Have never seen so many varieties an options for snacks in a single place. Couldn't do justice to the food as wasn't hungry. Service was very much welcoming and warm. Need to visit the place again to enjoy the food

Fish biriyani is delicious.beef biriyani, beef was a bit hard. We had to wait for a minimum of 10 minutes to get attended by a staff. If service and infrastructure is improved this place can be a wonderful place to visit again.

The peice of beef is good tender and tasty but the rice is not tasty the masala is also not tasty as a normal biriyani rice

The kadukka fry and kadukka roast.we drove from ernakulam to Calicut to eat these specials at Zain.as always.love their food! I recommend it!

The key to get the best of all the snacks served hot is to walk in after 3: 30 or 4. You can see the section getting stocked up and you can go ahead pointing on the delicacies you want to be served.
Killer snacks, and during ramzan time the menu just gets extravagant.
Close to the beach.
Parking is very tricky.
Sometimes you will have to wait to get seated in weekends.
The ambience and service is very good. The chairs may not be too comfortable to sit for longer period to enjoy the meal.

Zain’s hotel - popular snacks spot in calicut. They serve all varities of malabari snacks. I visited them post lunch so ordered their ela ada which is traditional kerala delicacy and chaiya. It tasted good and prices were affordable. I feel pity on myself for not trying their other dishes Do try them out if you’re looking for perfect high tea place.

I had earlier visited Zains in 2012 and 2014, both times it was amazing. Now when I visited again in 2023, I'm slightly disappointed with the taste. Previously I used to argue with my friends saying Zain biriyani is "my" favourite in Calicut, but now I can't really say that anymore. Taste is just normal, Mutton was way far better than Chicken anyways.

Have had their food earlier, it was good. But previous visit I felt it was very expensive. So didnt buy anything

Had ghee rice, chicken stew, nice pathiri, prawn and Ari kadukka Liked everything.

Kalumakaya narachathu. (mussels stuffed fry) here is the best that you can ask for. No one could in this city of great food could match the tasty snacks they serve!

Zaina hotel is famous for its kozhikkode special snacks, must try. They had wide varieties of snacks from kozhikode items to Arabic dishes like Kunafa. Best place to taste Kozhikode style snacks when you are in Kozhikode.

Very nice place to have a quick bite especially snacks. I had bamboo chicken, unnakaaya and chattipathiri from there. And all three dishes tasted really good.those who love calicut special evening snacks can come here and order without any hesitation.those who dont like oily snacks kindly avoid. Parking is a problem here if the place is crowded.

Normally I don't have one full biriyani without wasting. First time I got my food crate empty when I had biriyani from here. Was so tastey. And no dine in only takeaway. Their biriyani having less oil plus fresh chicken. Prawns biriyani having some special taste. Quotab minar of biriyani.

This Zain's Hotel located in beautiful areas. The food is excellent, not costly and staff's are good behavior. The overall is good.

Just like mighty Zamorins of the calicut, Zain's had a period of glory and praise once, at present they exist as an epitome of a business who got too comfortable with their temporary success and never tried to improve.
Zain's were an awesome place to get authentic kozhikoden snacks and food. Now it's just an overpriced place where they serve quite sub par food and poor service and hoping that people would still pour in riding their goodwill which existed 10 years ago.

Such a wonderful experience to be here. The Lady on the front desk who is also the cook of the most delicious recipes, is so sweet. The traditional Fish Pathri and Chicken Pathri was amazing. The Bamboo Chicken is a must try. For dessert, the Kunafeh was perfect along with Unnakaya and Richie Rich (a decadent chocolate brownie). The Nari Nari, a drink made of raw mango and chillies, was just beyond expectations.
All in all, definitely a must visit place!

The ambience is great! Food tastes good too. Not the best in town as it used to be. U can see a lot of flavours. But it's sadly not coming out as taste. However the homemade chocolate is greaatttt!

Bamboo chicken was good. The fish pathiri was horrible and I almost vomited.

Authentic North malabar snack varieties and sometimes they will surprise us with their dessert items too. Last time I tried their custard cake pudding which they served in jar which is trending nowadays. ഇത്ത suggested to try it as her daughter prepared it6and everyone on their customer list seem to be enjoying it

Quaint place located on a narrow street. No parking space but can be parked on the street. Had prawns biriyani, ney choru (served with complimentary gravy), mutton biriyani, kakka fry, tea, egg cake and chatti pathiri (sweet). Would definitely give 2 thumbs up for the biriyani and chai. Great taste. Will come back for more. Can seat about 20 people (more or less).

Famous hotel in Malabar, the first of that kind but not the only one. Serves traditional Malabar menu, authentic and good quality. Moderately expensive to the local people but budget price to a traveler. Well known for its ifthar snacks during the month of Muslim fasting. Situated in a narrow road with no own parking but limited roadside parking at walkable distance. For a stranger, the best route is to go to Calicut Beach first and then locate the hotel, to avoid narrow and confusing roads

Oily.there are so many varieties of food. I celebrated my Birthday yesterday there and the owner wished me and gave us Chocolates FOR FREE! That Aunty was so SWEET! LOVED THE HOTEL! <3

Snacks are pretty good. The muttamala was okayish.
Biriyanis were really bad. The Chicken and fish were not fresh. But the Prawns biriyani was okay but way pricey.
Overall the place doesn't live up to the hype.

Without this hotel, calicut's culinary history is incomplete. Variety of traditional muslim cuisine available. Had kilikkoodu, fish pathiri, chicken wheel and prawns biriyani. Homely atmosphere.

Zain's. Situated in a calm lane near the kozhikode beach, this place offers some traditional malabar dishes.

We had chicken pathiri, Egg pathiri, squid fry, Beef roast, Briyani.
Every dish was cooked to perfection!

Being an traditional building the ventilation was poor and we were sweating all through our presence there.

Other than that a wonderful place to explore malabar cuisine.

Prices were reasonable.

The food used to be great in past, but the hotel has lost its charm now, the food is cold and not having that appealing taste, the main course dish is prepared and kept ready, they just warm it on order and serve, even the tea is not fresh.
Only thing that's good there is the hand made chocolate, bit that's overpriced.

Poor quality of menu. Had to purchase bread or kuboos along with thandoori or alfaam. Food didnt meet the expected quality and taste.

Had tea and snacks from there and didn't like it much. We have had better malabari Snack at home and retro's like Ojeens Broadway and other Places. Maybe because of huge expectations we had. Pricing was economical and the restaurant was clean and well kept. Ample seating spaces and service was also good. It was not crowded when we visited the place and the building was old and in its full glory. Parking to be done in the roadside and a dedicated parking is not available. Very near to beach.
