Appa's Aluwadi is a spicy delight that screams Pune authenticity, while the Kothimbirwadi is a coriander-packed burst of nostalgia. As a Pune native, I'm giving Appa's a double thumbs-up for keeping our city's flavors alive and kicking! It's a must-try for any Punekar seeking a tasty slice of home. Appa located in Narayan Peth is at a walking distance from landmarks like deccan, FC road, Z-bridge. A must visit place.
Third class taste of Upavasachi Misal. The taste of Sabudana is very poor. Instead of this we can get good sabudana taste any other place. No place for parking.
Khichadi kakdi was cold and pretty average. Service was decent. Maybe I expected more. Will check other items next time to understand whats the hype all about.
I went today after a long time. Had ordered Khichdi. The reheated khichdi was also ok but the khichdi was completely raw and the taste was very average. When I told the aunty at the counter there, she replied nonchalantly, "We have to heat every two hours. " The vein was also very dry. Very disappointed. Once I used to go to Deccan to eat Khika but today this experience was very disappointing.
Very bad Khichadi. Not even 1% of the one which used to be served by Late Mr. Appa near PYC or even in Erandawane / Karvenagar branch.very disappointed.
We ended up having our breakfast/brunch here on the day of Ganpati Visarjan. We tried Khichadi kakdi Pohe Batate wada Wada sample Matar usal I could not capture all the pictures as we were so hungry to have food. But wada sample and pohe were good.
Although kakdi khichadi is also recommended to have here.
It's in exact front of tilak tank parking area. Can rate 1) Pohe 5/5 2) Batata wada chutni 4/5 as it was half cooked 3) Kakdi khichadi 4/5 same a little uncooked and kakdi was very freezed 4) Wada sample 5/5 It was best 5) Matar usal 5/5 it was good too and was a little sweet in taste
Should surely visit if are very hungry as they serve fast.
I feel they should keep tissues as it's necessity today, there are no tissues provided there so it becomes hard to wipe your hands after you wash.
A quaint place with a delicious breakfast and snacks menu, highly recommended. Must try- Khichadi Kakdi with Batata chiwda and Dahi wada. Kairi panha is also great. The owner and staff are polite and friendly. Easy on the pocket as well.
Most happening place for quick breakfast. It is right next to Deccan Gymkhana. Finding a parking spot is little bit tricky, because lane is so narrow. But you can walk down the lane, where you can find paid parking. We had tried Kakdi khichadi which was refreshing but was on a sweeter side. We also tried Batata Wada, which was tasty. Then, we tried Kairicha Panha. Which was disappointing. Felt like drinking yellow cold water with sugar. Raw mango's punch was missing.
This place is very clean, decent, peaceful. It provides filtered drinking water. Service is very fast. Rates are reasonable. We tried khichadi kakadi, taste was good. I was expecting much better khichdi as it's famous for that. Seems being typical Puneri place, every item was bit extra sweet. Those who don't like that extra sugar won't like that sweet taste. I will recommend it if you are going to deccan area and in search of good simple marathi food.
It's located near Tilak swimming pool and sahyadri multi specialty hospital. It's bit inside the main roads. But it's old and world famous restaurant of Pune. You should try their signature dish Sabudana Khichadi with kakadi and evergreen matar usal shev with slices. Damn tasty.
A chance to cherish menu from old aappa's eatery from Decccan. Taste is nearly similar if not exactly same. You can order खि. का, मटार उसळ, etc. Definitely worth visiting.
It's a really nice place for breakfast with a variety of dishes. Their Khichadi kakdi is famous and is really very tasty. Although I find it a bit expensive to pay the amount we pay for a plate of Sabudana Khichadi, it's definitely worth a try. And I'll be visiting the place again because it's my favorite for over 10 years
Famous for khichadi kakadi, all food is ok.but must try khichadi kakadi, clinliness ok, sitting arrangements ok, not specius but ok.very small space, closed sharp time
Tasty & good MH snack restaurant located near Omkareshwar Chowk opposite Vartak Garden. This restaurant is a small eatery which caters to authentic MH / South Indian snacks such as Kichdi-Koshimbir, Idly, Batata Vada, Mutter usal, Upma, Poha etc. Everyday the menu changes. Kichdi-Koshimbir & Mutter Usal are some of my favourites. With any snack you can order a plate of sev, which will compliment the main course. Sambar is very tasty & is on the sweeter side. Tried Chatney, it was cold as it was refrigerated. It has ~15 seater capacity. I have seen several families visiting this restaurant on the weekends. Value for money ₹₹. They accept Cash, PayTM as mode of payment along with other electronic mode. If you are near Jangali Maharaj road, visit this eatery. You can also, takeaway your favourite items. For toilet facilities you can avail Sulabh Sauchalaya diagonally opposite this restaurant.
Tasty khichdi-kakdi. Try the nut laddoo (dānyachā lādoo) also tasted misal here once.space constraints are there but can be overlooked for the taste of the food. The manager is also very efficient and gets things moving quickly.
Was waiting for 10 mins, it wasn't busy. Others were getting their orders, take away's were getting priorities. Left the place without eating and apparently the person at the counter was ok with it. Didn't even tried to stop me. They wont get any business from me in near future for sure!
Upvas’kars’ favourite place as they serve amazing Kakdi Khichadi. Its their flagship item on the menu. I come here for their single wada sample with bread slice Its a small outlet with a typical Puneri ambience (not that the owners won’t welcome you) but the look and feel of it. Its a pop-eat-go place. Enjoy your snack lunch here.
Even though the taste of the combination was great of sabudana khichdi and kakadi koshimbir, khichdi should have been more fresh or at least little warm.
It is known for its khichdi kaakdi. It is the only dish which has a good taste. Other dishes like wada sample are bland to taste and watery. Not worth trying. Also the rates are high.
#breakfast when in #pune do as #punefoodie or #puneri people do. And what better than visiting Appa, in shaniwarpeth for their famed Khi-kaa (khichadi-Kakadi). The place makes me nostalgic as I had some best food memories when Appa was operating out of shabby, unclean hut adjacent to the Deccan Gymkhana. His famed khi-kaa was my mid afternoon comfort snack while back in college days, at least 3 times a week. Some how, I personally feel that the new Appa has lost its taste and touch. I didn't find this khi-kaa drool worthy. Just ok!
This place is a religeous place named as Papvinashi 4 to 5 kms.away from famous Tirumala, tirupati Temple. The place is having natural waterfalls underwhich pilgrims take bath to vanish their sins and so named.
A quick bite place to go on People who have upvas can go Upvas items available daily Kakdi khichadi Misal Usal Batata vada These all things are best Good option for quick bites
This place is famous for their kakdi sabudana. Kakdi is nothing but koshimbir. It has a unique sweet taste which I loved. I had also ordered upama which was above average. Food is mostly sweet here.they have 2 facilities to sit and also accept digital payments.
