Water canal under the rooms to be cleaned daily. It was stinking very badly and maybe because of that lots of mosquitoes. Take adequate steps to keep the mosquitoes away.

Great location in kumarkom, situated on the banks of vembanad kayal or lake. It has the longest shore ownership in kumarkom as its situated inside the premises of kumarkom bird sanctuary.

Perfect place for a family with kids. Lot of places for kids to play around. Pool is very safe. Cycling, bird sanctuary, boating are fun.

However the restaurant is miserable with heavy rates for all the dishes. Not at all recommended. You should try and spot outside eateries for a better dining experience

I recently stayed at KTDC Waterscapes Kumarakom for 2 days (19/05/2023) and I was thoroughly impressed. The resort offers a fantastic experience with its beautiful surroundings and comfortable accommodations. The highlight of my stay was the exceptional service provided by the General Manager, Mr. Eby. He was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was enjoyable. I highly recommend KTDC Waterscapes Kumarakom and commend Mr. Eby for his outstanding hospitality.

Rooms are good could have been better. The street lights near rooms should be lit at night.

We visited KTDC Waterscapes today which has a great scenic beauty, and a calm and serene composure. It is pretty well maintained.
We called and enquired about the restaurant and were served à la carte as communicated over the phone. The food was enjoyable but expensive. We paid the bill amount of 3516/-

Although soon after the lunch, we had a very bitter experience from a security guard who screamed and taunted us as if we were trespassers or intruders. He was justifying himself saying that we aren't allowed to click any pictures and was saying that we are causing trouble to the guests who weren't even present there.
We were accompanied by our age old parents and they weren't even allowed to have a seat in the open area. It was literally an insult and we are very much disappointed.
We traveled 54 kilometers (from Ernakulam) to kumarakom for a pleasant family day out, we had planned to visit the bird sanctuary and take a boat ride after the lunch. But this particular incident ruined our whole mood and we dropped all our plans and headed back home.

If they don't prefer to encourage walk-in customers to dine in why didn't they tell us that beforehand?
We believe in “Atithi Devo Bhava” that is to treat guests like god. We don't expect that much, but they need to have a sense of responsibility towards their guests.

Yes. The service and amenities are above the expectations. Staffs were friendly and helpful.

Suggestions for improvement: Boat Service can be little more better. Can include houseboats and speedboats. Also should take care on the maintenance of the boats.

The beer and wine parlour should have some ambience like music or TV

It was totally a 5 star experience…really worth it. Actually the photos doesnt do justice to the real beauty of this property you should really visit and experience it.
Everything was good the stay, food, ambience, pool overlooking the backwaters, activities (bird watching, paddle boat, cycling) …Overall a nice experience.

We stayed at this hotel for one night in December. The property is well maintained, rooms are spacious and all the basic facilities are provided by hotel. The property is next to Kumarakom lake and provides a amazing view of the lake.
There was G20 construction going on at this hotel during our stay and therefore it was not very clean and there was constant noise whole night because of construction.
The food at restaurant was below average and very costly.

I stayed at waterscapes during my vacation with my family. This is a very clean property with helpful and friendly staff, nice ambience and very comfortable stay. The amenities provided are also great; you have a swimming pool and play area. The food is also amazing. This is one of the best properties around the area with stunning views of the lake. Be sure to check out bird sanctuary and the boat ride around the canal side.

This place located inside Bird sanctuary of Kumarakom. Have Lake view and Canal view rooms with common swimming pools and Restaurants.

Wonderful lake front property. Rooms were not that big, but had all the amenities and the service was really good. The food was very nice and pocket friendly too. They have quite big lawns in the property.they can add few more kid friendly activities to keep the kids more engaged. Overall, ideal for a family stay for 2-3 days.

Hot water geyser capacity needs to be more as it is insufficient to enjoy bathtub, especially in winter and monsoon.
Waterfront boating in lake instead of peddle boat would be added attraction.

We had stayed in Canal view room. The stay was pleasant. The property is well maintained, neat. Decent breakfast buffet spread. Would highly recommend waterscapes if you plan to stay in kumarakam.

Stay was great. We have booked canal view cottage and it was maintained well. Food was good and service was great. Had good parking space (but surprised to see park at your own risk board). Pool was good.

