Lake Palace Resort

This us quite possibly worst hotel i have ever stopped at in India.
Not due to the rooms, food or location.
But entirely to the service and operation of the hotel bar.
We have already been here 4 days, to find out that they have sold out of kingfisher.
On the first day the barman attempted to charge 1750 for 2 gins, despite the menu stating 200 each.
I guess the barman trying to make his takings look better as he can't sell beer, either a con or a deception.
After several conversations with the food and beverage manager, we are none the wiser, this guy is seriously hopeless.
Tonight we find they have sold out of tonic water, another conversation, he just looks at you and shakes his head.
Then he says the bar is closed for renovation, probably another poor excuse.
A five star hotel with no bar or sold out of everything, nothing worthy of just one star.
This place is best avoided.

Earlier it was good and excellent but after sterling took over things got changed and now it’s being horrible experience

1, The premium lake view suite photos in the web was misleading, and as arranged to accomodate 4 adults the bedroom area was too cramped. Only one wash room was available for 4 adults.
2, The boat cruise offered was a disaster as the seating arrangements was mostly side bench which was a strain on the neck, and ample deck space was banned. The old boat had bad fuel smell and vibrations to accompany.
3.the restaurant was over crowed with only 3 waiters to serve, clean etc.which caused more than an hour from order to food on the table.
4. The quality of food was much below the standerd.food quality, taste etc.which speaks ample about the chef and his team, if there were any.doubtful considering the delay. As a diabetic i personally had an agonizing time.
5, To speak of recreational arrangements, the much projected mini golf with one putt arrangement had bald patches and uneven grass.
6. There was a mini billiard table, but chargeble, which was unreasonable considering the high tarrif charged.
To sum up the whole experience was not pleasant or to standard for the amount one has to pay, which is 26490/rs for one night. This was not matchable by far with numerous resorts I have experienced at kumarakom, Thekkady and along vembanad lake.
7, There is more to remark, but better unsaid.

Beautiful experience.
The 2 days here was so good. The rooms, service, restaurant, pool, and the veiws we get from rooms, the cruise and the pool.
The trees planted even was so good.
Perfect for a weekend outing.

Extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay.inhouse facilities for all kinds of entertainment and activities like cycling, games boating etc.
The resort has a well managed restaurant which caters to every unique need of the guests. Admirable. And a very pleasant ant cooperative staff.
If anything adverse, the food costs are sky-high and frankly exorbitant.
The approach road needs a really serious makeover.but all in all as very nice experience.

Well kept surrounding is the highlight. Food was good. Well kept rooms. Beautiful pool. Overall everything good and nothing bad.

This resort is close to Alappuzha town. Nearly 2.5 kms from Alappuzha KSRTC stand. Resort is located at Chinnam region. This place is surrounded by Vembanad lake. An artificial lake is built inside the resort and there is a swimming pool inside the artificial lake.
We booked a Deluxe room and it was spacious. Toilets were good. View from Deluxe rooms was lake at Balcony end and artificial lake besides. There is a complimentary boating offered with every bookings. It starts at 5 PM and the boating crew was very friendly. Breakfast buffet offering was also good.
Checkout time is 11AM which I wish it could be 12 PM. There is place to play shuttle, children playing area, Gym as well. Car Parking is outside the gate. Stay inside house boat is also available.

Truly speaking, the resort is not worth for the price they charge for accommodation as well as for food. Moreover, the terminal approach road to the resort which is about 2 km is horrible. Our check in was much delayed and we could feel the shortage of staffs to attend the needs promptly. There are many branded chains of resort in Alleppy for the same price and much better service and luxury accommodation. The food was just average except for their prawns biriyani which was excellent.

Excellent place to spend few days with family! Ambience is really good! Staffs are well mannered! They are ready to help always and without any hesitation!

The highlight of this resort is its close proximity to the beautiful lake. There is also a artificial lake in the middle of the resort. There are cottages available beside both the artificial lake and the real lake. The place is so serene and peaceful. You can have a wonderful stay with your family or friends. However, the breakfast buffet was not up to the mark. Everything else is great with the stay on this resort.

Located close to Alappuzha town the resort is one of the best in Alappuzha. Lots of space so you won't feel that it is located near a crowded town at all. Paddy fields all around and vembanad lake on the other side. The service is great and staff are friendly as well. Go for deluxe lake view room.

Everything is great except for the road through which you reach here. The last 1km stretch is horrible. Pleasantly surprised why an ex-minister's resort can't get the government to fix the road.

There is only boating here.once you enter the boathouse, they will provide accommodation and food.but it's very expensive.

