Zostel Vagamon

Obsoletely go to place if you want to feel close to nature. Property is surrounded by lush green views and has easy accessibility to all the view points of Vagamon. Staff is soo friendly and welcoming, food here is amazing. Property has a nature made pool in walkable distance. Cost is very economical. Vinnu sir and Vishnu are very helpful in planning and arranging the local site seeing itinerary.

My first ever visit to Vagamon and I was glad to have stayed at the Zostel Vagamon. The perfect mix of a wonderful location, the ambience and the people- Vinu, the Hands-on manager of the property along with Joel and Vishnu. If you're like me and chose to visit Vagamon on a whim- you can be rest assured that the staff will be there to sort out any and all of your queries regarding the sights to see around Vagamon. If you're not travelling on a budget, the private rooms offer great views of the valley along with the amenities of a traditional hotel room like a tea and coffee kit, complimentary water bottles, etc. I had decided to extend my stay by another day and although the private room wasn't available, the larger dormitory rooms were clean and tidy. A special mention about the food- do speak to Vinu and try out the Chicken kothu porotta and the Kallapam with the Veg stew.

Fantastic View. Staffs Venu and Joel were friendly and helpful. Great experience for solo travelers. Food and camp fire was great. Since there are no bike rental in vagamon it's hard for solo travelers to explore on their own.

My South India Motorcycle ride took me to Vagamon, I had heard a lot about Vagamon from the last 2-3 years and this time I was keen to ride to and explore this town. I booked with Zostel for a couple of days and eventually landed there after riding through Theni, Meghamalai Wildlife Park and picturesque roads of Thekkady and the stunning tea plantations around the Vagamon town.

Zostel Vagamon has to be one of the most beautiful properties across Zostel, starting from their dorms, private rooms, beautiful cafe, a lovely natural pool and a waterfall around.

From stunning sunrise and sunset view points, waterfalls, to walk around the meadows and pine forest patch, Vagamon has everything.

The amazing hospitality of the property manager (Vinu), the staff and the delicious food served in Zostel Vagamon cafe made me extend my stay by 2 more days.

Can't wait to return.

Amazing experience. The property manager Venu ensured that we had the best experience at Vagamon. Easily approachable, knowledgeable and an amazing host, he guided us to make the perfect itinerary to enjoy our stay. Definitely recommend the stay!

Zostel Vagamon was excellent! The place has a cool vibe with lots to do, like a great infinity pool and fun treks. The staff was super friendly and helpful, making my stay memorable. Definitely one of the best hostels I've been to – totally recommend it!

Zostel Vagamon Not safe for women.
We 3 women have visited Vagamon and stayed in zostel for one night in private. And there were n number of guys started the party and drinking in parking area with loud speaker around 8 pm. Party kept going till 1: 30 am instead of us calling the staff manager and ask to turnoff the music as our driver was sleeping in car in parking.
Two of the guys (heavily drunk) came to us around 11 when we were standing in the balcony, to join their party for which we politely declined the other guy kept asking questions.
Finally we went inside the room so he can leave is alone.
Vishnu the staff manager is also partying with them instead of taking care the request of us and our driver.
He said these guys have permission till 12 mid night.
We called vishnu at 1: 30 to stop the music again. So basically we helpless in that property that night as it seems that we stuck in some very bad company of drunk people.
Next morning we have not extend our stay and shifted to Winterwale one the best safest and economic property in Vagamon we have less what we paid in zostel got a complementary breakfast. Property has pool, game room and fanatics hospitality by winterwale people. I don't know why we booked zostel, it was not safe, managed, costly, smelly room, you need to run for water too.
Hotels are best suited if you are travelling solo or a group of female as they follow standard practice unlike zostel seems like a personal party space for staff manager.

Dirty. Photos and reality is very different. The location is amazing but once you’re inside the property, it’s horrible. The Manager is rude and not at all cooperative. All false promises before the booking and when we went there, there was absolutely nothing fulfilled.

Food is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. They won’t allow outside food also.

Please avoid.

There's nothing negative I can possibly say about this property. It's surrounded by breathtaking views of lush green mountains. The bunks are basically super comfortable queen sized beds. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. The food is so good, it's indescribable. Most importantly, the manager Vinu, will go above and beyond to make your stay and whereabouts as comfortable and enjoyable as it can possibly be. Highly recommended, will certainly visit again!

We had a great experience at Zostel Vagamon. The staff was very hospitable, and ensured that we had the best hospitality, especially Vinu, Vishnu, Sumeet and others who were all there with us like one amongst us. One of the best trips of my life and what made it this awesome was Zostel Vagamon and the fantastic people I met there!

This was my first week-long solo trip this year (better late than never).
I chose a private room - it was tidy and comfortable and situated on the ground floor. The dorms are pretty great too and had queen sized beds. The common area is located on the top floor and has a great view of the lush green tea plantations.

The property manager Vinu is kind and a very resourceful guy. He made sure that each person at the property enjoyed the amazing sunset-sunrise-waterfall-tea plantation spots around the property by arranging group/solo (depends on your preference) jeep rides. These trips were quite pocket friendly and super adventurous with all the off-roading. Vinu makes sure that you're well fed and also goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable.
We visited Justin's point (sunset), a few hidden waterfalls, Ulupunni (sunrise), Ginamala (sunset) and a few touristy spots which I think can be skipped since it's quite crowded and noisy.

There is also natural infinity pool through Zostel's property, a simple hike of 15-20 min takes you there, it is really clean and safe to swim.