What an amazing view full of greenery. Neat and clean swimming pool. The property is so amazing. Well maintained, hygiene and super cooperative staffs. Food was amazing with so much variety. Words are not enough to explain the luxury they provide. It's something that you should go and experience by yourself.another thing is, Our baby is 8 month old. So sometimes it's really difficult to do some activities along with an infant. We met Mr.sharath, front office manager. He took our son all the time at times we had our meal and he made us feel so safe and secure. Not everyone can do that.we know our child is in safe hands. It’s a very old property of Kerala tourism department. It’s very well maintained. Stay is good and comfortable.

Lake side view is fascinating.

Property is big one and you have the golf cart facility to move around.

Staffs are helpful.

Property gets fully occupied over the weekend so it’s better to book in advance.

There is not much to do outside the property.
The bird sanctuary nearby is not worth the walk. The watch tower was under maintenance and is not worth the walk

Pool is OKish but gets crowded by evening. Infinity view of the pool is ruined by the fencing in the lake

If you pay additional 800, they will arrange a boat ride. It can accommodate 8 people. It’s one hour ride.

Overall it is a good experience.

It was memorable experience! We stayed in KTDC on our First night just after the wedding. It was such an amazing experience staying there. Even though we’ve checked in lately on the day…they warmly welcomed us and the service was super awesome. We stayed in Canal View Cottage. Its a Very Well maintained resort and rooms were excellent. Service was very quick.
Peaceful ambience surrounded by backwaters and bird sanctuary.

Only drawback is there is no alacarte, only buffet is available with limited food menu.

KTDC Waterscapes is a wonderful property located on the banks of Vembanad Lake. The most important thing is that waterscapes is situated in the vicinity of Taj Kumarakom and Coconut Lagoon at an affordable budget. The cottages fells like home, very clean and spacious. Pearlspot restaurant offers a huge spread of delicious menu. However, please do not take SPA service from here, it is worst at such a huge price. Also, the experience at the reception should have been more professional considering KTDC Waterscapes is a premium resort.

Scenic location and well maintained hotel. Excellent service and support by the entire team, especially Devaraj. Complimentary boating was a added surprise.

I had some not so great experience with food, however the chef personally acknowldged the feedback. Great to see how they treat customers and take feedbacks in the right sense.

Had a very pleasant stay with family and kids during Christmas vacation for 2 nights and 3 days in the Canal view cottage. The experience of staying over canals and surrounded by them was very unique and mesmerizing. The canals have fishes and the water is daily cleaned using pumps. There was no mosquito issue or other pest issues. There is ample space for kids to play and a swimming pool including baby pool. The cottage was very neat, clean and organized. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean. The best view is from the Sea View cottages where the entire lake can be viewed. Of course they are more premium in cost as well. The restaurant inside is near the lakeshore and provides an excellent view while dining. The food quality is also very good. The staff is very courteous, professional and provided a personal attention to our needs. Motor boating is available from inside the property as well at additional cost. The bird Sanctuary was closed due to maintenance during our visit. Overall had a very memorable stay at the Waterscapes!

One best hospitality properties owned by Kerala Tourism Development Society under Department of Tourism.
It would be more better to start an alcohol Beer or wine shop inside the property

I should call it heaven on earth, amazing stay with KTDC Water Scape Kumarakom. Excellent property with the best view and longest lake frontage in Kumarakom. Best resort in Kumarakom in terms of natural beauty.
Recent maintenance added to its beauty. Property is neatly maintained.
We 6 families went for a day outing today 26/12/21.
We went with great expectations as we visited lake palace Thekkady 1 month back which was excellent.
But we came back really disappointed due to

1-They cancelled the ala carte dinner offered on booking and asked us to take dinner buffet instead. When we requested for ala carte the restaurant manager told you may need to wait till 10 pm to get food.
2. Buffet was far below expectations with decayed sardine grill and very limited spread.
3. Not even providing separate spoon for soup.
4. Arrogant staff
5. When we requested for extra paid snack for evening coffeee, staff told we need to go to restaurant and give order and they can’t communicate our order to restaurant. Felt like as if we are visiting a government office.
6. When we ordered snacks to room they initially told it may not be possible due to vip visit.
7. Not even providing for cutlery for serving ice cubes and snacks.
Later they gave snacks after almost an hour.

KTDC should find ways to cater VIPs and other guests the same time
Otherwise they should think of not entertaining guests during VIP visit as guest coming there are also paying for the service.
KTDC should train staff to behave cordially to guests as it’s a competitive field.

