Neat and simple restaurant on NH 66. Traditional Kerala food menu. Tasty dishes. Due less people commuting nowadays, not all items are available. Breakfast ready as early as 7 am. Ample parking space. Nice staff. Clean toilets.

The guy at counter is very rude.
I threw waste in the dustbin of the restuarant.
He was shouting insanely why you throw garbage in garbage bin.

A living shadow of a tasty past. I had first come to mother’s kitchen during my college days and the taste I experienced never left my mouth. Today I came here to relive that taste again only to be disappointed. The cost in no ways could justify the experience. No other options other than meals, limited side dish for the meals and a completely average tasting fish and chicken fry. May be its the pandemic scenario or it may be some other reason.but overall a two star itself is kind of overrated.

Cheating the customers
I ordered 4 sadyas online on 19-5-2019. In 2 packs many items like pickles, payasam, banana and few curries were missing. That means they delivered 2 sadyas and 2 ordinary meals. Also ada-payasam was not at all tasty. Banana was too small. All curries are not as tasty as in the marriage sadyas. Non-Keralites who did not eat original Kerala sadya may find their sadya as great by seeing the variety of items in their sadya. But taste wise their sadya is worst.

Very bad experience. 1/2 manikoor wait cheytha shesham kittiyath thanutha bakshanangal quantity valare kurav.rate valare kooduthal.this is my first and last experience in mother's kitchen.

Earlier i suggested this restaurant to many from our contacts.but now I can't do so.because the food quality went down.quantity too.they are charging 200rs.for a fish curry meals. It will just cost maximum 70 at any hotel outside.an Ayala fry cost rs. 140 and it was like a charcoal.

Now it's just an overhyped place with low quality and quantity food.

But service quality and customer service is pathetic and aweful. No proper staff available to serve the customer. Cost of food is double the price compared to ordinary restaurants but no staff available to serve you better (Veg Lunch costs Rs. 160/- but you get the same quantity, have to ask everytime for additional quantity). It seems to be a family run business without any professionalism. Waiting time is sometimes upto 25-30 minutes.

Good potential but change in attitude is required.

Place to a homely food. An old house transformed to a restaurant means that you don't have long and elaborate dining halls. But it has an ambeince of its own and no others can match. Good and simple food where you can stop over by the highway

The Cherratta puttu and Beef curry combination are awesome. First time in my life are this delicious puttu. Also the caring of the service man also Better. Shortly Good restaurant.

Situated on national highway stretch from trivandrum to kochi, you can find this restaurant after karunagapally town on the left while you travel to kochi. You can get all authentic KERALA cuisines. Place may be small and not glamorous, but food is 5 star and reasonable prices.

From outside Mother's Kitchen looks like a just another house, with a few round tables set in the courtyard. They have a rather quaint garden setting. When you go inside you see a wide variety of photographs of famous people who ate there Naom Chomsky included, some excerpts from Malayalam literature and a very homely atmosphere. Same goes for the food.just the way your mom would make. My family and I had dropped in for lunch. Lunch menu has vegetarian and non vegetarian meals costing 160 and 200 respectively. I took the vegetarian meal which had almost all the Kerala sadya dishes. The portion size is perfect and unlike most places where u feel too full because of the soda they add, the food here was simply comforting. Rather friendly staff from the security to the servers. They have quite clean washrooms and also sell some of the quintessential Kerala snacks like murukku, banana cake, ariunda and also chammandi podi, Ginger candy along with Magazines. They also have a small collection of books that customers can read.

Used to be a great place to eat local cuisine. It still is but had lost some of its charm. Good is still good, not great at it used to be. The exotic foods dont come by that easily any more. Convenient acess from the highway in both directions, courteous and friendly service, reasonable price.

Authentic Kerala Resturant with a homely ambience. Now a days, the food quality is not appreciable with the old days. Price also very high, fish curry meals cost around INR 200

We had a halt and enjoyed the food from this restaurant once. The Owner Manager, and the staff helped us by babysitting with the kids while we were having food. Always grateful for such a hospitality and concern towards the clients. Highly appreciated and loved to have our dining at this restaurant.

Good authentic tasty food. Feels like it's prepared at home. Tryout the idiappam and egg roast. The owner of the restaurant is very courteous person.must visit place of you are traveling from Trivandrum to Cochin.

Food is just too good to be true but the ambient air is a bit foul. Reason seems to be the restaurant being a seafood oriented one. But no doubt the food is

Such a dirty place. I bought konchu (prawn) chamanthi. It had no taste of konchu nor was it clean. It has shell pieces and also plastic pieces in the chamanthi. It's 200rs which is 4 dollars Aussie worth poison. I hope health inspectors inspect this place. Totally unacceptable place. It's house not a restaurant. You could give -10 for the ambiance. And 100 percent for getting diarrhea. I also bought banana fry, that's like death wish. Parippu vada, think twice before you order it also the jug of water they keep there. Open it for SURPRISE.

Have been visiting this restaurant regularly since past 12 years. Love the homely feel it has and also the good food. Their lunch meals (fish) is always the best. So is their Mutta roast with idiyappam and kattan chhaya. It's a house converted into a restaurant with ample seating, service and clean toilets. It has one AC room with around 16-20 seats. The remaining restaurant can seat upto 50 people on the ground floor. Ample space and happy ambience. Everything about is gives a homely feel, even after all these years.
They even sell their own brand of chamanthipodi (dry coconut and prawn chutney powder), puttu podi, chocolates & candies, other dry snack items, books and magazines.
Our most-preferred pit-stop during our Ernakulam-Trivandrum regular drives in all these 12 years.
