Mistletoe Homestay & Art Gallery Cafe

We had the the pleasure of staying at Mistletoe Homestay for 3 nights and we couldn’t have been happier to have found this beautiful and peaceful idyll.

Joe is the perfect host, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were looked after. Greeted with Masala chai and the best masala cookies (I didn’t even know these existed but I found my heaven!), we were shown to our spacious room, overlooking the stunning landscape of rolling green hills, buzzing with birdsong.

Over the next 3 days, Joe helped guide us on how best to spend our time and explore Munnar by foot, as we had primarily come to Munnar to trek through the tea plantations and hike up some surrounding hills.
Everything was organised with such ease which made for a wonderful time in Munnar.

I must also share my gratitude for the delicious food we were served from breakfast, to lunchtime snacks and home cooked dinner, the selection of choice is just right and every single thing we chose was a taste sensation - definitely some of our favourite meals whilst being in India.

Thank you to Joe and his family for a part of our trip we will be sure to treasure, with memories to cherish forever.

This is a wonderful Homestay, great for serenity and to enjoy nature and birds. The food is delicious, home cooked and reminds me of my ammachi’s home. Joe is a remarkable host, always ready to chat and help make decisions on what to see and do. His sons are a delight! The only slight downside is it’s a bit far out so all transport has to be arranged. Nonetheless highly recommended.

What a wonderful place run by an amazing family. I will recommend all of my friends to come here. The food was delish, we even got to do a cooking class to see how everything gets made. The owner knows the best local locations and the view is perfect.

We had a really great stay at Mistletoe thanks to Joe and his family. It is a beautiful place with incredible views throughout the property. The room was really lovely with a private balcony. We ate at Mistletoe every night and the food was delicious as are the breakfasts and it was all great value. Joe was very helpful and suggested and organised activities for us which was great. It is about 40 mins from Munnar but that was not a problem, would highly recommend.

My recent stay at Mistletoe homestay was an exceptional experience. The house was immaculate and beautifully arranged. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

The homestay is situated in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood of Munnar town, which was perfect for me as I needed some time to unwind and relax. On the contrary, access to town and other tourist spots were bit far from there.

One of the things that stood out to me was the delicious breakfast that was served, yummy Kerala dishes with a Mistletoe signature attached to it.

Overall, I highly recommend this Homestay to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming, and authentic experience.

A stay that is delivering experience.
I visited Kerala with my husband and mistletoe served us at our stay in Munnar. Mistletoe and Joe, our host, were a big part in making our munnar days beautiful. Joe was always available when we needed him for any small or big issues. He shared a lot of stories and bought the culture of Kerala to us through these stories and his delicious meals. He made us a very satisfactory itinerary that served our way of travel.
Lots of thank to joe. I would definitely recommend this stay.

The rooms are super cute with a nice balcony overlooking the mountains. They are clean and welcoming.

The good is very tasty. We had keralan breakfast and both the days, we were super impressed. Since it was Christmas time, we also had homemade plum cake that was delicious!

The host is very friendly, and we were greeted with a hot chai. They offer good advice on what all to see in Munnar, catered to our interests.

Good place with clean and comfy beds.host was very nice and attentive.food is amazing and you can ask for not spicy food and they cook to your needs.it's quite far for Munnar city.

The owner Johnson Joseph is extremely rude who treated our family very badly and we forced to vacate after an hour. According to him, he is only welcoming only foreigners. Additionally, the overall facilities available are extremely poor for this price range. Not even basic facilities are missing. Never ever recommend this place to anyone! Guys if you don’t want to spoil your vacation, stay away!

It is a beautiful premium property tastefully decorated with knick knacks, lovely paintings and thick flowering plants. The view of the mountains from the room is breathtaking. Food is exceptionally good- fresh, homemade and flavourful. We stayed in a family suite with our family of 4. Mr. Johnson, the owner of the property takes personal interest in ensuring that the customer is satisfied on all grounds. Highly recommended place.

It was home away from home. The rooms, the ambience was homely and spacious. Joe and his family was very welcoming and friendly. Food was good and a unique tasty from the normal Kerala food. His sons were working hard and they also take guests for treking. Overall it was a great experience and we wish Joe and his family the very best. We will definitely go again.

It is small and cozy property and one can find himself/herself at home especially with the wonderful service. The owner himself takes care of the property and leaves no stone unturned in providing an excellent experience.

The size of the room is good and one gets a wonderful scenic view of the mountains from the room. The whole property is covered by plants so you would find greenery even inside the homestay.

The food is delicious, I had some really good meals cooked by the owner himself, and I have to commend his and his mother's cooking skills, they do a better job than the actual chefs so the food is a must try!

The only con about the property is its location in terms that you won't be able to experience the tea plantation as the property is not exactly located there but nonetheless one can travel from there to tea plantations in just about 25-30 mins.

Had a lovely stay here. The ambience is serene, the decor is understated elegance, the food is as close to home as it can get and the host, Mr Johnson, is unobtrusive and attentive to all your needs. In short, I would have loved to stay longer.

