Zostel Munnar

Amazing Location, situated right in between a tea plantation overlooking cliffs. The staff there were amazingly friendly, helped arrange rides for travelling to different spots without any hassle. Special shout-out to Jeetu & Jason.

My experience staying at Zostel Munnar was pretty awful. The staff here is very lenient. They allow smoking cigarettes and encourage drinking alcohol. Even at midnight they allowed playing very loud music and there was no discipline or proper authority at all. There was a group of guys who caused much chaos after drinking and the staff did nothing about it. Thus creating a unsafe experience. The complaint registered was dismissed too. Absolutely wouldn't recommend this place.

Very poor service, the staff was not so cooperative. No Wi-Fi. The location was also very odd you can come by your vehicle only if you are a super expert at driving the car in an inclining hilly area or vice-versa. Rooms are very small

The experience was just amazing, firstly the location is just perfect and extreamly beautiful!
We stayed in the dorms and the same were well maintained, cleaned regularly during the stay. Mr Jeetu and Jason at the reception were very helpful and approachable! The volunteers made the trip sooo easy, all the transport for the sigh seeing was arranged at minimal cost. The common area and the work zone is also well maintained. The food at the zostel is also really yumm and budget friendly!

The rooms are not worth the price. The view is pretty good but the property is old and not well maintained.

Had a relaxing and pleasant time at Zostel Munnar. Seemed like a perfect place for a staycation. It has a very welcoming, home like vibe. The staff and volunteers are very friendly. Food was good with decent prices. The common room had fun activities like Pool tables, carrom, foosball and other board games and it has an amazing view of Munnar tea plantations.

Food is value for money and good.
Great views all around.
Price wise it’s worth it.
But the Zostel doesn’t carry the same brand value that one experiences in other Zostels. The staff and the manger were a bit tacky.
But overall it’s a pretty good place.

They need some improvement in their rooms and services but the location is superb. We stayed in private rooms which were awesome for the morning till evening views and there are plenty of games to play around.

For old family a disclaimer there will be no lifts so think that ways

Wanna chill and party mad in Munnar? Zostel is the right place for you. From hosting to cleanliness to food, I would say this place has got the best of all. Moreover, the people working there, especially the manager Jithu and his team are doing a wonderful job to make sure you have a good time there. Would highly recommend the place!

It's not just a stay. They arrange various activities for you like sunrise point of Kolukkumalai, etc.
Jeetu is very helpful.

Also went to a waterfall down the road from Zostel (not Attukad waterfall).

Rooms are pretty good, vibe is also but the main problem is location I didn't like the location at all.

Zostel munnar is good location gives best view from the terrace 1 lower star bcz of service for food their cafeteria is always under maintenance you need to manage your own food

This place really makes you wonder whether it really is a zostel or not. The location is quite difficult to reach especially if u are coming from munnar town. There is no signage indicating the turn to the side road which is a steep downhill we must take to reach the location. If you are coming here with a 4 wheeler be prepared for some action.

Given the view once you reach, one can forgive the inconvenient route but that means that the food provided should be of good quality and available 24/7 but that was totally not the case.

The menu looks amazing but the service is absolutely mediocre and the chef himself doesn't know what's in his kitchen. We were here to celebrate New Year's Eve here but the best part of the building (i.e the terrace floor) was closed and a bonfire was lit in an already congested parking space next to the vehicles. The terrace floor games closes at 10PM according to their rules and regulations which is strange in itself but atleast make an exception for NYE dude:/

The whole vibe was off from what I have experienced previously at other zostels and it left me and my friends quite disappointed. I hope nobody else has the same experience I did but be advised of the pros and cons when booking a stay here.

TLDR: Great View. Average Rooms. Poor accessibility. Very Bad Service. Average Quality Food.

Overall Verdict: Definitely A Pass.

Stayed there for a few days. The staffs and manager were really friendly. Had a medical emergency while we were there and they had been so helpful and understanding. Kudos to the team! Nice view and good property too!

Overall the trip was fantastic. The location is great and the service is fantastic Met some great people and ate some good food! Definitely worth a visit once. They have restriction criteria that you cannot play music on the terrace after 10 PM and the property is not that well maintained.

