It’s one of those South Indian places where patrons have to wait for sometime before seat becomes available.
Needless to say that food, price, service and ambience- all are worth the wait

I've been coming here frequently, so today I thought I'd write a few lines for them. The food there has always been excellent and fresh. The dish is the purest form of South Indian cuisine.

The South Indian cuisine here is truly delicious. The food was flavorful, and I particularly enjoyed Maysore Masala Dosa.

Authentic South Indian food in a peaceful atmosphere. A wonderful retreat to enjoy with kids.
The food is fresh and delicious. Order Supply is very fast. Vicinity to Juhu is a special attraction. Place is well maintained including clean wash rooms.
Staffs are polite and suggestive.
Most liked items were: Mysore Masala dosa, Coconut Uttapam, Vada samber, Cheese Spring Dosa, Filter Coffee and Gulab Jamuns are excellent.

Great food, hygienic, lot of varieties, only veg.
Limited parking area but I was lucky enough to get a place. Opens at 8 am

The service was really amazing, and honestly the food was worth spending my money there, and they have a good ambience as well, and it was really good to be there.

I recently visited this Restaurant and it was fantastic! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was amazing. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, which made my dining experience even better. The dishes were cooked to perfection and were bursting with flavour. The prices were also reasonable, which made it a great value for money. I highly recommend this Restaurant and can't wait to go there again!

Delicious food, at a reasonable price. Whenever i miss home made food, I visit here for a taste like home.

Located in the opposite lane of Iskon temple, Ville parle. This restaurant has good ambience and after Covid-19, they have taken good care of the cleanliness. They clean the dinning area after every family leaves the area. They provide good service to the customers and anticipate well about the needs of the customers. They have menu stuck on every table so that there is social distancing followed. Good food at good price with authenticity

Amazing amazing place. Love the food here. Butter idlis are to die for. Service is quick. If you love south indian.it is a must go spot in Mumbai.

We went there, but no one is there to assist, people waiting for hours, and inside some people just orders coffee/ tea and talking on the phones for just time pass, atleast the waiters should make them busy and and tell those customers who are are time passing to leave and say people are waiting. Some initiative should taken by the authorities or owners of this hotel. So that people can enjoy the food much waiting, Very poor management

Such places doesnt need reviews coz they get loyal customers who come over and over again inspite of the wait time being atleast 30 min if you are going beyond 9: 30 in the morning on a weekend and 8 PM in the evening. Serves reay amazing mouth watering south indian

Excellent ambiance, good service, Amazing food. What else one can ask for. Worth every penny. Don't miss it friends, if you are looking for authentic south indian flavors. Aadi dosa and upma and uttapam are too good. And all the chutteney and sambar too. A must visit place. Call in advance to know the waiting n parking situation though.

Love the food here.kids tried the butter idli for the 1st time and loved it.this time we had rasam idli, tomato-onion uttapam, adahi dosa, cheese dosa, kajipuram idli and kulfi.limitless yummy sambar and coconut chutney.went there for dinner so skipped the coffee (weep-weep). Looking forward for the next visit. Despite the long wait!

Cold food and rude staff. We were here with large family. The food took forever to arrive and was cold. Staff is busy talking with each other wih less interest in serving. Also, they don't understand orders enough anforget to bring things that are ordered, no loss, less on our bill.

This place is as generous as it is authentic. 3 different types of Chutney offered with 1 order of Dosa. Offers of refill of sambar and coconut chutney. The filter coffee was as recommend and advertised. The taste of the coconut chutney and various dishes were not just flavoursome but also very unique. One walked away satisfied and craving for more.

If you are looking for authentic about Indian food this is without any second thoughts the right place

P. S when at dakshinayan I drink sambhar like water.

Had heard about the wait but luckily got a table in around 5 mins. Located in the quiet Hotel Anand opppsite Hare Krishna Temple. Interiors are bright and clean and purpose built for a quick eat and exit, and the wait staff behaves that way due to the rush.
Ordered the Rava Masala Dosa (requested them to make it without butter) and it did come that way. Crispy pancake which went well with the punchy sambar. The potato filling was virtually tasteless so avoided that as was the white coconut chutney.
The Medu Vada was excellent. Perfectly golden, crisp and just the right amount of hot.
The Buttermilk was refreshing and cooling but the portion could have been a bit better.
Will be back again to try other things here

* Please come early otherwise the waiting is long as the place is compact & jam Packaged on weekdays & weekends.
* Minimal parking available, so parking can be a hassle in that area.

