The shrimp mango curry and fish curry were delicious! The female clerk was also nice However, it was disappointing that the food was served slowly and there were a lot of flies because we were seated outside. The taste was my favorite here
Gorgeous food, amazingly cheap and very helpful and caring service. It’s run by a husband and wife team. He does most of the cooking and she does front of house. And they both excel. My partner has difficulties with spicy food (not ideal in India) and she’s also lactose intolerant. No problem. We’ll cook it with little spice or no spice at all, said the owner. And she talked us through options with dairy. And it was all done with a smile on the face. The Chicken Dosa and Sambar were really delicious. The Veg Kurma equally so. And the bill was really low. Simple place but hugely recommended.
Its a very small place right opp to the church. A lovely place to snack and the food and quantity was pretty reasonable. We ordered prawns and parotta and beverages and everything was cooked well and served right. While your in Fort Kochi and would love some home cooked meals, you should come over here.
Delicious food in a good price ;) We took mango prawns and the noodles IT was very tasty, one of the best dish we had in India for 2weeks! The only thing is there are no places inside do You should take some spray for mosquitos - but if You have forgotten it doesnt matters because owners have their antimosquitos candles.
We just ate dinner here and the food was delicious- we shared vegetable biryani, Dahl makhani and mango fish curry. This was plenty for 2 people. The service was quick and very friendly, the prices were reasonable. We would definitely return.
Perfect place! The only restaurant in india i came back to (3 times!). Food is so hearty and made with so much love, and the lady who runs the place is very sweet and friendly. Don’t miss if you’re in the area. Oh and order the sharjah shake for dessert! Didn’t know about this one and it was sooo good.
We loved the food at Spice Root Restaurant! It's among our top 3 restaurants in Southern India! They really know how to cook delicious food and the owners are lovely people.
I’d recommend it to everyone. The place is run by a family, and all the staff are very nice and responsive. The menu is multi-cuisine, food is delicious and also cheap. The place was packed when I arrived.
Amazing food, honestly one of the best places in India. Lovely staff that welcomed us with a massive smile and great service everytime. Amazing value for money, delicious Indian food with a fusion touch to it. Please try their delicious coconut rice, sesame Gobi and fruit lassi!
Quick service, clean, responsive staff, a sweet family run business - honest and local, do support.
Some small areas to improve: One of the servers was on his phone a lot - probably the owner but not very professional although i noticed he was very careful with his fingers around the plates, which was good.
Also, we ordered the fish in banana leaf and it didn't taste fresh at all so we didn't eat it. The prawn mango curry was delicious.
Ordered Prawns Mango Curry to be cooked in vegetable oil than coconut oil along with white rice which was basmati.masala dosa was in ghee was also good in taste. Both were great in taste. Mango was freshly plucked n cooked. Prawns were good in quantity. Enjoyed the taste.
We loved this place so much we came back the next evening. We are vegetarian and there was a delicious selection, the food tasted fresh and the service was excellent. We are so glad we found this gem and, compared to some of the other places nearby, the prices were great!
The food was delicious.almost like homemade.the owner and the staff were courteous and the service was perfect. We had masala dosa, vegetable soup, fried rice and dal alongwith gulab jamun.every dish was perfect.the ambience is nice and the prices are affordable.would again come back if in cochin.
Lovely family restaurant. The chef can make all different kinds of foods of the world and the service is amazing. The seafood and meat is great:) Prices are very good as well, have a Mango lassi for dessert ;)
If only it was possible to give more than 5 stars, I would have given it. The food is out of this world. I had plain dosa with sambar. The dosa is a little thick, but soft and very delicious. And the sambar was extremely delicious. Both had a peculiar taste. Never had a dosa n sambar so tasty. The vegetables stew was yummy n sublime. Very easy on the stomach. Food is very very reasonably priced. Staff n owner are gracious n cheerful. Order takes a little time, but it's well worth the wait. Restaurant is small n very neat n clean. I loved it n will be back.
I took a fish in banana leaf (350 roupies) which was very good! They adjust the amount of spices on demand, waiters are very nice and helpful. We did not wait much before getting our dinner. You can eat on the terrace, no mosquitos and many fans to stay fresh
