Rose Gardens

We loved every bit of our stay here - from the pre-exchanges via email, to the warm welcome, the beautiful, generous room with the lovely balcony on which we had our teas and breakfast, to the already much commented spice garden and stunning flowers all over the garden! We can’t forget the delicious cooking class. But above all, we loved the warm interaction with the whole family who made our stay so special and unforgettable.

Beautiful homestay about 30 min from Munnar! Comfortable rooms and excellent service, but unfortunately for 8000 a night heavily overpriced! The same quality can be found nearby for half the price!

I had a fantastic stay at Rosegardens. Dileep and his family are wonderful hosts and the garden is spectacular. There’s no surprise they are award winning. All the meals were delicious and breakfast was served on the veranda overlooking the garden.

A perfect haven, highly recommend spending a few peaceful nights here and taking advantage of the location to walk through the cardamom plantation. Dileep gave me a driving tour of Munnar and it’s surrounds. Spent the evenings reading a book on the veranda, listening to the sounds of the forest.

Very nice staying here. A quiet place with beautiful, big rooms and bathroom and a superbe terras to see the garden and hear the sound of nature. We were here very happy, me and my children of 16 and 17 years. The accomodation was very good. We enjoyed the very good food! The best cook of Kerala is here! We had great days discovering the surrondings. Thanks to you all, the very nice family for this nice days holiday at your place!

A warm welcome, traditional and very good cuisine (it is the mother and the daughter-in-law who cook). A very good score for Luca, incredible at 2 years old. A real discovery of the garden, and the nursery of plants, cardamom, nutmeg, lychee, avocado, begonia, beautiful people to discover urgently. You absolutely have to taste the honey produced on site.

I cannot begin to to explain how wonderful this homestay is. It was the final stop on our three week trip around southern India and we couldn't think of a better way to finish.
The family are incredibly welcoming and lovely! We were greeted, shown to our spacious and serene room, given tea and plum cake which we enjoyed on the balcony looking out over the luscious spice garden. We completely understood why the homestay has won so many accolades.
We were then given a tour or the garden, where we saw cinnamon trees, avocado trees, vanilla, cardamon, pineapple and much much more. After which, we opted for the cooking class which was taken by the matriarch of the family!
The family were incredibly helpful with organising laundry, taxis and much more. We hope to find our way back to this place in the future!
10/10 would recommend to everyone.

This family are great hosts, cooks and botnaists - their home is a joy to stay in because it is surrounded by one of the most impressive private gardens in India, lovingly cultivated by three generations and going strong. It's a great base to explore Munnar from, and take their advice on what to do and see instead of listening solely to the guidebook.

Had such a relaxing time here! The family are all very welcoming and helpful, and we enjoyed many conversations with them and with the other guests. We had a large room overlooking the garden and valley beyond, and spent many an hour on the veranda outside our room looking at the beautiful plants and birds that they attract. The meals were tasty and varied, and it was such a change to be sat around the big table chatting to other guests (all our other accommodations on this trip were in hotels with very little interaction). We took advantage of their car and driver, taking a trip out to a wildlife reserve, and then arranging a transfer to Madurai, our next destination. Also bought lots of their wonderful spices to bring home!

We enjoyed our time at Rose Gardens very much. The whole family were so welcoming, the rooms were lovely, the beds were the most comfortable anywhere, and we had delicious breakfasts and dinner. We had come for long walks through tea and cardamom plantations and the family suggested a route and dropped us at the beginning, perfect. Tomy’s tour around his amazing garden and an explanation of all the plants and their uses was fantastic. Also the way they are self sufficient in energy, really interesting. A big thank you.

Munnar Rose Gardens is a nice eco-friendly Home Stay owned and managed by Mr Tomy and family. You can relax at the beautiful garden and premises of the property. Clean and beautifully arranged rooms, very good home cooked food and personal care by Tomy are a few things out of the many pluses of this Homestay.

We had the most beautiful stay at Rosegardens in Munnar. Tomy and his family looked after us so beautifully. We really enjoyed the local walk through the cardamom plantation at sunrise. Cardamom pancakes for breakfast were incredible, and we had to buy some of Raji's pineapple jam to take home! Tomy's tour of his garden was just divine.
Sijo gave us a reasonable, and very comfortable, ride back to Fort Kochi.
We can't wait to return!

We went for dinner at this gorgeous home stay in Munnar. The family were incredibly welcoming and made it such a special experience for us. The food was amazing and a gorgeous variety of local food handmade especially for us. Lovely way to get to know some other travellers, as we sat around a communal table. 100% recommended, and would love to go back again soon.

Amazing cooking for breakfast and dinner from Raji which included a demonstration. Great walk arranged for us and a lovely tour of the gardens. Tomys knowledge of all the fruit, veg and spices was a real treat. We ended up buying coffee, pepper & cardamom to take home for presents.
Definitely could have stayed longer that the two days we were there. Would recommend to anyone for a very high standard homestay.

This is a wonderful homestay. Not perfect but excellant. The hospitality by Dileep and his family is 5 star maybe even 6 star. The room we had at the back of the home was very comfortable and I give it 4 stars (Showing age and not spotless). The dinner's which we paid for were excellant Indian food and very good value. We asked for Indian food (we can get western food at home) and the Indian breakfasts was excellant like the dinners. All up I think 4.5 which I happily round up to a 5.

