University Veterinary Hospital(Clinic)

Humbly request all of you to think twice before you take your pet to this location. We had purchased a puppy literally a week ago and took her to this hospital for my pets fungal treatment. In the end, the puppy ended up contracting parvo virus and passed away. I have often noticed that the table these dogs are treated on are often not sanitised properly after the table has been used. What is the point of running a highly rated govt. Veterinary hospital when when the chances of contracting diseases are high?

And for those who are going to tell me that the puppy could have contracted parvo from the petshop, there were plenty of other pets who were in contact with her before we took her home. How come they are all right while this baby is buried?

The most horrible hospital I have ever seen. This is my personal experience as I lost my cat due to their carelessness. The doctors in that hospital is worst. It is good for dog but not for cats. Please don't take you're cat to this hospital

As with any teaching institution, expect some waiting time. Their examination is thorough and is conducted both by students and a senior faculty. In house X-ray and laboratory. Not expensive at all considering quality of service they provide.

This is an humble request from my side. I am sharing my truthful experience from this hospital. Please don't take your cat to this hospital. They won't take care of it and give wrong medicines. Because of their wrong treatment I lost my cat. I am sure the doctors in that hospital is not well certified. It is the bad doctor and hospital I have ever seen. So please don't take your cat to that hospital

Came early for consultation with my kitten. Timely consultation and lab results. Neat hospital. Enough space for parking.

Best services you can find in Thrissur city. Docters and staff's are very good and taking care of pets very well. 30 rupees for op ticket and given on 9.am every day.would recommend reach by hospital by 8.30 am because of op tickets availablity.only 20 to 30 tickets op given on every day and the timing of op is 9am to 12 pm and they will look for the emergency cases till 3.45pm.

Excellent care, especially for a government institution. Happy that they welcome small pets too, unlike most vet establishments in Kerala. Very low fees. Good Post Op care. One minus point is that a lot of dressing and after care is left to the pet owners. We had a little problem with the sutures used being of low quality and the incision had to be stapled again after two weeks, despite the fact that our kitten had not been able to touch the wound.

Have visited multiple times now. Never been disappointed.

One of the good medical facilities available for animals in Thrissur. There are different departments for different procedures to be performed too.

Extremely unfortunate that they don't have 24 hours casualty. Also the hospital had shortened working hours during Onam holidays. Animals should be careful and avoid diseases during holidays.

You have to wait a lot for their service and may not get the same doctor the next day for the consultation with your pet.
I was satisfied with their service.

Try to visit from 9 to 12 for experienced doctor's service. Token issuing resumes in the afternoon session at 1pm, but the doctors in that time are mostly trainee doctors.

This is the case for Sunday too (hospital open from 9.30 to 11.30am with trainee doctors). I am not saying they are bad, it's enough for simple cases like vaccination, ear cleaning, blood check and all. But for complicated issues, it's better to see an experienced doctor. That's been my experience.

They have changed a lot since my last visit. I could see more people taking their cats and they also evolved to better handle cats. There are really advanced treatment systems here and many of my cats and foster cats I took there got exceptionally good treatment. That too at a lower cost. Ask for an enclosed room when taking your cat out the crate, if your cat is aggressive to prevent it from running off (or get a cat leash).

Neutering for female cats is at 1500/- and males around 500/- (when I last checked). You need to come with the cat and do a blood test to schedule your surgery. They will give you a date for surgery if blood test is alright.

There was no wait when I arrived with my dog. However, if you have one more person accompanying you, it would be good since pets aren't allowed near the office where you take your OP card and make payments. So you have to either leave them in the car or tie them. You have more than enough space to tie them in case you are there alone with your pet.
The docs didn't take much time to identify the issue. Took a little more time for the X-ray as my boy Oscar was in a bit of pain and wasn't sitting straight.

Don't think many Tibetan Mastiffs have come in for treatment as they took a lot of pics of Oscar, little celebrity.lol

I gave a 5* review because I took a malnourished two month old stray pup I found by the side of the road to this vet hospital and they actually treated him like the other fancy breeds. The doctors were very nice, though the students are still learning stuff like finding a vein.
Oh and it was heavily subsidized being a government establishment so that was another plus.

