encounter wild animals. U will be surrounded by nature. Very different experience.

Unique wilderness experience. The King's Legacy, Solitude, Wild Animals. Ultimate unwinding spot. The only access is via boat through the Thekkady lake. No activities, no transportation after dark, no range. That can work as positive for some and negative for some. Awesome place:)

They have enough jackets for emergency.
We are able to see only deers and buafflos and nothing else

Room service was lazy and monkeys were comingto snatch our food and bags pls go and see the man at the reception he was looking like a camel pls don't feed the monkeys

We have stayed here twice and i have to say this is one of the best resort we have stayed so far. The ambience, the food, the Politeness of the manager and staff you name it, everything was really good. I'll definitely recommend this place.

One of our best travel experiences. Lake Palace gifted us 2 ever memorable days of our life. Amazing hospitality (its worth mentioning pradeep, anish, kanakaraj, etc.), stunning views of periyar lake, spotting wild animals at no distance, total peace and tranquility, great cuisines, all are superb.

Nothing to distrub you while you are in total love with nature and wilderness (even mobile signal except bsnl). You, your love and your mother nature.

Make your booking online and Proceed to Aranya Nivas thekkady hotel for your documentation before check in. From there they will arrange your boat to the Lake Resort and you have staff waiting for you with all hospitality at the resort. No doubt you will enjoy the stay and they arrange you the boating in the Thekkady lake as well. The rooms are awesome with all latest facilities and amenities. Highly recommend if you are a wild life lover. This is the best place to watch wild life live from the forest. No access outwards after the boat service is over and network on mobile available only for BSNL.

The place no doubt is breath taking but needs a lot of improvements. 1) options for food are limited, 2) bon fire and/or barbeque should be an option, 3) for this luxury the size of bed is too small,

On season it’s expensive but off season the prices are low and it’s affordable. Only few rooms which make it the less crowded place.