(Drinks are reasonably priced but Food prices can definitely reduce or quantity can increase a bit)

Our Order: -
1. Molgapudi Idli: - Mini idli’s served with gun powder sprinkled on top. A popular dish here. Do try

2. Adai Dosa: - Mixed pulses (masala) Dosa made in ghee. Dosa was crisp & masala tasted nice, but nothing wow.

3. Chettinad (Spicy Pepper) Dosa: - Sada Dosa with pepper sprinkled over. A big Let down

4. Panniyaram: - Vada made from rice. One plate has 5 pcs. Served hot & tasty. Nice

5. Medu Vada: - You get 3 decent size Medu Vada Per plate. Soft & served hot. Vada’s turned out the best

6. Bisibelle Rice: - Daal, Rice, spices cooked in South Indian style. Quite similar to Daal Khichadi. It was Yummy

7. Sweet Lassi: - Thickness & sweetness well balanced.

8. Filter Coffee: - Perfect way to end your meal (Tell them less sugar, otherwise you might find the sweetness to much)

Dakshinayan offers authentic South Indian food (mild to medium spicy) which is served hot, Food Quality & Quantity is decent & service is superb.

They have 3 types of chutney & sambhar on the table. Chutney Variety is decent but sambhar is super.

I loved their Idli & Vada combo’s & found their Dosa’s just average.

Overall Food Experience was good but found the place a bit pricey & hyped tbh.

Wonderful south Indian restaurant. You can find authentic south Indian dishes not available in udipi restaurants. Varieties of sevais and sadams, and molagappodi mini idlis, adais all items delicious. A must visit for foodies.

The menu coverage for South Indian food is extensive and includes almost all delicacies from South India. Food quality and taste is very good. Waiting area has enough good seats. Only pitfall is that they do not reserve tables over phone in advance

The other day we were at ISKCON, Juhu late in the evening. As we left from the temple we’re extremely hungry. On searching over Zomato, Dakshinayan came to our rescue as it was closest. South Indian cuisine is almost everyone’s comfort food & one of the safe bet if you aren’t in mood to try something new.
Visiting this place on Sunday was another pain. It took almost 30-40 mins for us to get a table.

LOCATION:
Dakshinayan is located on Gandhigram Road, just the lane opposite to ISKCON Temple. It can be easily spotted.

AMBIENCE: Nothing really fancy about the interiors are very decent and comfortable seating arrangements.

SERVICE: Service was lil slow but can be overlooked coz it was weekend.
Staff was helpful and nice.

What we ate

Mysore Masala dosa - It was nice crisp and thin. Cooked with the goodness of butter. The aloo masala was bland.
Though we loved the Chutneys.

Bissibelle Hulianna - Bissibelle was served piping hot. It was yummy and full of flavours and veggies. And of course with some nice crunch of namkeen.

Panniyaram: Panniyaram or rice wadas were crispy and soft. It was a decent one. You can give it a miss tho.

Rasam Wada: This was definitely an awful dish. Rasam was loaded with unnecessary amount of peppercorns and way too oil. Wadas were good to go.

Korma With Appam - Korma is made up of loads of veggies and flavouring spices. This one had loads of veggies but there was no flavour to it.
Though Appam was super soft and delicious

We liked some and disliked some. Overall the food here is made for more of foreigners footfall keeping in mind. So one might find dishes below average and less spicy for the Indian palate.

Where do I begin, this food is so delicious and light and is worth the waiting. The service is super quick and the food is just outstanding. One of the best South Indian Cuisine restaurant in Mumbai. They have various options on the menu. What you must try is the Kanji Rasam and the Ghee Idli. I love the Dosas too because they were super nice and crispy. Do try their sheera and desserts too. The place is nice and clean and the food served is hygienic. It’s super value for money and you won’t be disappointed by this place.

Food over here is very delicious and tasty The varieties of South Indian food is very good and all the varieties available are authentic. Prices of various dishes are very nominal and sufficient quantity for one person

Lip-smacking and how! But don't forget to call and enquire on the waiting time during rush hours, especially on weekends. Also, do try the coconut rice, it's light and insanely flavourful.

Awesome south indian food. This was a luck by chance visit. We had visited iskcon and while searching for places to eat came across this jewel. This looked like any south indian hotel however the food was just out of the world. It was tasty n yummy. The quantity was also perfect and loved their sambhar. I generally don't like sambhar outside but this was delicious. Would love to try more dishes however their location is a bit of a pain.

They serve a wide variety of melt in the mouth idlis and awesome dosas. Always right up there as far as taste is concerned. Could do with a larger seating area since every weekend there is atleast a 40 minutes waiting.

One of Mumbai's truly authentic South Indian cuisine restaurant. Their Meduvadas are the crispiest every tasted. Some unique items like Raagi and Multigrain dosas are worth trying. And their Filter Coffee is a perfect finale to a great meal - don't ever leave the restaurant without having it. Tech early by 7: 30pm for an early dinner as the wait time thereafter goes up to almost 45 min. But any wait is worth it, atleast the first time.
