Little costly. A Rs 450 mutton thali is same as a Rs 300-350 mutton thali in a decent restaurant elsewhere.

Very Good hotel to stay in Kolhapur. Food is also great.
Breakfast is complimentry and have veriety. Opal is famous for his Thali dishes of veg and non-veg in Kolhapur. Service is also very good. Ample Parking is available.

The food was excellent! The service was wonderful. Our waiter was so attentive and accommodating. Ambiance was perfect.

I just stopped for Lunch on my way home to Mumbai from Goa. The food was just okay, some locals told me it was the Best in Kolhapur. I thought it was a bit over rated. On my way to Goa I stopped at a modest eatery " "Pranjali" at Satara, the food was far superior to Opal. It is only my opinion.

Great location. Perfect place to stay with family. Just about a km away from Pune Bangalore highway. Breakfast is complimentary plus there is variety and delicious too. Even the restaurant food is also good. Rates are reasonable too. Also you have shopping mall right next to the hotel.
Rooms are well maintained and spacious too.

We had lunch here last week. Has an elaborate art e maharashtrian fare, and a very good sol kadhi. Reasonable prices.

Loved my experience here, we went there to eat kolhapuri thali and we were not disappointed. It is pricey than the places adjoining the highway but quality of kolhapuri food was tasty and authentic.

We ordered chicken kolhapuri thali, the red tambada rassa and white saffed rassa were delicious. The quantity was satisfying.

They even accommodate my request to bring me just saffed rassa in a soup bowl and that really pleased me.

Parking for cars is there, the restaurant is clean, spacious and has a cosy ambience. They even have a lounge area for waiting.

Staff was warm. Place accepts UPI payments.

Amazing place the taste is different from what it used to be but it's still amazing one thali is big enough to fill you and your cravings great thing is now you have many veg options to choose from

Not a great place any longer. Used to have. Fantastic food earlier. Covid has had badddd impact on may restaurants and Opal seems to be one of them

The once authentic and fabulous Mutton thali with tambda rassa was not great at all this time (Dec21) and also the Solkadi

A must visit place to taste their signature mutton dishes and the side dishes and salads are also equally tasty. तांबडा पांढरा रस्सा पियाची ज्याची इच्छा होणार तो नक्की ओपाल la येणार

An advise to avg Mumbaikar.their less spice is very spicy. So say No spice then if you are lucky you will get something that doesn't burn your gut next morning

Nice ambience and location was easy to reach. I had high expectations about food here. Food was ok but could be better. Staff was polite and courteous. We tried all their thalis. There is nothing special about these thalis.

The chicken thali wasn't that good. Had last visited before covid and was worth it. Food doesn't taste good at all and not worth the money at all.

Fish smelling, chicken smelling and was not properly cooked also. Very poor service. Pl don't go for god sake

Hotel opals food is good but desert like gulab jamun i ate yesterday was worst, there is need to tell cook to make gulab jamuns tasty, very worst gulab jamuns.

Famous place. Visiting for second time after 15 years or so. Special Mutton thali was great. Served with fry and masala and kheema and along with lots of Pandhara Rassa and Tambda Rassa. A treat for non-vegetarians. Must visit of you are paying through Kolhapur.

Ambiance, staff etc is good, but the main thing, the kolhapuri test was not there.we went there to test special kolhapuri mutton.we order a muttun thali, but the test of muttun curry, pandhra and tambda rassa was worst.in fact few restaurants in sadashiv peth pune serves far better test that what opel offer.disappointed

A must visit in your trip to Kolhapur. This place is heaven for the carnivores. If you order any 'Thali' then they can serve you Dahi-Kanda, Tambda & Pandhara rassa till you drop dead (literally) Kolhapuri food dishes are exploited worldwide as red hot & spicy ones. But this place will throw a surprise at you. All the dishes are made with authentic Kolhapuri spices used in perfect quantity, neither less nor too much.enjoyed my food.

Visited here for lunch en route to bhogwe.ordered chicken masala, chicken fry and veg thali. Veg thali was delectable, however my wife was didnt like the chicken dishes much to her liking. However, pandhara rassa, the speciality of kolhapur was tasty. Will surely visit again during another road trip

Good Kholapuri food. Loved the mutton dishes specially. Could have been better with the flavour, as we're foodies and found the true flavours of mutton Rassa in smaller outlets across Kholapur. The rassa was water mixed with masala, no flavour of the mutton.

Hotel Opal offers very good food options.
Specifically I love their Non veg items like Mutton Thali.

Best place to have food.

I visited the Bar section, the service and quality of food was pathetic.
The staff was interested only in our final order even though a hour was remaining for close down.
Ordered Dal Khichada the quantity was so less that the portion was not enough for even 1 person also it seemed that they had mixed Dal and Rice from dining section and served as Dal Khichada.
Had heard a lot of good reviews of the dining section but didn't visit as the experience at Bar section was pathetic.

Quality and quantity has degraded over time. Once you are served the waiters don't look at your table. You have to cal them. Experience yourself and reply me.

