Everything is perfect here. The rooms are very beautiful and clean. View from the room is beautiful. The ayurveda food is very tasty and healthy. Treatments are relaxing and rejuvenating. Good people and good service.

Tried calling several times on their phone number for booking but no one ever picks up.

I can't express my appreciation and gratitude to doctors and therapists of the Ayursoma Hospital and Somatheeram Resort.
Dr. Chandrika Devi's treatment plan has made an unbelievable change to my health and life. And I can't recommend enough my therapist Uma. She performs miracles! We came home totally rejuvenated, feeling at least 10 years younger, with completely different mindset and energy level! I am eternally grateful!

Fantastic genuine friendly and excellent therapy and food. Second time Im there and Ill do my best to do a 2 week stint here every year.first 4-5 days one feels tired, then it's a complete turnaround. I feel calm, strong and energized, totally detoxed and ready for the fall and winter. Thank you to all the fabulous staff.

I happened to stay in Somatheeram ayurveda village for 2 days last week with my family. First of all calling this place as resort doesn’t sound appropriate and ideal way to callout is ayurveda hospital with in-house lodging and food. Majority of the people who stay in resort happen to foreigners (Few Indians too) who has come for 14 or 21 days ayurveda treatments.

With respect to pros of this place:
1. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the cottage rooms near the cliff had decent sea view (Far view)
2. Also this place has a clean and neat swimming pool.
3. The house keeping staff alone was courteous and generous. They were available immediately to address your needs
4. If you are extremely health conscious then this place provides the right kind of menu in their breakfast/ lunch / dinner buffet packages.

Now to the cons:
1. The indifferent attitude shown by reception staff and restaurant staff towards Indians. You will for sure experience the difference in their behaviour and attitude shown towards Indians compared to foreigners. Yes major customers of this place are foreigners I agree but you are running the business in India and should learn to treat all customers equally.
2. Special callout I should mention about reception staff especially the male staffs. Most of the asks initiated to them went unanswered and we got tired of the same
3. No in-house activities available like games for kids or families
4. I am surprised to see there was no TV available in the cottage which was a shocker which I experienced for a first time in a place they call themselves as resort
5. If you are not going for ayurveda treatment then food can become a concern. Given it’s a hospital most of the buffet menus are diet oriented. They happen to have Ala carte option with options but the options are very limited
6. This place doesn’t have restaurant and you have to go to ayursoma (Sister concern present just next to this place). Cemetery is present just next to the restaurant and it felt awkward to dine.
7. Massages - Took rejuvenation massages in this place. The attender was doing hastily and running super fast as if he has flight to catch a flight and ended up finishing the massage 20 mins before the schedule itself. I didn’t really feel any positive impact of the massage whereas on a worst side I happened to get bumps in head scalp 2 days after the massage.

Verdict - Overall this is a place for you only if you are going for ayurveda treatments. If you are planning for a family relaxation or dwelling into nature or dine/enjoy then you should definitely explore other properties in kovalam or Poovar than this place

First of all treatment was magical under the caring masterful hands of this beautiful lady in the picture, Sunitha. After that we were curious to see the rest of this hospital/resort and were given a tour by a gorgeous girl named Sini (also in pics) We were stunned by the woodwork and heart pleasing choices made with the design. If you can efford this, it's a must. It's not just empty show off grandiose "look at me I'm rich" kind of place. It has real class and the staff has a nice vibe to them as well!

Fantastic experience - definitely recommend Ayurvedic treatment for weight loss friendly people, fabulous treatment, great therapists and doctors will be back in 2 years!

A beautiful location on a mountain top to get acquainted with Ayurveda. A private house on the resort with good facilities such as 2 swimming pools. A shop where you can also go for ayurvedic herbs and medicines. The beach is also within walking distance. The food in the restaurant is extensive and there is plenty of choice. In addition, they (Captain) do not hesitate to fulfill any extra wishes in terms of food. Super friendly staff and also medical staff. I had a Ayurveda treatment for 21 days. The treatment was a success thanks to Dr Seena.it feels nice to be here because you feel at home because of the personal which makes you feel like part of Somatheeram's family thanks to Sini (GRE) and many others. A super experience for the 2nd time. Highly recommended.

Even this time my holiday time spend in somatheeram was amazing, I came to this place since 12 years and I was never disappointed. The treatment really custom maid, and the doctor pay attention on your needs. The therapist are very discreet, professional and very friendly like the whole staff restaurant, house keeping, front office. The resort in beautiful garden and beach view. It’s always a pleasure to come back

We had a pleasant stay. Cottages got a very good sea view and it was neat and clean. All the staffs were friendly and professional. We enjoyed our staycation very well. Perfect for friends day out

The resort is nice with good Seaview cottages. More focus given to ayurvedic treatment and had a nice ambience.

The ambience was good. We had taken 3 rooms and the bathrooms in all was not clean. Was full of cockroaches and lizards

If you are looking for a simple yet accomplished place in terms of its Ayurvedic treatments and the right kind of food to go with, then there's no need to look further than Somatheeram Ayurveda Resort. It's a nice and cozy place which will give you all the comfort along with a great environment for ayurvedic treatments.

Very nice location, beautiful view. Room without having a fan quite enough. Green setting, very good service. Ayurvedic food, we do not overdo it. To go to the beach you walk down or ask for a shuttle to the reception and it's free. Good value for this heavenly place.

"Perfect relaxation"
Who wants good and effective Ayurveda treatments in a beautiful environment and is happy about uninterrupted sea noise, is just right. The facility is beautiful. Although there are many stairs, but everything is equipped with ramps. The buffet is very big and tasty, and everything is extremely clean. It feels perfectly taken care of, which may also be expected at the price. The stay at the Somatheeram is a pleasure for body and soul. Attention consistent vegetarians and vegans: one or the other food and medicine here contains egg.

The food was healthy. The docters were kind and friendly. We were living in pleasant surroundings. After one week course i can feel my body became better. It was a fabulous travel.

Just returned from the treatments. This resort is like all others in certain respects. Ocean, pool, cabanas, buffet, night entertainment, spa, checkout time that leaves you hanging while before you leave for the airport:). It differs though. Very positively. In another. The spa is run and marketed as an Ayurvedic hospital. With Yoga centre and meditation as part of each daily treatment. Diet is vegetarian and every Westerner here. Including the meat eating boozer. Love it. Lots of choice and very delicious.
Ayurveda is a form of traditional Indian medicine but way beyond my knowledge so I suggest you check Wikipedia for an idea about it. I was quite cynical / skeptical when I arrived, but now thinking I've been closed minded. The Doctor does a pretty thorough intake. I reported present day upper back issues and stress, with a detailed history of other medical issues. My afflictions aren't the point though. What is interesting is that the treatments.which include poultices, masks, dripping of warm oil, would make many Westerners smirk.are at the very least treating my symptoms very successfully and better than many other treatments. It reminds me of how much acupuncture impressed me. At the minimum I say that Ayurvedic massage is superior to any other form of massage. At the maximum, I have not achieved so much stress/anxiety reduction at a resort.ever. Is that due to other factors other than the Ayurveda? Who knows. Who cares. It's working. If you ever want to get on a plane and come this far, I have no reservations recommending this place.