Good place, gone there as my project team outing. Good food, great ambience. Back water view, less clorinated swimming pool (can enter the pool with swimming nylon dress only), Played water volleyball with friends, but had to play in low hieghts asthe ball goes out of swimming pool area, it's water lake outside so difficult to take the ball, two times ball goes there and had difficulty to take the ball. Afternoon it was raining so we go to indoor game room there we can play chess, card games and billiards game. Descent place to hangout with friends and family. About food good sea food available here, the dinning hall was traditional old Kerala house model with wooden floor and walls, had a separate private balcony for some of our teammates for having alcohol.
It's lake facing resort, with some cottages also build above lakes, back side of the resort is a paddy farm. Has boating facilities, but due to bad wether we didn't try it.

Excellent backwater view throughout the day! The food in their restaurant is also amazing. All in all it offers you a very pleasant stay coupled with a free backwater boat ride in the evening.

We enjoyed n loved the property.staff were very nice n polite.provided good service. Property was well maintained.

An Yet Another, Awesome Place Near to A Beautiful Lake From Where we can see Number of House Boats cruising By.
Really. Nice Staff, And I Had a great experience, It's Expensive, But once in a while it's Still Worth it

We visited the resort in mid Feb, 2021. We found it much better than our expectations. We booked a Lake view Premium room which costs more than 6k per night. It was a great experience.the whole property is built around a lake which gives a relaxing feel. Its so calm, that only the sounds of birds and the houseboats and water waves is audible. Nice curated gardens and pathways. The swimming pool is awesome. The restaurant and the food is great plus an awesome service. They have sports too like mini golf, badminton, archery, cycling, pottery making etc along with a complimentary boat ride to their office at Alleppey KSRTC bus stand in the market area. They too provide a daily complimentary boat ride in the Vembanad lake at 5: 00 pm for an hour. The whole property is given a wooden shade with a red wooden polish. The views of the lake are breathtaking. The chirping of birds is soothing. A play area for kids is also there. They too have ayurvedic massage and spa. We took the Shirodhara ayurvedic massage and felt relaxed. All in all, value for money and unforgettable memories.

Property facing to wider view of lake punnamada, we were there in bar only, bar and adjoined restaurant on 1st floor where we get panoramic view of lake Punnamada, service is fine, rates of beverages and food were reasonable considering facilities and ambience, land scape and gardens well attended, we could see tropical fruit trees/ plants every where in the property, back view of the property is long stretch of paddy fields

Excellent Hotel. Good vegetarian and Jain available. Entire staff is co-operative and well mannered.

The most perfect man in this place is called Mr. Shah he is very cooperative with people he helped us so much Thank you very much Mr. Shah ️

Stay here was the best part of our 11 Day Tour to the Kerala.

We have booked 5 Rooms and we are 9 persons.

They have 1 staff member dedicated to us, who take care for all of our needs, they have buggy (Golf Cart) to rome in the Resort.

No vehicle is allowed inside of it.also it's very nice property, well cleaned staff here is so kind and helpful at the same time as well.

Bit on the expensive side, but you will feel that it worth your every penny

It is a very beautiful property, i wish they would pay more attention to maintenance of rooms and upkeep of their main attraction -vembanad lake.
We stayed for 2 nights. After a great swim we rushed our daughter to the shower in the room, but to our misfortune there was no hot water. My wife tried to console my little one who was shivering with cold. We waited for about 15 minutes for water to turn hot but no luck. I made multiple calls to reception and house keeping but they failed to act promptly. We had to bathe her in cold water hoping that she does not catch cold. We were so sad and disappointed that my daughter had to go through this. Staff kept on saying sorry but that wouldn't bring back the 35-40 minutes of agony and discomfort that we faced. They kept asking me what would make me happy which annoyed me more.
Then I started paying more attention to the room and surroundings - flush was broken, cobwebs in the room where mosquitoes and small insects were stuck, one of the sofa chairs was broken, i kept asking for in room dining menu but untill i went to the reception and made a scene there was no urgency amongst the staff to help us.
There is nothing much to do in alleppy so our expectations with the resort were high (their rates are pretty high too).
Other than the things mentioned above it is a very good place. We enjoyed evening walks and the recreation area and rest of the stay went uneventful - we skipped the pool because the next morning again hot water was not coming, and i knew that there is nothing that the staff can do to ensure it wont happen again.
The surrounding lake is not exactly how they show in pictures, it is quite dirty and smelly. While you may not get the smell on the property but if you do take a boat ride you are bound to get it. Unless there is major project for cleaning of the lake, resorts like lake palace are going to go out of business soon.

About food - breakfast buffet is pretty standard for a 4+ star hotel. Cereal, live counter for eggs and dosa, variety if juices, bread and confectionery. However that taste of the local cusines was just average - pudu, idiyappam we had in munnar gave the food in lake palace a run for their money. Even the dinner buffet (900+taxes) lacked the taste. There were no starters, we ll there was a masala idly (too dry), potato in a glass- i felt it was just boiled bland potatoe (i forgot the name of the dish). Deserts where good, again the local rice, jaggery, milk dish was not up to the mark. I have had better in other places in Kerala.
While the staff tried hard to keep the service excellent, main thing -food gave up on them.
There are paddle boats that you can use, mini archery, recreation room with pool, table tennis, chess, carrom and cards. Gym is just functional.
You can take the cycles and ride around the property - again attention to detail is missing most if the cycles needed service and air in the tires.
Anyways, we went to have a good time and we did, other than the incident i mentioned above.
But as a resort for wich you pay so much, they need to work hard to keep calling it a four star property.

