Excellent service and location. Fantastic spa! Fabulous breakfast spread. Options in restaurant should Include some more authentic Kerala cuisine and dining experiences.
Make sure before booking to confirm whether the room you book is on ground level or up from a flight of stairs as that can be an issue for older people/ people with joint issues or wheelchair/walker.
I booked the resort at the last minute encouraged by the fact that they have a package for solo women travelers. What a good decision it turned out to be! It is a wonderful property and very well managed. Entire management follows old world hospitality - courteous, friendly but never intrusive. They went out of way to meet my requirements whether it was vegetarian food options or boat rides. Would like to mention their outstanding spa managed by Dr. Vinija - a very competent and polite young lady. Chef Aman Islam prepared gourmet meals - every dish was fresh, aromatic and authentic. Evening cultural program was also outstanding. The rooms have superb view of the lake.
My recent stay at Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters & Beyond in Kumarakom was nothing short of magical. This retreat is a true gem in the heart of the backwaters.
The setting is breathtaking, surrounded by serene backwaters and lush greenery. The luxurious cottages are elegantly designed, offering privacy and comfort with a touch of traditional Kerala architecture.
The highlight of my stay was the impeccable service. The staff here is incredibly attentive and friendly, always ensuring that guests feel pampered and at home.
The food at the restaurant was a culinary delight, with a variety of local and international dishes. Dining by the backwaters added to the charm.
The wellness and spa facilities were world-class. The Ayurvedic treatments were rejuvenating, and the yoga sessions were a great way to start the day.
Exploring the backwaters on a traditional houseboat arranged by the resort was a unique experience. It allowed me to witness the beauty of Kumarakom from a different perspective.
Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters & Beyond is not just a place to stay; it's an experience that rejuvenates your body and soul. If you're looking for a peaceful and luxurious retreat in Kumarakom, I highly recommend this haven. I can't wait to return.
The property is beautiful and the staff is absolutely amazing! The hospitality begins at the welcome drink and continues through during the evening shows, spa and meals at the restaurant. No request goes un noticed! Would recommend to anyone looking for relaxation and pampering.
I had a very pleasant experience at Niraamaya. My flight was delayed and management was very much accommodating. As a vegan, I was pleased with the food, the service by the kitchen and restaurant staff, especially Jose who went above and beyond suggesting alternatives.
Spa staff was also marvelous and friendly, especially the Spa doctor. I recommend you try it a couple times at least.
The resort grounds are not as big as I anticipated, so you should check out Amirtha Ayurveda nearby and the Kumarakom Lake Resort next door, and enjoy a walk around the area (just stay off the main road as much as possible).
Not much in the way of shopping. Pack some extra snacks.
We were very disappointed by Niramayaa. It aspires to be an excellent hotel, but we felt it was not value for money. A) Its overly expansive. B) The food was pitiful and so was the service and stuff of the hotel. C) The room we had with a plunge pool was extremely dark (so much so that even during broad daylight we had to turn on the lights), with no view of the beautiful surrounding and with a highly loud air condition propellor from our room and the entire hotel. D) the ambience in the hotel feels secluded and alienated.
This is one of a kind property located in the lake or backwater front. They named each rooms instead of numbering. Lovely huge rooms ours needed room freshners as we were told they had a paint touch up. In my reading they should have hold off this room till all paint smell disappeared. Lovely property with a heated out door pool. I was told the ground floor rooms have private pools. The first floor room had beautiful 180 degrees of lake views. Huge bathrooms. All rooms have local architecture touch. They had inhouse bharat nadiyam dance by a local talent. She performed three different acts enjoyed it.
We stayed at a Superior Villa (Lake View) for 2 nights at this resort after a 2- week hectic around South India. We always like to end our trips abroad with a relaxing stay (with not much activities) and this resort was an excellent choice for just that. We received a great welcome upon arrival and were swiftly checked in and shown to our “villa”, which was a spacious room located on the first floor of a building. It has a huge, long balcony and the view of the green lawn, trees and flower plants was a really soothing one.
