The food was too spicy. I'm someone who love spicy food but couldn't handle the spiciness of food provided here. It was okay okay. I wouldn't suggest that this is the best place.
Nice food. It's a small shop. However the taste of the food is good. Some Cons are limited seats only. No parking available. Other things are just perfect. Because of limited seats we have to wait some time.
This is our second visit and I felt that the quality and taste of food has degraded substantially. There had been a long wait (which is acceptable) and the seating area is small and accommodates max 15 at a time.
Parking is another issue as you have to wander a bit.
Mouth watering pazhankanji (a day old rice porridge) served with crushed shallots, chillies, tapioca, curd and pickle. Sides are dried fish fry, fish curry and bird eye chillies. More than enough quantity for a person.
This is a hotel being exclusively run by women. Their signature fish is പഴങ്കഞ്ഞി. The hotel is situated on the bund road at Killipalam, Trivandrum. Immediately after the Killipalam bridge, turn to the left while coming from Chalai area and one will find the outlet about 500 metres from the main road. The പഴങ്കഞ്ഞി is served in clay pots accompanied with fishcurry (usually Tuna) with dry fish fry fry. The പഴങ്കഞ്ഞി is a mixture of rice and കഞ്ഞിവെള്ളം laced with ഉടങ്കോല്ലി chilly, curd and cut mango pickle. Very tasty dish. You mix everything together and enjoy a sumptuous meal. If you feel that it is not hot enough, they provide കാന്താരി also.
The only main course available is Pazhamkanji, served in earthern dishes. The fermented gruel is mixed with buttermilk, crushed chilli, tapioca. The dish has accompaniments of fish curry and fried dry-fish sauted in onion. The fish curry is very hot and spicy. Additionally, you have 'kandhari-mulaku' if you want it even hotter until your nose waters. The shop also offers chicken perattu and fish dishes as per availability. Because the overall taste is very hot and spicy, you may need to calm your tongue with a sweetmeat 'Pal-kova' at the end. The quantity is sumptuous and costs less than 100 for a lunch. The shop is small dingy roadside and hardly has three tables which are always occupied with customers. The parcel service is available, but eating from earthern and may not be comfortable for upmarket
Nice food. Limited seat only.but affordable and true to its authentic taste. Parking is a big issue. Have to walk (cant get best food without any effoert.so walking seems to be fine for the quality and taste they provide) gpay is available. I loved the place
Spicy and delicious #Pazhamkaji. #Pazhamkaji itself served with fish curry and dryfish fry, no extra money need to pay for it. Quantity is high, one person cant easily finish it. Better you order with less quantity. For parking no space is there, have to park car or bike congested road side. It is a small enterprise with capacity of 12* seats.
It is famous for kanji. A bowl full of kanji, tapioca, pickles, fish curry, buttermilk, chili is mouth watering. The rice is unlimited. Dries fish fry is also available along with. Highly recommended.
Although "Pazhamkanji" is meant to be a break fast item in Kerala, you should not come here before 12 p.m. You won't get served. In the meanwhile you can listen to radio news, remevering your child hood. Atmosphere is good and provided clean tables. Food was not up to the mark it was so spicy and salty. We never able to tolerate it. Please bring your curcheief if you want to go there. Price was too high. It's not worth for the money. And no special items. I suggest Pazhamkanji kada best.
Fish curry excellent, but pazham kanji rice is low quality like ration rice, it's better rice be replaced to Chamba rice. For parcel very high price is levied. Another one thing fish curry alone not parcelled.but with pazhamkanji only.that's not good
Love this place since we get good and quality 'pazhamkanji'. The word itself make us a watery mouth. The facilities there are not so good to accommodate more than 15 persons, but still the quality and taste of food will bring you there. Surely a good place to turn to your 90s food and to take a break from junk foods.
An Amazing place to burn your mouth and lips ️ Awesome Pazhamkanji and Dry fish fry and Choora Curry. The Small Green chili is the highlight. Amazing food should try atleast one time ️
Been there for over 5 years and the wannabe Moopilans (pazham kanji is just one among their dishes) surrounding the real one is now a common site. Last time around pazham kanji set cost me INR 80. This includes Pazham kanji mixed with curd and topped with hot chilli (big one), tapioca, dry fish, fish curry. Served in traditional clay vessel. NB: remove the green chilli before eating.
This is the shop where you can have the traditional Kerala dish "porridge" in Malayalam its " പഴങ്കഞ്ഞി". Infact it's a delicious food for those physical hard workers. Best food for anyone in which our immune system will improve.
Nice place for pazham kanji. It is too spicy. Keep when you eat and if you don't like to taste spice dont go there. Well it is very nice for one try.but the meen curry the best
Uff.
Pazhamkanji (one day old rice broth) may have centuries of skeptical tales to tell.owing to the taste and typical flavour when it is served with fermented curd and pickles fish curry and raw chilly.it has been the traditional cuisine of the poor.well I am not here to spare the history.anyways had my taste buds experience enchanting taste reminder of my childhood and my grandmother's skills in preparation of this special food extravaganza called *pazhamkanji* Three things to keep in mind.while visiting the place 1. Food contents are highly spicy.people with sensitive stomach please be cautious 2. Kanji is served in clay pots u break it u pay for it, 3.dont expect a posh setup.it's clean and well kept.and u may have to wait a bit.but it's worth it. Four stars cause I did waited for more than 45 minutes Special mention to the tuna curry.epic!
A small setup. A meal contains of pazhamkanji (one day old rice broth), kappa (tapioca), thairru (curd from soured milk), achar (mango pickle), all in a big earthen bowl, karivadu (dried and fried fish) and a fish curry. Cost 80rs. Taste: 10/10. This is not a business setup. Just a courteous lady working from a small shop. She probably doesnt even know the praise she receives here. Parcel service available. While i was settling my bill, i watched as she prepared a parcel for an old well ro do man. He probably earned for the nostalgia of it all. All in all this is the place to go if u want to have a trip down memory lane.
The food they provide is very tasty. Pazham kanji is mixed with kappa (tapioca) and mango pickle then served in a clay bowl. Along with that, fish fry and onion is also served. The price for 1 piece is 80 Rs.
Shop is located at the Bund road in TVM town. Approx 2km from Tvm railway station.
Just loved it. Pazhamkanji was super. * Just 500m from the main road. *Can go to attukal temple on the same road. *Seating is limted to 15 members. * Rush at afternoon. *Pazhamkanji is the special item in here. * Order can be placed in zomato. *Easily seen in traffic. * Within 1km from karamana.