Zero ventilation in the dorm fan regulator broken and the place was filled with smokers and drinkers around during my stay at dorm. Totally not at all pleasent expensive which is followed by zostel mumbai experience. Zostel has lost it's Standards a lot after becoming popular.

If you are planning on a peaceful and fun getaway, this place is your perfect destination. The manager, jithu treated us like family and made sure the stay was just the best. Above all, this destination is perfect for people who want to have a nice weekend with new people.

I have booked @ZostelHostel zostel Munnar from 11 dec to 14 dec to visit beautiful Scenery of Munnar.

But because of my uncle death on 30 November, I have to cancel my plan and I have requested for the refund by providing the death certificate of my uncle still you have not consider my situation and pain through which I m going right now.

I have done the great mistake to consider zostel rather I would have choose scenic resort by Airbnb @Airbnb

I highly recommend do not consider @ZostelHostel for your future trips.

This is by far hands down the WORST Zostel I've ever been to.
Location: Its very difficult to take the car to the location. If any other car comes from the opposite direction in the narrow passage then God help you. However, it was my mistake to not checkout its accessibility.
Rooms: The bedsheet had tons of long hairs in it from the previous occupant's use which made it clear that they haven't bothered to clean it. There was dust all over the window. The washroom was OK at best. The drawer given to keep our belongings had dust from the past century. So we never bothered to unpack the clothes.
Service: The morning buffet was the worst experience. Despite paying INR200 per head for it, we had to ask the waiter to refill food items multiple times. I got some corn flakes and had to ask them to refill milk container 4-5 times before he gave "Okay will do it" look repeatedly and took 30 minutes to finally refill it at which point I had given up and about to wash my hands.
I have been to several Zostel over the past couple of years and by far this is the worst one I have stayed in so far.

We loved our experience here. From availability of food in house to seneric view, bonfire, common are filled with games, workstations, library, staffs. Everything was just perfect. The only drawback could be the 300m ride down the slop to reach Zostel but overall definitely would visit again.

I am a frequent visitor here, munnar is my stoping point while going to vattavada from kochi. Meeting new traveller and sharing good travel experience is something great which can't express. Dormitory stay also good and at roof there is a comon area where we can hangout and some activity also available.
The manager and staff also very friendly and the food also good at this zostel.

Stayed here over a weekend. Facilities and caretakers were really good and friendly. Food also good. Situated in a picturesque corner away from Munnar town. Lil bit difficult to reach in a car if the driver is not experienced because we have to take a deep steep to reach there.

One of the best hostels I have ever been to! Well maintained rooms, good food, wonderful common area! More than anything, the service is crazy, the manager Jithu Chettan and all the other staffs were super friendly and was ready to help me throughout! It was difficult for me to get a bed due to full bookings, the manager and staffs patiently waited till late night to make sure I have a room.

Its a perfect place for stay and mingle with other traveller's. Food is good. Spacious area, ample amount of parking. Clean workstation, community area is big and good place to meet new friends.

Things to improve:
1. Some maintenance work is required in bathrooms (soap tray, change broken bucket/mugs) and common area (pillow wash, balcony grills painting etc)
2. Food quantity is more for a solo traveller's, there should be option of lesser quantity as to avoid food wastage.
3. Tea can made better, in land of tea munnar. Tea made at zostel is not that great.
4. Ease the option of ordering food. There is so much confusion, everytime phone number is required which can be avoided. Details are anyway provided during web-checkin.
5. Card payment option should be made available, there is only UPI option.
6. Atleast proivde 2 chairs in dorms.
7. Fix kitchen door, it makes so much of noise by everytime when opened and closed by staff to nearby rooms.

Would definitely come back to this place next time in Munnar.

Amazing place to chill and relax.mixed dorms. Staff is amazing. Place is always bustling with youth and festive.bonfire in the evening and the treehouse is amazing.seats atleast 25 people.make early booking.last minute bookings are difficult to get.

Had Visited to Zostel Munnar. Property is too good wrt to cleanliness. Moreover, People are very helpful and arrange transportation/ help their clients to set up schedule properly so that no one miss the Beauty of Munnar. Zostel Munnar is the best place who wanted to make new friends. There is fantastic 'work from home' facility available separated from Games zone on terrace.

The view from the roof is toooooo good. The team also organized fun activities to do. Met amazing people which made the stay an unforgettable experience. I'll stay here when I'm in Munnar next.