Unfortunately, the furniture in the room was a little sparse. The chairs were upright and uncomfortable, and the table too low for any useful purposes. Given the available space, a comfortable sofa or 2-seater chairs would have been more functional and comfortable for the guests. The bed and mattress were great, though. Shower was strong and the water was hot. Good quality toiletries were provided for, and sufficient towels were also available.
Housekeeping was a bit haphazard. The staff did not come and clean our room until way past 2pm, and by then, we had wanted to use the room and had to wave them away. They should have been trained to clean the rooms when guests are having their breakfast or at the very latest, lunch.
We had most of our meals at the only restaurant of the resort, and had no complaints about the food. Shoutout to the very efficient staff who served us, Amalraj and Babu Francis, and kudos to the chef, Jomu, who always come around our table to ensure that everything is alright.
My husband had a massage at their Spa, and he said the service was excellent.
This resort certainly has a lot of potential. The spaciousness of its rooms and the meticulous grounds around the resort are its plus points. They just have to add some comfortable seats and improve on their housekeeping to make it perfect.
The stay at Niraamaya was very comfortable. The rooms are extremely spacious and cozy with different options to chose from. We were also offered complimentary upgrade with private pool. The food is delicious too. Thanks for the amazing service and hospitality.
Chef Anadhu is amazing cook and hotel staff is very cooperative.we gone there as big family and lots of if and buts but staff was very cooperative and fulfilled our choices.babu Francis, Albin, sivas all were amazing
The resort is beautiful and very peaceful. You get a wonderful view of the lake. The chej Jomon and his team ensured the meals were tasty. Highly recommend.
Best service I've received in a long time, excellent food and beautiful, well-maintained grounds.
Would 100% recommend staying here again. We visited with my parents and our in-laws and everyone from my 10-year old nephew to my 68-year old father in law enjoyed the time at the resort.
We stayed at the lake-view rooms which were massive. Bedframes were a bit too high for the older generation so the hotel staff was kind enough to bring a stool. Pool is great too and dinner was quick to be served and came out all at once so we were actually able to eat together at the same time which for family nights out is super important to me.
We stayed with our family for two nights in this resort and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were spacious, luxurious and clean. We booked rooms with a private pool, which is a good enough size to relax in. The hotel is surrounded by nature, and we saw many species of birds and butterflies.
Food at the hotel was very good, with a large spread of food for breakfast and fresh food for lunch and dinner. A special mention goes to the chef, who catered very well with his team for the Jain member of our group.
We enjoyed using other facilities at the hotel, including the spa, the boutique shop, the daily cultural programs and the pool. The service was also amazing, with very helpful and friendly members of staff.
Overall, we found this hotel a fantastic place to stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to Kumarakom.
My advice would be to STAY AWAY from this resort. As my 3 year old daughter fell suddenly sick, we repeatedly requested the resort to provide us (as an exception) alternate dates (Any alternate dates). They initially accepted the change, makemytrip sent us a confirmation of the new dates and after few hours informed us that no change is possible (even if you move by 6 months) as the hotel went back on its words (Their version is someone from the hotel gave us the confirmation by mistake). I cant believe how unethical they are in doing business. I lost a whopping total of 68000Rs for this mistake of booking with them. I understand there are policies, but there are also exceptional situations and if you are in hospitality industry, you must respect that. Would never step foot on any of their properties again!
This review is not on the basis on my stay, this about the enquiry about the rooms and for a engagement event. No response from the end of the staff. They behave like not choose this place. My worst experience!
Loved the ambience. Food was really good. Very senic place. The whole property is well maintained with carefully chosen plants that adds to the beauty. Pools are well maintained. Had great view of the backwaters from the pool from villa named Tharavadu
Points to improve would be timely response to customer requests. Please be proactive in checking with customers atleast once a day to prevent multiple simultaneous adhoc requests.
Conducting events may be very important to you but please do not let go of the needs of other esteemed customers at the property
Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters was above our expectations, we really enjoyed our stay here. During these pandemic times we were looking for a safe and hygienic place where we can spend some quality time with our little one. Niraamaya fulfilled everything that we were looking for. The food, the place, the view, the staff, the safety measures everything were perfect.