Stayed in normal (non AC) room for one night.
Room: Very basic furniture. 2 seater bamboo made sofa, double bed, wardrobe, dressing table with full mirror, flat screen LED TV. Room was clean. Bedsheets, towels, blankets were clean too.
Attached clean toilet with wash basin, mirror, commode, shower and 24 hrs hot water (gas geyser).
They provide extra mattress with additional charge with prior information.
Room service is available.
Only drawback is elevator/lift is not there.
Staff at reception is good, prompt and supportive.
Covered car parking with security guard in front of hotel.
Restaurant: It is famous for non veg food. But we had veg food (1 dinner) and it was good too. Breakfast was included in package. It starts at 8.00 am and has few options like misal pav, pohe, idli sambar, bread butter jam, tea, coffee, juice etc. It was very good too.
Overall it's recommended for stay (with basic needs) and restaurant is highly recommended for local veg, non veg food.

Until few years ago this Hotel was famous for Kolhapuri Veg - NonVeg dishes. But not now. Prices are high, quality's low. Now so many better options are available.
Strange entrance and parking facility.

We ordered for mutton dry, mutton fry, biryani rice, and pandhara rassa. All were very tasty and amazing. The dining arrangements are very good and clean and the staff here is also very loving.

I am one of the regular visitors to this hotel since 1973 ie.almost since its inception. Always it's a joy to enjoy good and tasty food both in veg.and nonveg menu. In earlier days we used to launch parties. Weekly once we used to visit this hotel with family and children. Now the children are grownups, and whenever they come home they take us all to hotel opal and we enjoy family dinner.
In olden days, green chicken used to be very tasty. Now there are many items in the menu, but all with a great taste.
Shankar the waiter is our favourite person who knows well, how to treat the guests.
Still today we keep on visiting this lovely hotel to enjoy the great taste of Kolhapuri food.

It's one of the best restaurants in Kolhapur. Today I visited after 5 years & njoyed their chicken thali with tambda pandhara rasa. Taste is delicious but bit overpriced.

This hotel is just beside the famous 'Dehati' and serves delicious mutton and chicken thaali. Their dishes are not at all spicy but flavourful. Comfortable seating. We could grab a table immediately while Dehati had 30 min waiting. The veg thali and solkadi were tasty as well.

Ambience is good, In food mutton thali is good but little overprice as per food taste according to me. Staff is good, unlimited tabada and pandhara rassa.

Special for chicken and mutton thalis. Four of us had gone in Opal during our Pune trip so got to try four different thalis.
Ordered chicken fry thali, mutton curry, chicken curry and egg masala thali. All had Amazing flavours and a unique taste.
They have an amazing staff and the ambience is also classy.

Very nice service is good and polite but there is one suggestion that now pandhara rassa becomes normal because of broad base of pot and not remain hot to drink. Think over this

The test is no longer as usual. Completely disappointed. They used to give all the food in the bowl after ordering, now they bring it in the plate but it didn't feel right.

Service is not good, though there is no rush in restaurant service was too dumb. Go only for Thali one of the favourite restaurant, but not happy with the service

Hotel Opal was an absolute delight. We had dinner there. Food was served piping hot and mutton was super tasty. Even the paneer peshawari was out of the world. Must visit and end the day with delicious Basundi

Whenever I visit Kolhapur, i always stay in Hotel Opal. This place has a old charm and the food is great here. The rooms are very spacious and has everything for a comfortable stay. The staff and management here is very friendly and they will go an extra mile to meet your demands. It's certainly worth to stay here if ur on a business visit or a stopover. Highly recommend.

The hotel once was a very famous hotel with excellent facilities but now its not the same. The standard rooms are too small and not at all clean / hygenic with small toilet attached. The rooms are dusty and beware of lizzard. They do clean if you request them though. The prices of the rooms are high compared to other hotels in that area. They do not give complementary water bottle for std rooms. They also have in house restaurant where you can go and have food which they deliver to your room on request. The food quality and taste is ok but it is extremely spicy. Do not order paneer curries as the paneer is not fresh and its very chewy. So not that happy with the stay. The parking space is horrible and only a person with good driving skills can park due to steep slope! The staff is polite and helpful. COVID measures are in place. The hotel entrance and rooms are not at all friendly. Can do better!

It's a place we have visited in the past, this time it was the third time. It is famous for it's non vegetarian dishes. It's located conveniently just a 10 minute dive off the Mumbai Bangalore highway (kolhapur) exit. Recommend this place if you are a foody who loves non-veg food.

We had a special Veg thali, while some of us had chicken and mutton bowl. All Dishes have a home made Maharashtrain Taste. Service is quick and waiters seem insisting and really happy to serve you food. Must try Pandhra Tambda Rassa.

We took a little detour from our way to Goa and entered kolhapur just to have food here. Food was yummy and authentic kolhapuri. Ambience suits the family crowd. Recommended place to have lunch on Pune Goa route.

This shouldn't be a budget hotel. If you want kolhapuri mutton, opal is the only place to go. Coming to Kolhapur ever since, and I've been eating at Opal ever Since. 10/10.

Went here for lunch, rather late afternoon around closing time, but the staff was friendly and welcoming. The food tastes good, would highly recommend their Basundi for desert. We ordered a veg thali, Biryani rice, pandhra (white) and tambda (red) rassa (curry), chicken masala and rotis. No complaints about the taste, quantity, even the ambience was good. Especially happy with the friendly and cooperative staff.

I had planned a casual dinner, try something authentic from Kolhapur. The dinner was fantastic, amazing food, great people. I would recommend, sorry highly recommend this place to visit and enjoy food.

Good place for Lunch and dinner. Best dish is tambda and pandhra rassa. Which is local non veg curry. Food tastes very good.

Nice place to stay. Clean, neat and has the antic feel. Staff is very hospitable. The new construction in the front has ruined the place though.
