Salkara Restaurant, Railway Station, Kozhikode

It was good before. Now the food quality is very poor and not hygienic. Y'day night I bought chkn biriyani parcel from here and it was so bad that I couldn't eat.irctc counter is near and is cheaper and better.

Edit: Had chicken Biriyani from here few days back. It's no more the same old one: (the chicken itself looks brown in color and tastes strange!
Also No egg, no pappad along with this 200 Rupees Biriyani!

Always a busy place. Because of the food they serve. If u are traveling via kozhikode, don't buy biriyani from the train. Get down here and u get a tastey Biriyani parcel from here within seconds! Get the half Biriyani which is sufficient for 1 person.
Dont panic, trains have 2 minutes stop here.

Idiyapam and kadala curry is very delicious. Food is available at the restaurant at 5 am. There is no compromise in terms of cleanliness and neatness, even if there is a slight lack of seating comfort. It is always very crowded in the morning

One star is for the restaurant manager. Ordered chicken biriyani to train. Couldn't find the delivery guy when I reached station. Called the restaurant and the person on the other side started shouting. People like this spoil the name of the restaurant.

You can't miss this when you are at Kozhikode Railway station. Their biriyani is a must try.

They delivered to my compartment. I called them and placed the order. They delivered it on time when the train reached the station. Happy with their service.

Just received my ordered biriyani from salkara in a well packed and good temperature condition. It was delicious to eat and delivered on time just by a call.
But still I am confusing about the recipe that used for chicken masala (it's chicken but taste like mutton- by the way I really liked it)
Please let me know what type of pickle which you guys included in the biriyani box. I think it's dates pickle.

It's not comparison it's far better the biriyani which I had from Lulu paragon restaurant.

Good food considering it is inside the railway station but the biriyanis quantity and quality is just average comparing to the price

Fraud Alert

Ordered 21 food packets and they delivered only 18 packets. Billed us for 21 packets. We checked with them, they said 6 packets in 3 covers was delivered and i asked for refund and they said its 7 packets in 3 covers. Cheaters not responding to calls

When I felt hungry from Kozhikode railway station I never chose a second option always prefer Salkara restaurant. You would get delicious meal with fish curry just for 89 rupees. The only problem was the seating capacity of this restaurant was too low. Because of this seating capacity you May wait a little y to caught your favourite food. They serve chicken biriyani, Vegetable biriyani, meals with fish curry etc etc. The attitude towards customers was good. So when you are in Kozhikode railway station chose Salkara definitely your stomach felt that different taste and quality.

Food was delivered at the coach entrance on time. We need to call and place order 30 mins before train reaching at Calicut.

Food wasnt very tasty as expected from Paragon group. Very average chicken Biriyani.
Packaging was good

They serve good quality food. Might have to wait for a while to get a seat due to rushes if you're dining-in.

I am a little surprised with myself to give a 1 star for salkara. Please note the review is only based on the item I ordered.

We did a takeaway for breakfast with appam and mutta curry. The appams were okay, but the gravy was terrible. Not something that I would expect from a very popular restaurant. Not sure if they have a separate menu for the railway outlet.

For 7 members group the food was ordered here and for 2yr old toddler, bought idli from nearby restaurant because they dont provide idli or dosa. But the incharge asked us to remove the outside food though we insist that the food was for the baby. After repeated request, he allowed half-heartedly. As a mother, i lost my appetite because of this inhumane tendency showed by the reputed restaurant. Because of the group, we couldn't leave the place too. We are from other state, because of English, we communicated and requested, if we were not good at it, we would have remained pathetic as many others who had the same experience there.

HELL SERVICE ORDERED FROM TRAIN AT CALICUT RAILWAYSTATION THEY TOOK ORDER WAITED AT THE DOOR DIDNT GET FOOD ALSO HAD A NARROW ESCAPE FROM MISSING THE TRAIN WHILE I WAS BOARDING IN AFTER WAITING FOR THE DELIVERY THIUGH I ORDERED AN HOUR BACK AND REMINDED ALSO HELL WITH YOUR SERVICE

Though the place is little crowed, the service is excellent. They serve good food. Situated in the 1st platform of Calicut Railway station. They accept all types of payment. They take online orders and deliver the same at the train.

Chicken biriyani- overpriced 190/-, waste biriyani, salty, dump waste. It s better to take 60-70rs platform biriyani

Didn't expect such service from a restaurant operating in a railway station platform. I called them just half hour before my train reaching in calicut station, and ordered chicken curry along with porotta and chicken biriyani for dinner. I never hope that the guys will be there for delivery on time. But breaking all my expectations delivery boy was there on time near my coach for the delivery. Comparing with railway food the taste was literally mouth watering, delicious and fresh.

Came from ernakulam early morning avoided train food for breakfast, because I had issues with food quality, went to platform 1 from p 4 just to go to a known restaurant, very small place for eating around 10 people can sit, issue is breakfast food they serve ordered iddiyappam and egg curry, iddiyappam is average but egg curry was extremely watery lacked any flavour and a boiled egg just added to gravy, expectations on. Salkara went down extremely for me, lots of biriyani parcels are kept ready for dispersal may be Salkara is not expertise in breakfast food

Very tasty biriyani And service too I had chicken biriyani at 2: 46pm. It tasted very good. Salad and pickle were also tasty. Price was 190.

Had chicken briyani whc was gud taste but with more ghee & had chest discomfort & stomach fullness with less quantity of it.
Can buy food during emergency travel.

The service reminds you of hostile situation a soldier is likely to face in an enemy camp. Never expected such mean behaviour in malabar. The staff are impolite, to put it in a lighter note. Cant even think anything of the food on offer.

I heard about their biriyani. So I thought to try it. I was traveling in Tirunelveli Jamnagar SF on 26th April 2022. I tried to place an order through the phone but nobody answered my repeated calls.

Food is some what ok. But the rate is very high. Normal poeples cannot afford their rate. Simply making big vpst for all tje items. Nothing special. Juz an normal hotel.
Dont know why they charge too much. Normally railways hotels might have less costs than other hotels. But here all opposite.
Meals are having high as compared to other.