Lovely stay with Tommi and his family. The rooms are spacious and clean, with beautiful outdoor space looking at the nursery. The tour of the garden was fantastic and the breakfast delicious, especially the pineapple jam

A genuine homestay experience provided by the three gentlemen, the 3-Ds, and parents.
Their home nestles in the midst of a 2-acre plantation about 12 km from the Munnar town.
Fresh clean rooms and clean spacious bathrooms, a wholesome breakfast serving authentic Kerala cuisine.
The hospitable family sees right down to the smallest comfort of their guests.
A walk through the plantation is refreshing. Waking up to the call of birds is an experience we carried back with us to Bangalore.

Welcomed with gentle, open arms my partner and I felt incredibly lucky throughout our duration of stay at Rosegardens.

Dileep, Tomy and their exuberant driver are thoroughly honest, helpful and outgoing. Their knowledge of the area is extensive and are able to curate experiences based on what you’re looking for. In an ideal location close to tea plantations, their own cardamom plantation’s and top spots to visit in Munnar and the surrounding areas you’d be hard pressed to find a better spot for exploring the best experiences Munnar has to offer

The rooms are beautiful, spacious and well-kept and all look out onto the gardens and nursery beyond and whether it’s morning, noon or night the scenes of the garden you look out onto promises to be captivating no matter the weather

Whether it’s breakfast or dinner every culinary moment at Rosegardens is always impressive. From homegrown cardamom teas and their very own beautiful hand-picked, home roasted coffee each tea break is a delight.

Their homemade breakfasts and dinners are soul warming with vibrant, generous flavours and textures and even in fine-dining restaurants you’d be hard pressed to find better table food nor table service than the Tomy family provide.

An absolute plus of staying at the with the Tomy family at Rosegardens was the soundtrack of the very many birds, the occasionally curious wild roaming animals and the gentle soundtrack of the rolling hills surrounding you

If you’re looking for some of Munnars best home-cooked meals, an incredibly welcoming homestay with a wealth of knowledge and guidance to experience the best parts of Munnar around you; I wouldn’t look anywhere else than the Rosegardens

Lovely warm homely guest lodge. Beautiful gardens and nursery. Cooking classes offered by the wife. Nursery run by knowledgable owner. Magnificent plants and herbs.

We absolutely loved our stay with Dileep and his family. The rooms are clean and spacious, the garden has a huge variety of plans, but the best of all is their family's hospitality. We highly recommend having dinner in the homestay, as the food is locally-sourced absolutely delicious!

Rose garden is located around 6 kms from Munnar town en-route top station. The place is well maintained with a reasonably good variety of flowering plants, including some of the rarer species too. You can get some nice and colorful pictures clicked. Plants are available for sale too, but they may be a bit pricey. This is the best garden by Kerala department. Lot of variety of flowers. But i always remember this place as one of the best photoshoot of life. Manikanan is he best photographer. But be little far from him bcus if your wife is beautiful than he will take his pic with her also.

Visited to buy plants. The owner was friendly. Amazed to find the jade vine in blooms. U hv to see it to believe it

Tomy ans his family are wonderful hosts! The location is marvelous within a spice platation and flower nursery. The food is delicious. We highly recommend.

Nice place to visit. This place has flower nursery especially for rose flowers. They are providing stay option as well for the tourists. Have to book earliest for staying here. Location is very nice to stay and ultimate view point from here. If you want to enjoy the nature of Munnar hills then this place very nice option. But self transport vehicle needed to visit here because this route has minimal public transport. But cab service is available at Munnar.

This is not the actual rose garden of munnar, it's just a small nursery and will charge you 50 Rs as a entry fee. Please do not visit

The main factor which attracted me here is the variety of bigonias.i bought a few.no negotiations for priced.even though a small garden.but well maintained.an very pleasant to watch

We liked this place very much as situated close to the view point and Hydel Park. Having many species of Roses, Cactus, Bonsai etc. It's a major attraction of Munnar. Entry is not free but quite affordable. In this garden all visitors get special smile. A Vanasree Ecoshop is run by Forest Department.

As name suggests it is the garden of rose.
One cannot imagine the number of varieties of roses possible on this planet.
You will be able to find too many varieties of roses beyond your imagination.
This place is the paradise for lovers.
This is the biggest tourist attraction in Munnar, Kerala.

Stayed there because of Lonely Planet's great review. Pretty house and beautiful gardens, but I think the price - at least twice more than most of homestays around Munnar - is not justified. The level of cleanliness was just acceptable and we felt as if the owners were pushing to have things (e.g. Tuk-tuk trips, visit to tea factory) organised by them - I suspect they might get a commission for that.

One of the best home stay awarded by both state government of kerala and central government of India. Garden touring and the homely food they offered was really memorable for a life time. View of deer above the rock was very nice. Strongly recommend this place for all nature lovers who visiting munnar.

A good place to visit with Family and friends in Munnar. I visited with my wife during our Kerala trip and its just a nice place. You can find a wide variety of flower here and good area for photo lovers. You have to pay small amount here for cameras and phones to bring inside to click photos.

This homestay has received awards and many outstanding reviews, and I can understand why.
The family run their own taxi service, and can help with sightseeing tours and arrival and onward journeys.
They have listened to their guests, and the food is cooked more to European tastes than Indian. Breakfast was, as a result, disappointing. Generous portions are served.
The family and their team are friendly and helpful. Our escorted walk - we were followed by a tuk tuk - was initially unsettling but proved invaluable when we ran out of steam on the long climb through the tea plantations.
A range of options for visits was made by our hosts, but this proved limited when compared to, for example, suggestions in the forest authority's leaflet.
The homestay is some distance from Munnar, in one direction, and Pambumkayam in the other, so transport is required if one wishes to go anywhere.
Full marks to our drivers, who looked after us on our journeys. The impact of the floods and heavy rainfall last August was brought home to us when one revealed is home had been lost in a landslide. Work continues here and elsewhere in Kerala to repair the damage.