We booked at because of its high ratings everywhere and the place prove itself worthy of each star. Serene ambience, very kind owner whom we had a chance to have a conversation with. The food is amazing and the service is wonderful. We couldn't find anything to complain about. All in all, one of the best stays we have had.

Excellent stay at Mistletoe. This Homestay is easily accessible as its next to Kochi-Munnar (NH85) road. It is located in a picturesque area with mountain view from balcony.
The rooms are very spacious, clean and well-maintained. The owner and family are very friendly and courteous, which made our stay much more pleasant.
The breakfast is complimentary and includes a variety of dishes, along with fresh fruit and juices. There is a variety of food choices available for lunch and dinner too. The food quality is very good. The BBQ cooking area is awesome and the ambiance is too good.
Highly recommend and we look forward to our next stay here.

We spent 6 nights in Mistletoe Boutique Homestay and Cafe and I must say it was a delightful experience. Our host Mr. Joe was an absolute gentleman and guided us a lot while making sightseeing decisions. Room was spacious and clean with all the amenities. Best part of the room is the balcony view, just outstanding. The property is very well maintained and elegantly designed. Both Joe & Jina are incredible. Food & drinks are always available whatever you want to order. A 5 star recommendation for this place.

This cozy homestay was such an amazing find! Hosted by the very hospitable Joe and his family, this homestay is located around 18 km from Munnar town, away from all the hustle and bustle. There is so much greenery and birds chirping that you instantly feel at peace. There are a total of 7 rooms and they are spotless with a balcony that provides wonderful views of Munnar town and the hills. You can also find a large number of bird species that come to feed on the fruit trees in the property - I was personally able to spot at least 15 different varieties in the early hours of the morning. The interior is well decorated with a lot of cool antiques that seem to be from Joe's travels. A lot of thought has been given to the little details and this really does make a difference. The view from the dining area is breathtaking and handpicked songs are played. The food is purely homemade with the ingredients fresh from Joe's garden - there is even a greenhouse set up which was amazing to see. The limited food menu consists of beverages, tea time snacks, different items for lunch and dinner and a standard breakfast menu. The cost for these dishes is reasonable and cheaper than what you might need to pay at Munnar town. Tried the banana fritters, pepper chicken, green chicken curry, avocado salad and could not decide which was our favorite. Breakfast consisted of some fruit juice, cut fruits, specially prepared vattayappam, string hoppers and black chickpea curry which was absolutely delicious. There is good wifi connectivity for those of you who want to work from here. They also offer discounted prices for long stays so make sure you call them up before booking online. One of the best things about this homestay is that during covid times they provide only 50% occupancy so that sanitization and social distancing can be given full priority keeping in mind the travelers safety. The property accepts cash, card, gpay and online payments. Will definitely visit this gem of a place again!

We found the ala-carte food items to be tasty but very costly. So would advice to enjoy the hospitality but eat outside

Beautiful place overlooking lechmi hills. Sparkling clean place. Joe and Ashok make you feel at home. We had delicious food made with mostly home grown ingredients. The wood fire pizza is a must try and also the bread Joe bakes the day he sets up the word fire.

Perfect place to unwind. Fabulous place for a family vacation. Highly recommend for stay in munnar.

We enjoyed our stay at Mistletoe. Our room had a balcony and a great view on the green hills. The food, freshly prepared by Joe and his wife was delicious. Different tours/treks can be directly booked, depending on the own wishes. Recommended!

This warm and friendly boutique space is full of whimsical touches. It is very clean. The food and service are really great. They have reverse osmosis filtered water bottles available. Joe is very helpful and can arrange transportation, tours and services. We enjoyed exploring the area with the Mistletoe as our haven.

One of the best homestays that we all have stayed as a family in. The homestay is nestled amidst the beautiful pristine hills of Munnar and you get an awesome view of the Letchmi hills and the greenery from the balconies.
The owner Joe is super friendly and a great host alongwith Ashok who made all of us feel at home with their wonderful homegrown fresh fruits and their speciality Wood fire Pizza and bread.
A fantastic place to stay in Munnar if you like spending quiet, joyful family time with nature.
The rooms are sparkling clean. The common room is a cosy place to hangout as a family, read books from their small library and listen to relaxing music.
The view from his restaurant is also very good and the ambience is one to remember.

Food and hospitality were excellent. Mr. Joe was very helpful. The ambiance was classy. The food was neatly prepared, homely with a unique touch. The local dishes must definitely be tasted.

Always recommend. The honestly owners are very humble and take care of the guests with all their might. Beautiful ambience. Excellent balcony view. Tasty home made food. Good variety and mostly home grown too. Healthy food is what makes a family stay complete. It's close to Munnar and has an elephant camp very close by for a ride to the river. Must stay home stay.

Cosy little homestay about a half an hour away from Munnar town. The rooms are clean, spacious and have incredible views from the balconies. Although we did not stay here, Joe and his family were very welcoming when we came here for our meals. They even invited us for their New Year celebration. Joe, you made our trip that much more special! The place is done up beautifully and I hope to stay here the next time I'm in munnar.