Hopeless menu and buffet spread. Perhaps the only restaurant in Kumarakom that doesn't have Fish in buffet. Walked out.

It's very peaceful place, excellent hospitality you'll definitely visit again to experience it again. Boating was wonderful, we loved it all.

We had been looking for the right resort at Kumarakom for a family vacation to celebrate 5th birthday of our twins. We were looking at some of the prime ones like Coconut lagoon, Taj etc. Thanks to our uncle, a veteran in tourism, we looked at KTDC Waterscapes. Throughout the trip we felt that our pick was perfect.
The Waterscapes resort is part of a 100-Odd acre property which includes a massive bird sanctuary. As one enters the resort, you can feel the dip in heat. A lovely canopy takes one to the reception.
Checkin Process:
We were treated to a lovely welcome drink and savories as the checkin was on. Once all the documents were shared through email, the checkin was more of just greeting.
We had opted for two Superior Lake View and Three Canal View Rooms.
The buggy ride took us to our Superior lake View room.
The Rooms:
The Superior Lake View Rooms get you a feel of a tree house with an uninterrupted view of the Vembanad Lake. Uninterrupted here means that you can literally step into the lake. Facing the west, you would be waiting for the sunset)
The Canal View Rooms give a calm and relaxing feel over the multiple canals running through the property. All these canals are pumped with water from Lake to keep them fresh.
Time At Property:
After our lunch on the first day, we spent the whole afternoon at the amphitheater. It was a treat spending time under the shade and the breeze was perfect to put one to sleep. Some of us chose to sleep on the grass in spite of the afternoon sun. The property was decked up for Christmas and that added pleasure to the walk around the property in the evening.
Food at Property:
Something we learnt about Kumarakom is that people here treat you to homely taste. This was evident from the lunch and the dinner buffet. It was about lending an authentic taste to what you eat at home. It was not too spicy especially if you have kids with you (we have 4 toddlers with us). The Christmas eve dinner was a different offering altogether. It had a nice mix of all flavors.
The breakfast was an ideal beginning for the day if you love a platter of Kerala breakfast served fresh and hot.
Service:
This is one thing that was a pleasant surprise to me. The housekeeping team maintained very high standards. If I remember right Mrs. Indira Bai and team was very courteous and always there for help.
With all the 30 odd rooms occupied on Christmas eve there was no delay in room service or pickup/drop service or checkout.

I would say that Mr. Abi Chandran, Mr. Rajmohan and team are maintaining very competitive standards for this Tourism Development Corporation property. A state-run initiative doing a good job always deserves special appreciation.

Food is good, but very less variety.
Service is atrocious. We asked for two tea, it took them 45 mins!
They are charging the property like any other private resorts. So they should give the service also like that! Really dissatisfied!

Great property, wont be successful due to bad service.

I will never stay in this property ever again, just cos of poor service.

Hope the management take care of these issues and lift the standard of this great property!

We booked a day package which included a cottage, a conference hall, boating and a 7 course lunch. The variety and taste of food was amazing. The hospitality of the staff was par excellence. The whole area was well kept
and in addition the view of the lake from the restaurant was so exciting. The tourism department of Kerala deserves great

The staff is very friendly. The food is great. The cottages have a unique style of being on top of backwater passages. Very good place to spend a leisure day. Loved the boating experience too.

Excellent place for a weekend. Well maintained in terms of hygiene, hospitality, facilities and ambience. Lake side cottages are best in view. Friendly staff. It would be much better if they can arrange better and steady boats than fiber boats.

This ktdc property is well maintained. Beautifully built individual chalets, surrounded with water bodies. Stay was pleasant, food was delicious and very attentive staff. This ktdc is NOT your usual "run down, average food, not attentive staff". Hope they continue to maintain it like this.

Beautiful Place. Rates are reasonable for dishes and stay. Would recommend. Also if your budget allows, Hotel Taj is adjecent to property.

Excellent Ambience by the Vembanad Lake. Wonderful property with very friendly and Co-operative staff.

Visited the restaurant only. Food are decent not extraordinary, little bit expensive. The atmosphere at there is outstanding you will love it very much. There are more to explore hopefully on next visit.

We selected the day out package. It was amazing. We got a nice cottage and a delicious lunch also. Kids spent their time in the pool and the bird sanctuary. A one hour boating is also there in the package. The staffs are very friendly and service minded. Will come again.
