Fresh fish, mostly Mackerel, sardine, black tuna, crab, anchovies and prawns are available. But we once had an experience where we accidentally bought old fish from a chechi. Fish will not be available on Sundays. On other days mostly in the morning between 6 and 8 we can buy fish from vendors. Sometimes we can get fish directly from the boats at a much cheaper price.
Best fish market, at very reasonable price. Numbers of sea food varieties are available, best part is fresh you can get, do wait for the boats to arrive and get fresh one in kilos. Auction is also available.
Good place to buy fresh fish. But there also the cheaters are roaming. If you are not vigilant, the one third of fish you got by auction will not fresh. Mixing also going on, not everyday but its happens.
Market to bid for fresh fish. Have to directly bid for the fish from the fisherman. Place is worth if you need more fish say more than 10 kg. Price also depends on the catch.
If you have an eye for fresh fish, then this place is the best to buy them. You can either buy directly from fisherman through auctions or you can buy from vendors soon after the auction is over. Though directly buying from auctions are profitable, if you go alone then the option is not feasible. Also you can be cheated with old fish as I have been once. It was my first time there and I bought the fish from a vendor. Now a days, I wait for the boats to arrive and a few auctions to occur. Then I buy from vendors who have purchased from the fishermen through auctions. This way you can get a variety of fishes rather than ending up with a whole lot of same one.
One of the best place in Trivandrum were you buy fresh fish that too at less price compared to other places. Only thing is you have to come early by 6 am atleast. There will be open auctions available.