September is a great month to visit Kerala, it's lush green and the waterfalls are clean. Vagamon was misty and the Zostel location is bang on! Highly recommended!

In a nutshell, my stay at Zostel Vagamon was nothing short of amazing - spectacular views, great experiences, outstanding hospitality and delicious comfort food. Not only have I returned with memories/experiences that I’ll cherish for a lifetime, but also met some super fun folks that I’ll remain in touch with.

1. Views: The property is situated in one of the most picturesque spots. Just sitting out in the sun taking in all the beauty is a pleasure it’s in itself.

2. Infrastructure/facilities: the beds were way bigger that you’d typically expect in a dorm. Washrooms were pretty clean. Housekeeping team cleaned the rooms everyday. Thought there is room for improvement with the upkeep of the property, from what I’ve been told, a complete maintenance is scheduled shortly.

3. Food: Freshly cooked meals that feel just out of your home kitchen are served. Not only are they delicious but also have the perfect spices levels that are easy in your tummy.

4. Adventure: I had to spend no time worrying about places to visit or things to do. I was advised on the best possible places options to visit, conveyance was arranged for each at surprisingly affordable prices, extremely friendly and accommodating drivers, all of this without me having to lift a finger. As a Zostel guest, I was also given an exclusive discount on the Paragliding fees. I’d never know what a breathtaking experience I would have missed, had I not gone for paragliding in Vagamon.

5. Staff: I personally found all staff members very friendly and accommodating.

6. A special mention: Mr. Vinu - the go to man at Zostel Vagamon. He is the one ensuring everything (including every bit mentioned above) runs seamlessly. You ask and he delivers. He’s like that genie who fulfils all that you wish for; even things like my craving for some authentic kappa and matti, to bonfires to last minute requests (wherever he can). His hospitality is top notch and he exuded warmth through and through.

The property is located at the most scenic location. Surrounded by lush green tea garden. I really loved the place and staff was very friendly specially Vinu Nair who is the care taker of the property, he made sure we get all the comfort. I really recommend this place.

The stay was perfect here and the management's hospitality was very good. The food was excellent with very nice hills view around the zostel.

Overall, it's one of a kind of experience living here. A must try if you are visiting Vagamon (not exaggerating).

I literally enjoyed being there. I travel solo. This place was very well maintained and food was amazing too. Staffs were very friendly. Vinu takes care of everything here, he arranges all the activities for the day and there were so much to explore around. Infinity pool was best out of all. I will come again. I extended one more day because I connect with lot of other solo travellers. Just pack and go!

The Good Part was the atmosphere, created solely by the great people they have here.

The Bad, Food and Rooms. The food is nowhere near bearable enough to eat. We had to move to nearby restaurants which was equally tragic. The Rooms aren't that clean as you may expect and so is the linen. Better bring your own.

Highly Disappointed with Zostel and its management service. Four major issues:

1. Dirty smelly rooms and Terrible vegetarian food. Further, we clearly informed prior booking to the manager that we are Jains and would need to carry jain food if we are not comfortable with the kitchen utensils. As it was a mixed kitchen, we explained but we were imposed and the manager argued that we cannot eat our food.

2. Very bad cooperation during stay and for transport pickup/drop from management despite multiple enquiries and follow-ups before checkin. We were quoted very high prices for the pickup and drop and blamed that we did not do the needful.

3. No activities were planned as promised, no assistance from manager and high charges taken for small jeep rides. We were promised free activities like bonfire, infinity pool, ginamala. However there was no cooperation from the manager to take us for the activities.

4. No Central support for taking action or assistance against management from Zostel team. There is no prompt redressal system for customers and the toll free number diverts back to the manager.

I strongly feel the host manager Vinu needs to make sure we have a good time there for trips and vacation rather than blaming upon us or zostel policies or arguing with customers and lying to us.

We were a group of 8 who trusted Zostel but would never recommend any of our friends or family to choose Zostel.

Second time at zo vagamon.with heavy rains & housefull situation, the staff had there hands full but they did an admirable job.special thanks to manager binu who runs an efficient setup while creating a welcoming environment and ensuring guests are able to enjoy activities & site

Stayed here on 26th to 28th Feb 2022 with 2 other friends in their private room. I have stayed in multiple other zostel properties but vagamon one was my worst zostel experience. That room's pipeline had some plumbing issue and we had horrible sewage smell in the room during the entire stay especially at night. The entrance itself has common washroom which was not clean and full of flies. My friend and I had put this feedback on insta. Nobody approached us and instead deleted our comments. I am not sure about the dorm rooms but I'd definitely not recommend the private rooms.

Great destination in Vagamon. Beautifully designed and well maintained properties. Best dorms you can find. I was in an 8-bed dorm with really large and comfortable beds and 3 attached washrooms. Really nice common area, the famous hammock and watch tower to have a good time within the property itself. The property manager is very hands on and great to interact with.

We stayed for 2 days and those are our best Kerala trip memories.

Vinu helped us a lot arranging transportation and sight seeing activities. Just one suggestion please use bigger sign boards on the way to the property, will help others in better navigation.

Zostel Vagamon was located at a perfectly nice place and the usp is the hammock with a full valley view. The staff and hostel manager were very polite and they had arranged the jeep safaris to some unexplored places. We also got to stay in the common room as there were no bookings available and the staff was friendly to extend help on the same. It will be great if there are more food options available in the kitchen