Stayed at the premium villa with private pool. Nice ambience. Very friendly staff. Good to take break in such places once in a while.had an amazing stay with husband and my 18mnth old toddler. Home away from home feel. Food menu options can me improved though.
Top notch service and hospitality. Good food with best quality and awesome taste, the presentation was an add on to it. We haven't left the place for two full days, I would say it's the most beautiful way to connect with nature. Since there were some lockdown restrictions we weren't able to get the house boat ride. Would definitely visit this place as frequent as possible.
Had an amazing stay! Superb location, well maintained property with all the possible amenities. Food is exceptional in quality and the staff is there to help if you need any!
The staff and ambience at the retreat ensured a relaxing, stress-free holiday. Chef anishkumar amazing Kerala food specially curated, Ayurvedic massage superb.
First to the good part, the staff was really helpful and good. Our room Periyar, probably had the best views of all the rooms. Food was pretty good too. Now the bad part, the resort is run down, poorly planned, not worth the price.
We are from cochin and we often lookout for places in and around cochin for staycations. Now coming to the point, at first instance we found the place decent. Having been to Samroha, our expectations were high. We parked our car and checked in. The checkin was smooth, thanks to the team at the reception. What then followed was completely unexpected. Their was a heavy rain and the room in which we were to stay started to leak. On a bad day, anything can happen and it can happen to anyone. Luckily Mr. Mridul from customer care came and did everything possible to make good for what we had to go through. We were immediately shifted to a different villa and were taken care in the best possible way. Kudos to Mr. Mridul and Mr. Anish (Chef) for going out of the way to make our stay memorable. We enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks to Mr. Abin the steward and Ms. Shilpa for helping us around.
We being #familytravellers were on the lookout for some activities. This place has just a handful of things to do inside. You can either walk around, take a dip in the #Swimmingpool, play with the #ducks or feed the fishes. Overall a great stay. Withholding one star so that they would take extra measures and be prepared for any eventualities. My son who is 4 years old loved the place. Am sure, so will yours.
Courteous staff, unbelievable yummy food, pool side rooms are really spacious and great view of the backwater. The SPA experience could have been better. Overall really enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again.
We went as family during Covid times. We had a great time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had come in batches and the staff took utmost to explain all the details to all of us in person maintaining the Covid protocols. The rooms specially the Luxury Pool Room was very neat and tidy and the access to the plunge pool helped alot for all us to relax and spend time as a family. The pool was of decent size and usable.
Beautiful property. The food was excellent and it added to the lovely experience at the resort. The staff was courteous and full COVID protocol was followed. It was really neat and clean. The view from the resort overlooking the lake was breathtaking.
Staying here for three nights, at presidential suite with pool, it's mesmerizing, one of the best place I can think living in kerla, can't thank enough to chef anish who is not leaving any stone unturned for personal care, personal touch to make u feel like home, food is delicious. Mridul the manger has taken care to best for everything, with personal calls special thanks to him. Looking forward to recommend, though already done that, would love coming here every year.
Excellent ambiance, delicious food and super personal touch. Cheers keep it up.
I just loved the natural beauty out there. It was a treat to both eyes and soul. So peaceful so lovely so exciting and lovely weather. I would like to visit again and live there for good few days. It was just so soothing for the soul and body.
1. Excellent Customer Service especially of their Manager Mr. Ashok who was our POC. 2. Conducted a wedding yesterday in the resort this covid season and all arrangements were stress and hassle free including all covid protocol with the local authorities taken care of. Good place for destination wedding. 3. Food was exceptional, thanks to the Chef who catered to our every need. 4. Priced premium, but you do get premium service and value for money spent. 5. Rooms are incredible especially the pool rooms with a breathtaking view.
Would love to visit the resort again sometime in future.
I've been with my friend lately at the resort. We enjoyed our stay for the 3 nights we spent. Staff is so helpful and the hospitality they show is outstanding. Spa facilities and treatments is amazing. The hotel is kind of far (2hours drive) from the airport. No activities at the surrounding except the boating which was nice experience. It is the place to relax and have a peaceful mind