The doctors are very friendly and there is no unnecessary treatments. Treatment only for what your pet needs. That too very efficiently

The hospital is good but I really wish there were more facilities and amenities available. This being one of the few govt vetinary hospital available in the locality, the rush is more and so it would have much better to equip with more staffs and facilities. Also needs to provide more facilities in casualty for emergency situations. Hope this happens soon

Went with my cat (Tippu) today. The Doctor & Junior Doctors all gave Tipu good care. Everything was told very clearly.

Good facilities. It's a best place for animal treatment in Thrissur. Fast and good doctors. They patiently explain details about of our pets.it's also budget friendly. Some staffs in token counter scold us without any reason. If their attitude as same as other staffs, i will give 5 stars.

Its a government clinic. First I would like to say there is no Casualty unit for emergencies. The minor actions like IV, injections, are performed by second year students on university. Some of them.are not able to find vein for injection. And the animal become uncomfortable and struggled. Some of them inject bubbles during injection. Anyway your pet is a specimen for study for some hours. Students write case observations.may be not clear its better You need ask your animals and.next day you need explained to next doctor. But the gynecology unit have better experienced peoples.
But you will be forced to come here because in this clinic have x rays. Ultrasound scan. And laboratory.

Very good veterinary hospital. The service is great doctors are friendly and helpful. It's a very reasonable hospital.

Spacious with all facility in-house. Pharmacy available along with sales outlet for meat and products. Treatment available for almost all animals. I saw most of the pet owners (dogs) there. IV options for multiple beds. This is one best and largest vet hospital of Thrissur. Though we have to pay for registration and medicine, the approach of the staff is very polite.

This hospital is 115 years old! But it has all the facilities with plenty of doctors and even Health Packages for dogs. There is ample parking space and is situated in.the heart of the town. Only drawback is that it does not have any casualty/emergency dept after office hours.

Best place for the medical treatment for animal at thrissur town area. Government veterinary hospital provide good quality service at very low price. Most of the all pet animals have treatment there. Mostly dogs and cows. Op session registration star at 8am and during holidays it start at 9am.till noon. Afternoon time only the emergency area working. Mannuthi veterinary university store is also working in same compound. There we get meat, egg etc. Good parking facilities provided.

The petitioner, who is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Re-production under the respondent University, has approached this Court challenging Exts. P1 and P2 orders, whereby the petitioner has been transferred as Assistant Professor in Thiruvazhamkunnu and also relieved from the campus at Kokkalai, where he is currently stationed. The challenge in the writ petition, against the order of transfer, is premised on the contention that the petitioner, being the President of Kerala Veterinary University Teachers Association, is entitled to be posted at the Headquarters of the Organization or a Unit of his choice, as per the norms that govern transfer in the respondent University. The writ petition also contains certain allegations of mala fides against the respondents. However, no person is impleaded in his personal capacity in the writ petition.

2. I have heard Smt. Mary Beena Joseph, the learned counsel for the petitioner as also Sri. Millu Dandapani, the learned Standing counsel for the respondent University.

On a consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case as also the submissions made across the bar, I find that, while it has been a general practice of the respondent University to intimate its employees with regard to a proposal for transfer, and to consider their objections to the said proposal, before actually passing orders of transfer, the said procedure has been deviated in the case of the petitioner herein, in that, while the earlier proposal that was circulated showed the petitioner as proposed to be transferred to Thiruvazhamkunnu, Exts. P1 and P2 orders that were subsequently passed transfers the petitioner to Thiruvazhamkunnu, which is not the station that was proposed in Ext. P4 that was circulated among the teaching staff. In my view, once the University has adopted a particular procedure which involves consideration of the objections of the teaching staff prior to effecting their transfers, there has to be cogent reasons justifying a departure from the said procedure in any particular case. Inasmuch as no such reason has been shown to exist in the instant case, I am of the view that Exts. P1 and P2 ought to be quashed for non-compliance with the settled procedure hitherto followed by the respondent University. I make it clear, however, that it shall be open to the respondent University, if it so desires, to communicate to the petitioner any proposal for a transfer to a Station at which the services of the petitioner are desired by the respondent University, and a decision with regard to the transfer of the petitioner to the said Station can be taken after inviting the objections of the petitioner, if any, to the proposed transfer. Thus, leaving open the right of the respondents to effect a transfer in the  exigencfies of service, after following the procedure detailed above, the writ petition, in its challenge against Exts. P1 and P2 orders of transfer, is allowed.
