Mangalvanam, the smallest bird sanctuary in kerala is situated near Kerala Highcourt. It's a Mangrove forest, but not maintained well. Entry charge is Rs. 10.
This place is there in the heart of the city but not taken care of much. No parking space for cars, apart from boards & walking love birds amidst lush greenery there’s nothing much.
It’s best to go fully wrapped. You should expect a lot of mosquitoes.
Sanctuary is fine but the route and near areas are highly polluted with plastics and other materials. This can effect both man and Birds arriving there
A good place for eco lovers. The oxygen parlour of Kochi City. A hub for overseas birds. Entry restricted by tickets. Behind High Court of Kerala. The meals shop with fresh fish fry (Chala Kada) near by is a rush restaurant.but a must try dish.
Not at all what I was hopping for. Most of the attractions were closed the old railway station near the sanctuary was closed. Overall good atmosphere A nice spot for couples The admission fee is 20 Rs Don't have a lot of expectations just enjoy the nature
A cool and unnoticed location at the heart of the town. Calm and Serene atmosphere. Perfect place to relax. Much more could be done to improve it's current condition.
There's nothing special. Some abandoned area where. Some local birds build their nests. It's actually not a bird sanctuary. Somebody vested interests politicians to make this as a bird sanctuary. That too is not a good intention
Green and calm place in middle of the city. It can be explained as a small sanctuary for birds and water species. Well maintained and is good for nature lovers. Ideal for getting some shade in sunny days while travelling through ernakulam highcourt area.
Could not even walk through the place.the pathway is completely broken and cannot walk on it. You can walk only a few steps from the tree house and that's it. Poorly maintained place though with so much potential. I spoke to the caretakee there and he said they exhausted all the funds they had literally for nothing. He said that until the next tender is called this place is going to be broken. Nothing there in this place just for a few college couples trying to get some privacy.
The place is all mushy and the pathway is flooded.dangerous to step foot inside it. Saw a few birds, two huge trees filled with bats and a few sparrow's. Nothing apart from that was visible.
Sorry to disappoint but better to avoid this place unless the authorities fix this place.
Mangalvanam is basically a small mangrove forest, (well you can't call it a forest thought) surrounded by walls They clame that there are around 29 species of birds but you will be really lucky if you could spot at least one, Of course you could see some of the normal birds Another main attraction of mangalvanam is the mosquitoes, you could get to cover your body with hundreds of mosquitoes at the same time. They also clame there are turtles, butterflies and other creatures that you could rarely see. The place may bring wounder to small kids and people who has not been into a real forest but for the others the place may be some what disappointing. You can finish seeing the whole place within half an hour