It was pleasant. They packed my breakfast very neatly so that I could check out early morning. When I pointed out faulty AC, they switched me to another room immediately. Food was excellent! Only negative was that the room furniture could have been better and more spacious. Had the hotel been a high rise, the views could have been even better!

Great resort with good level of amenities and service. The view is incredible as it is located right on the shore of the backwater lagoon. We received a warm welcome and had a really great time here. Highly recommend

One of the best resorts in Kerala backwaters for stay and should plan at least 2 days for it.every one in there team is very enthusiastic about there job and guest caring and entirely different from whatever written on internet about them.activities involved in u stay free 1 hour ride in backwaters, cultural dance in evening, evening hi tea, fish catching, cycling, swiming (a pool inside the pond), pottery making and sports like chess, table tennis, snooker etc.premium rooms face backwater and hertiage room face there own lake but they give more refresh feeling then premium one for stay.

Once you enter in to the resort. You will feel like a king and secure.fabulous place to stay with your family for spending quality time and lots of activities will be organized by the resort. Complimentary boating will be arrange inside the resort.main thing is the resort is fully surrounded by water.value for money

Over all an excellent place to visit! You will be treated to grand views of the the backwaters and beautiful landscaping. Hotel staff are very helpful and don't mind if you occasionally indulge in plucking a fruit or two from trees; there are many activities for adults and kids, some of which are at no additional charge. We ordered Kerala curries, biryani and some delicacies which met or exceeded our expectations.

Very good stay overall. We had a problem of ants in our room for the first night. This was handled with care by the staff. Actually they gave us an other room with upgrade. The pool's water is suite hot:) but still very nice to swim for so time. We like the restaurant buffet we tried it for one dinner. Lots of choice et well cooked. Some of the dish had way to much chilis for me, but I managed to eat almost every dishes.

Awesome place to spent a short vacation.

The surroundings are too beautiful and you could get the feel of Alleppey if you stay here.

Entry for vehicles inside the resort is restricted to make the resort more environmental friendly, they take you inside using their electric wagons.

The suites are too good to stay and you could have a variety of dishes from their kitchen. Especially go for the Seafood ones.

The hospitality was too good as we were offered with free boat rides around the lake Punnamada.

The massage parlour was also good.
They specialise in good ayurveda massages.

Also we were allowed to take back home all varieties of ripe fruits grown inside the resort.

Excellent place to visit and spend the whole day. They cook food really good, better than most of kerala's hotels.

I Just love this resort in Allepey, I suggest u to choose lake view deluxe room, which makes u feel more romantic and comfortable. Overall experience in this resort is awesome.

Amzing resort, good food, courteous staff and very good enities, like cycling, pool table, pedal boting etc. Everyday cultural show is good. Ride in backwaters is very good.

It's a great resort. Best option for Alleppey. It's right next to the lake. On one side there is a natural lake and on the other side there is a man made lake with swimming pool in the middle of it. Rooms between the lake and the swimming pool are the best. The deluxe rooms are bigger and have an extra sitting area near the entrance. The cottages are charming but they are around the man made lake and are on the water level. The deluxe rooms are on two levels so if you select the room on the first floor (above the ground floor, second floor by american method) the views are better.

Absolutely stunning! Writing this review soon after leaving the place. Lake Palace Resort gave us the best time we had in Kerela. The ambience, hospitality, beauty of this place is amazing. Surrounded by water from all sides, the place offers a panormic view of the lake. 1hr complimentary boat ride is provided alongwith cultural night. The food was also good, especially for us (North Indians). There are lots of activities available in the resort. Although heavy rain disturbed the fun quotient of the place, as we had to stay indoors, also there was a pungent smell in the premises because of rains. Still totally recommended for a wonderful stay.

Lake location and natural settings make this resort simply amazing. Accessible primarily by a water way the experience begins with the ride into the resort. There is a road access too but the waterborne entry is the best. Rooms are in twin suite configuration on three sides of a rectangular water enclosure. Electric buggies help one move around the vast area as rooms are a healthy walking distance.

There is a decent range of food options with Kerala cuisine prominence. The scenic waters of the backwater come alive in the sunset cruise around Vembanad Lake. Daily dance recitals make the evening beautiful. Ayurvedic Spa is available for holistic healing time.

Beautiful resort with large, comfy rooms, nice swimming pool, direct access to the House Boats and most of all, excellent food! While the food was top notch, the restaurant service could be slightly better - we were coming from the Taj Malabar and their service was outstanding. Regardless, we highly recommend this resort for families and couples alike.
