It is one of the best spot to visit in Munnar. The ticket rate is Rs. 125 per head. First they will show us a small documentary session about how they started and what all things affected them and where they are now. Then they will explain and show us the making process of tea, starting from the tea leaves to the tea which we buy from shops. Tea also have different varieties. We can also buy tea packets from their outlet with a discount. Different varieties of tea are available there. Different variety of chocolates are also available with rare choices in flavour. We bought chilly chocolates and it was really nice.

If you want to know the history of Munnar this is the apt place to visit. Munnar is having historical importance also apart from the tourism attractions. Modern history of Munnar is the history of Tea Planar in Kerala. You will find some rare photos and equipments used during the British Era. A documentary about the history of Munnar is also run here. You can get a complete knowledge about the processing of tea also from here. Tea plants are available for purchase apart from different flowers of tea.

Its nice place and they also sell products made by differently-abled. Do buy the product especially jams which is tasty.

Maintained by Kannan Devan Hill Plantation (KDHP), this place not only has a treasure of historical artefacts related to Tea, Tea Estates, associated people and organizations and also has a smal, live tea processing plant just for demo. The place is within the town limits, easily reachable, has very helpful staff, small but well maintained halls, live tea processing plant, sales depot as well as small eatery and kids play area. A must visit place if you are in Munnar!
KDHP in itself is a unique organization with most of its employees as share holders (but it's not a cooperative society) and Tatas supporting it.

Tea manufacturing process is superb to watch. But the lessons are boring. Video about their company describes the munnar in different times. It is so nice to watch.
07 सितंबर 2019 1:06
It's a small factory, where in tea leaves gets crushed and then made to dry. Which results into tea powder. No brainer right. However you get to see the history of how Kannan Devan hills was turned into a tea estate through a video which is for half an hour.

Then there is a tiny museum at the entrance and tea and snacks shop at the exit.

Only visit this place if you have leisure time during your trip otherwise not recommended.
04 सितंबर 2019 15:24
Tata Tea established this tea museum here in 2005. Various stages of tea processing can be witnessed here including the making of black tea.

A demonstration room for tea tasting is the main attraction here.
12 फरवरी 2019 11:20
A nice place to witness the history of tea making and tea production as well. You can also taste different teas and Buy them accordingly.
09 फरवरी 2019 16:10
Entry fees is 125 for adults.

They show a documentary of 30 minutes about the history of Kanan Devi hills (Munnar).

Theres a museum with things from 1700 and 1800 including people's pictures, wall clocks, calculators, bath tubs etc.

Then they have a speech of how we make the tea wrong ang benefits of green tea and how to drink it correctly. The uncle explaining is over dramatic.

Theres a small tea processing unit where you can see how tea is made from leaves.

You can taste different teas in extra 120 rs. Which we didn't do.

They also sell green tea there. All and all, a good experience. Should go if have 2 extra hours in the trip.
04 फरवरी 2019 8:12
Not worth it. There were just some photos, some information that was out there about the history, did not find any video documentary that reviewers are speaking about. Some machines showing tea processing. Like other tea museums in Ooty, they do not even offer tea to taste, you need to buy it at a hyped price.
03 फरवरी 2019 7:24
Very secluded place. Very informative. They will put one 28 mins long video which will tell the history of Munnar and how the tea plantation started there.
Sometimes it says that it's closed but only the tea tasting is closed. Museum will still be open. Ask some local people before visiting.
21 जनवरी 2019 9:23
Museum artefacts are interesting. Although they can be nicely placed. There is a video show on Munnar history. I would say that was the best part and makes you realy appreciate the conserved heritage. This place has a tea sale outlet.
18 जनवरी 2019 1:38
The museum was small and we really went for the tea tasting which was not available. The video they showed was interesting. After we were taken to a factory where I thought I would learn about the tea making process. Instead this man went on a rant about the health benefits of green team and declaring it could even stop or cure cancer. I understand the health benefits of green tea and respect others views, but don't feel a museum tour about the tea process is the best place to go on a rant about, what I consider exaggerated, benefits. He was making comparisons that didn't really fit to his argument and stated facts were skewed. He was also almost yelling at everyone. Overall felt out of place and unnecessary for a factory tour. My parents and I left early. Again nice museum and video, but I would leave after that.
08 जनवरी 2019 14:02
The only thing good in this place is the 28 minute presentation on the history of tea plantations in munnar. There is a small demo of tea powder preparation which is good to see but there is no proper guide to explain the process in English. Towards the end there is a shop where one can purchase their products. Essentially you pay Rs. 125 to buy their products.
08 जनवरी 2019 9:25
R40 by tuctuc from town over bumpy road. Reasonably priced entrance fee (compared to Lockhart) and very good movie to get historical perspective. Gentleman gave a long speech about tea that I couldn’t quite make out. The amplifier kept distorting and we got some painful feedback. Later in the showroom there were a bunch of very loud and pushy sales guys yelling at you to buy some tea!
05 जनवरी 2019 23:31
One can see the process of Tea manufacturing ‍ if you can afford the entry price of 250rs
Which is too costly because of which we did not visit this place.

The tea museum preserves the aspects on the genesis and growth of tea plantations in Kerala's mountain region in the Idukki district on the Western Ghats at the border to the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Tata Tea opened the museum which houses curiosities, photographs and machineries, depicting a turning point that contributed to Idukki's flourishing tea industry. Set up at the Nallathanni Estate, the museum is a tribute to its pioneers who transformed Munnar into a major tea plantation centre
04 जनवरी 2019 20:48
One adult ticket cost ₹125, Which is very high comparing to what is inside it. They have 4room for showing old machines used for tea manufacturing and a room with small live production of tea powder from leaves
02 जनवरी 2019 0:23
20 minute video, small demo of CTC, then sales section with varieties of tea. Takes 1 hour for the whole visit. Ample parking space but toilets are unclean. 100 to 125 per head entry fee.
31 दिसंबर 2018 14:18
Good place to spend an hour of time to learn about tea making process. They charge 125 rs per head for entry which is high. You can buy lemon tea, green tea, normal tea etc from there which is again very costly
30 दिसंबर 2018 5:03
This is the first place to visit in Munnar. Preface to munnar. Is tea museum. If u visit tea museum no need to visit tea company visit.
29 दिसंबर 2018 17:45

28 दिसंबर 2018 19:31
If you are willing to know the birth of munnar tea plantation, then it's a must visit.
100rs meusium fees
30min presentation
21 दिसंबर 2018 21:37
The view from this spot is fantabulous. They have minimal parking facilities. They charge about ₹125, which is pretty costly for this place. They have a small setup of old stuff. This mainly focus how tea is made. There is not much fun factors here. Just a place to visit.
12 दिसंबर 2018 4:14
A good initiative by KDHP to educate visitors on the history of Munnar and the process of tea making.

Approach road to the tea museum from the town in not in good shape.
05 दिसंबर 2018 23:19
It is a miniature of a tea factory, you can understand the tea making process, also you can watch a documentary movie which shows the history of the plantation in this high range (kanan devan hills)
01 दिसंबर 2018 12:08
You can see a demo working machine for tea processing. Initial part of documentary video show gives interesting information on history of tea plantation in munnar by Britishers.

Warte obejrzenia.

Cena - 125 rupii. Czas - 1 lub 1,5 godziny.