The only reason I'm not giving a 5star rating is cos the location is damn remote and Is difficult to get to if you don't have a vehicle of your own!:)

We stayed for two nights on a workation, and the experience there was just so superb. Usually you won’t get good food in Munnar, but here at Zostel the food is so damn tasty. Also the service and staff, properly maintained rooms except few negligible weathering of the building.
In short its a good place to work, chill, network and relax.

(the workspace is affected by sunlight glare, and its found difficult to work in the early morning half, please take in our suggestion and do some remedy for it).
Its not a big issue, but again! It would have been better, if it gets sorted!

One of the best Zostel’s in INDIA. Staff in Zostel Munnar are so welcoming. Happy to stay here for more than 2 weeks now. Best location for Workation and their cafeteria is so good. Overall a perfect place to chill.

Have to say, Zostel Munnar is the best hostel I have ever been to so far.
A bit outskirts of Munnar town, but situated at the best possible location with amazing soothing and scenic view from the hostel.
The hostel has good interiors, nice rooms and really good bathrooms. There's common room, playing room and a nice rooftop to enjoy a peaceful view.
Really nice staff, great service and you would definitely meet amazing people there.

It was my first experience with Zostel and it turned out to be a good one. The dorm was maintained neat and staffs were friendly. The ultimate purpose of visiting here might not be for stay alone, it more of enjoyment during the course of stay. This place has got some games to play like carrom, snooker etc. The view from top floor is really good and calm. One can give a try if they are a solo traveller or traveling with friends. It also has a restaurant attached to it. The nicest thing is that we can get to know people from different states and even different countries. Overall a good experience staying in Zostel.

Reaaaally nice place to stay in Munnar. The staff is awesome and the hostel is beautiful. Also, they organize excursions, which is really convenient!

Inaccessible location (we came with our own car, and all of us except the one driving had to walk to the hotel because the path was so steep and narrow), and very far from main Munnar city.
Extremely poor internet connection.
Restaurant food was so-so but price was higher than expected.
No self-kitchen service available, even for heating food (especially considering that there was no other alternative nearby options).
The helpful staff and friendly co-guests were the only good thing about this.

Situated on outskirts of town munnar. Have to trek uphill frm zostel to come to main road and trust me with luggage n backpack you will feel u might roll backward/forward anytime. Auto/jeep can be arranged by having a talk at reception bt it does take time. Had booked private rooms, cleanliness was not upto the mark spent two nights with three lizards (which can crawl on wall as well as on floors). Shortage of Housekeeping guys so even if you complain they will take time in responding. Cafe food is overpriced and okaish can be made better. Good part is you have an open terrace, DJ, and lots of indoor games. Staff and manager are good helps u in arranging sightseeing trips for you. Dnt miss the sunrise point. Ride to d point one of the hell kinda but worth. If you have phobia of insects (moths, spiders) please do not visit as staff is least interested in cleaning. Really the zostel is in need of pest control. Manager will insist you to give good reviews but the truth needs to be shared. Just sharing my experiences

Pros:
view is mesmerising from the room
colours and interiors are aesthetically pleasing as it appears.
Nice place to work too.good wifi.

Cons:
Food was okaish.
For the okaish food we have to wait at least an hour. Seriously. Order and wait for an hour to 1: 30 minutes. Think about having an extra dish. Can't even think about is because it will take infinite time.
We can't order from outside.can't cook even basic stuff in Zostel. (not even instant maggie - or heat the pre packed food)
Reaching with a sedan is one hell of a task. Reachable but really difficult to reach.

PS: DJ party every night from 10PM. It will be on ground floor if it's your thing, great. But if not and staying in room on ground floor the sound may disturb. But anyway they will stop around 12, so must not be that big a problem. Also they have separate working space on top so if you want to work till late that won't be a problem.

Only thing I dislike is the food arrangements. Their dishes takes infinite time to be ready. Also, if we are doing staycation then it's again a problem. Everyday we are bound to choose from few dishes that they offer. They don't allow food from outside. Also they won't allow to eat in the room. And as it appears going out for food every time is little tedious task since most of the restaurants are in city which is at least 4-5 km far from the property. If food is no problem then go for this one.
