State Museum and Zoo Thrissur

The zoo has a 2 hour worth seeing. Not many varieties considering the zoo in thiruvananthapuram, but those animals are in more numbers. The archeological museum is also an attraction.

Kerala State Museum and Zoo in Thrissur is a must-visit! It's home to a variety of animals and exhibits showcasing Kerala's rich history.

The zoo covers an area of 13.5 acres and houses a diverse collection of animals, including elephants, tigers, lions, monkeys, deer, and reptiles. Well maintained Zoo in Kerala. Lush green environment. Signboards are well placed for details about birds and animals and also how to take a tour in the zoo

Covid restrictions are deciding by local authorities and not publishing publically, they merely pasting notice at the entrance to make foolish visitors who are coming from long distance. Pls confirm by calling them prior scheduling your journey.

Located in the heart of Thrissur, Kerala, it is one of the oldest zoos in the country as it was opened in 1885. It is home to a wide variety of reptiles, animals and birds. The zoo compound includes a natural history and an art museum that showcase the social and cultural heritage of the region. Famous collections of murals, relics, artefacts, models of ancient temples and monuments are showcased here. On of the interesting artefact is the Olagrandhangal, which is manuscript written on dried palm leaves. It also has 3D theater for visitors.
Personal view: It was truly enchanting place to visit for nature lovers. It was maintained well and had an opportunity to see animals. Worth to visit with family and friends. It is opened from 10: 00am to 5: 15pm except Mondays.

We hav visited yesterday, on 16th September 2021. ZOO is NOT OPEN since COVID till now.
There is nothing much to see in museum also. Only few stuffed bodies.
Not worth for time spending.

One of the best place to hangout for people from Thrissur… They treat all the animals and birds with intense care… Museum closes early, so if need to see that we need to go first there… that is the only issue I have found.unless that everything is fine…

Good place to visit a nostalgic area of childhood memories. Real calm environment. Animals are healthy. Sufficient space for animals in cages. Maintained Hygienic.

Nice MUSEUM! The museum is located close to the zoo. So everyone who visits the zoo should try to visit the museum as well. Everyone who loves painting will love this museum, that's sureThere is so many beautiful old paintings and sculptures for us to see.its great big museum. I don't understand it because I am not a person who enjoys paintings nd wall drawings.
But at first glance all the pictures were awesome. I felt like there was a story hidden in every paintings. If you are a person who can understand paintings then definitely go to the museum. Maybe you can read the stories hidden in it!

തൃശ്ശൂരിന്റെ ഹൃദയ ഭാഗത്തുതന്നെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്കൊണ്ട് എല്ലാവർക്കും എളുപ്പത്തിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരാൻ സാധിക്കും. ഒരു oneday ഔട്ടിങ് പ്ലാൻ ചെയ്യുന്നവർക്ക് തീർച്ചയായും ഉപകാരപ്പെടും. കുട്ടികൾക്കും മുതിർന്നവർക്കും ഒരുപോലെ വിനോദദയകമാണ്. പുത്തൂർ zoo വരുന്നത് മൂലം ഇപ്പോൾ കാര്യമായ മൃഗങ്ങൾ ഒന്നും തന്നെയില്ല. എന്നിരുന്നാലും പഴയ പ്രൗടി അവകാശപെടാൻ ഇല്ലെങ്കിലും അടിപൊളി തന്നെയാണ്.

Proud to have a zoo in our district. Most calm place. Wish to spend weekends in here with my family.

Excellent space to relax and quick escape from busy downtown. Good atmosphere with trees. Zoo is poorly maintained. Set the animals free and let them live their life.

Archaeological Museum, Thrissur is an art and archaeological museum situated in Thrissur. The museum is located in the Thrissur Zoo compound.

The Museum was started as Sree Mulam Chithrasala in 1938 under the auspices of the Government of Cochin. The gallery was started in the balcony of Thrissur Town Hall,  Thrissur City. Later an archaeological gallery was attached to the Picture Gallery in 1948. In 1975, the Department of Archaeology purchased a building at Chembukavu in Thrissur City and the archaeological and Picture Gallery were shifted to the new building in 1975 and named it as Archaeological Museum.

Small zoo. Few animals, small cages. Museum has some paintings, Ivory and wood sculptures and models of Harappan crafts. Another attraction is a saperate museum in the campus with a huge original elephant skeleton, whale skull, stuffed animals, preserved grains, kathakali models etc.

Museum is one on ofthe average good traveling place in thrissiur there are somany animals and near by the museum there is a 3d theatre for wathing wildlife 3d documentry and its a good place for couples the nathural buti here it was good

It's a combination of zoo and museum. Zoo is not much worth to see. There are some animals which is not having enough care. In museum we can see old coins and materials used by our ancestors. We had a good history but we don't value it. Some of the items in museum shows that.

It's a good turis spot especially for the children from school even though it's now having no new animals and residents there feel so pity the area also needed to improve the hygiene

Good place for kids to time pass. Easily to access since in city centre.
Take your own water bottles. Plastic strictly not allowed. Drinking water facility is not available inside. Otherwise it's good.

There were lots of renovation work in progress when I visited. Reptile park was the best# lover

It's wasting time.our government is badly handling this sector.only monkeys can see highly.other animals are enough.lion, tiger.etc.i don't like to go there even my baby also refuse to go there.

Average animals, as the climate is too hot. They are really struggling out there. Being in the heart of city hectic traffic. If planned on a Sunday definite it will be rush day.
