Marari secret beach Yoga & kalarippayattu Homestay

I did not stay at this home stay but came for a private Hatha yoga lesson with Vimal. Vimal was an excellent teacher - attentive and very patient of my lack of experience! The location was great, just off the beach with the yoga deck looking out onto a river that joins the sea. Super reasonably price and would definitely recommend!

Very good place to enjoy the tranquility in kerala. The food they make is very tasty and they are very friendly at all times. Great yoga classes.

It was awesome rowing on the thermocol boat with my friends on a pleasant evening.had lots of fun.worth visiting.

We loved discovering the kalaripaya alongside Ashim. He is very patient and explains very well this martial art that we did not know at all. He shared his passion for this practice with us and was able to answer our many questions.

We had a terrific stay at this homestay - the cake provided for the anniversary was super sweet!

The host, Vilma, and family are wonderful and greeted us with a refreshing fresh juice. Vilma is always on hand for anything that you need - just drop a message on whatsapp and a response will be provided. We were grateful to his advice on how to travel to his homestay as well as reach our next.

Our fantastic room with ensuite shower room came with toiletries (inc mosquito spray) provided which was much appreciated. Our view was onto the lagoon which had the beach behind it - it was a nice spot to catch the sunset.

You can get to the beach via raft, cycle or walk. Rafting across the lagoon was fun as was cycling. Both facilities were included at no extra cost.

The food is excellent (Breakfast included; Dinner - Rs150 veg/Rs250 non-veg) - the shark curry was exceptional, so much so, that we asked if we could have it again which they kindly obliged.
Beer is also available (Rs 150)
Refilling of your water bottle is free.

Yoga and Kalarippayattu is also available - we did a hatha yoga class (Rs400) at 4pm and watched a Kalarippayattu class which was taking place prior to our dinner. Vilma is a former Kalarippayattu champion and has also starred in films - his passion for the art is infectious.

The location is perfect if you are looking for a super quiet, relaxing stay near the beach with amazing food. The beach nearest to us were super quiet to the point that you would most likely get a section all to yourself.

This place was an oasis from a noisy Indian world. It only has three rooms and a delightful extended family runs it. Vymal, the owner, is a wonderful host and accomodated all of our needs. It is located on a backwater lagoon where you can row a small boat across to an incredibly private beach. Only a few fisherman or neighborhood kids playing soccer. The meals were served family style and we had truly authentic and delicious Keralan style breakfasts and dinner. Try to get the room facing the lagoon, but any room is still excellent, clean and modern. The rooms have AC, but we never needed to use it because of the ceiling fans. Also each room has a lovely porch with fans as well.

We had a lovely stay at this homestay. The host was very helpful and the food from his family was amazing! You get a boat were you can peddle from the river to the beach. The way is like paradise with all the palm trees, birds and banana plants.
The hosts gives also yoga lessons suitable for every level.

Very nice room, well maintained.
The meals are excellent and the independent access to the beach by raft is a real plus.
The beach is beautiful, in the morning you can watch the return of the fishermen
A little far from alleppey center but the tranquility, the beauty of the place and the welcome are worth going a little out of the way, (public bus nearby)

2Wo Aufenthalt mit Einzelunterricht in Yoga & Karari - man spürt sofort Vimals Hingabe zu beiden Künsten. Seine Beweglichkeit & Freude am Kampf ist beeindruckend und er ist ein einfühlsamer und anspruchsvoller Lehrer. Er hat mir Grundlagen basierend auf meinen Fähigkeiten vermittelt, so dass ich nun allein weiter üben kann.
Die ganze Familie ist so herzlich und aufmerksam. Das keralische Essen lecker und mein Lieblingsplatz die schattige Hängematte am Backwaterufer mit Blick auf Strand & Meer. Das Anwesen liegt an einer kleinen Sackgasse, es herrscht wunderbare Kühle unter den Palmen, und Ruhe - abgesehen von all den Vögeln & Grillen & Kirchen & Brandungsrauschen.
Eine Bushaltestelle ist nicht weit entfernt.

One of the highlights of our travels through India! Vimal and his family are great people, the nature around the homestay is beautiful and the beach is unspoilt. Also, we had the cleanest room we have seen in 5 weeks, it’s really spotless and includes essential details such as soap, mosquito repellent, toilet paper. Please do not skip this place because it has no AC. You will not need it, the cottage is well-built and the seabreeze keeps the area cool at night.
Also: Vimals yoga class around sunset is something you do not want to miss.
We had a wonderful daily rhythm here: we first had a nice breakfast, discovered the area in the afternoon, then we would hit the awesome waves on the beach, after which we did hatha yoga with Vimal. Then we would have a delicious dinner from Vimals mother and wife, and lastly we would have a deep, early sleep. Next day: repeat:) We could have easily stayed here for a week. Highly recommended!

Wonderful home stay to retreat. One of the cottages have backwaters view. Hatha yoga and kerala martial art classes are available. They provide food. Not hard to visit Allepey from here.

The stay was great. Hats off to the ambiance and the cleanliness of the room, we could even hear the waves, best inclass amenities, the rooms were spacious, would definitely suggest this place

We had a superb holiday, the rooms were extra clean and well maintained, the home food delicious, healthy and unexpensive and the surroundings quite friendly and welcoming. Our hosts took great care of us, providing us all facilities and giving us good tips on the things to do in the area. The beach is most beautiful and easily accessible. I strongly recommend Vimal's place.
